小雲雀學名：Alauda gulgula wattersi，英文名：Oriental Skylark，別名：半天仔、半天鳥，屬百靈科，普遍的留鳥，身長約15公分，小雲雀經常快速沖入天空，展翅高歌之後落地。雄性有時會停在半空中歌唱，吸引伴侶。主要棲息於旱田、草原等較寬廣的地區，小雲雀在地上築巢，以昆蟲、植物種子為食。繁殖期為4月至6月，築巢於地面，以細草莖編織而成，內襯草類花穗。每窩產卵2-4枚，由雌鳥孵育10-11天，雌雄鳥分擔餵食雛鳥的工作，約經10天雛鳥離巢，此時雛鳥尚無飛行能力，仍由親鳥餵食。2011年5月紀錄於新園堤防

That is so lovely to see. We have skylarks in the field opposite us and I see them at nesting time each year flying up and up, high in the sky singing away then they drop like a stone to the field. What a good way of protection their young from predators. However I have never seen one close in all the years we have lived here. These chicks are adorable to see. Thank you for sharing. The little skylark brooding is just a good time to observe. It is very interesting. The experts told me that they sing high and sang. and Suddenly drop like a stone, that was a courtship action, although nesting in the sand fields is very risky. but They do this every year and keep doing it!
