LASEK laser eye surgery UK - procedure and recovery after 2 months

- I had LASEK at Optimax in Newcastle two months ago and have since experienced the ups and downs of the recovery.
During my first week all I wanted to do was watch (well, listen to) UA-cam videos to hear what other people had experienced at the stage I was at. So here I've put together the ups and downs from surgery day to today (two months later), as it seems everyone's experience is different.
Great video! I had lasek done a week ago,and oh my god, the first 4 days were a HELL/Nightmare, constant eye pain, eyes watery, super light sensitive, damn it was awful.. but ohwell i guess it'll be worth it once my vision gets perfect..
Its definitely worth it! Hope your eyes are good now!
Omg im doing it tomorrow.. im so nervous i feel like throwing up 😭
@@Maiahallberg its over so quickly and you cant feel it!
@@Maiahallberg hey mate, there is nothing to worry about, the procedure itself is not the painfull part, just relax, the whole thing will take around 5-10 minutes. I remember the pain post surgery.. it was hard.. but now 3 months later i finally can say, IT WAS ALL WORTH IT!!! 20/20 vision is sooo awesome!! Goodluck!
Thank you guys 🙏💕
Hey, I'm getting lasek in January (my corneas are thin too haha) I am worried because I'd rather have lasik but I can't so never mind.
I was hoping I could ask you a couple of questions about it just to speak to someone whose had it done, if you don't mind of course...
1) What was your prescription before you had lasek? Mine's only -2.25 so comparably weak to a lot of the people who get it done and I was wondering if that affects your recovery time?
2) How many days did you have to wait before being given the all clear to watch screens again?
3) How many days did you have to wait before you were 20/20?
Also, are you like totally fine now? I'm just nervous about having it done haha thank you so much in advance xx
Hey Annie! Yeah, no worries at all. So my prescription was really similar, -2.00. I don't think it affects recovery time though, I think it's similar for everyone from what I was told and have researched. I waited about a week before watching screens, but because my vision was blurry not because they said not to (apparently it doesn't damage your eyes to look at screens - it's just not that enjoyable when you can't see them, and can make them more prone to dryness). They say a week for driving and going back to work (i.e. looking at screens), but I'd recommend two if your job involves computers. And I was 20/20 after a month. Hope this helps! Oh and my eyes are still a bit dry so I'm putting drops in when I can xx
@@sophiespaldin2412 thank you so much for getting back to me I really appreciate it! xx
I had -2.3 I don’t remember well
I had medium dark brown eyes now I have silver eyes because genetically my grand parents on both sides had silver eyes.
How is your vision now please?
I wish you would talk louder in your video. I had to turn up my lap top volume all the way up to hear you.
Hi, thank you for your video, very informative! Do you know if optimax provide referral discounts?
If you've still got dry eyes - Or anybody else for that matter - Take flaxseed oil capsules.
You can buy them from holland and barrett. 1000mg capsules.
I have my LASEK surgery in Liverpool next Thursday (Couldn't have LASIK due to thin corneas) and when I mentioned to my surgeon I was taking the flaxseed, he was happily surprised and told me to definitely keep taking them. Which aids eye lubrication!
Cool video, thank you.
I'm terrified my vision won't come back 😂 Though I am -5 in both eyes!!
Great tip, thank you! Think I'll start taking them as I constantly look at screens and my eyes do occasionally feel dry. Good luck, it'll be fine and definitely worth it if you're -5!! 😊
@@sophiespaldin2412 Thanks for the reply! Hoping for a successful surgery without complications 🙂
Enjoy your new eyes!
How are you now? I’m getting LASEK in a month and my vision is like -6, can’t wait for the results
Phil C I’m looking to get laser eye surgery in Liverpool to, if you don’t mind sharing were did you go? And how did it go?
@@jemmaxx3706 If you're considering getting laser eye surgery, please, please think very carefully. The fact is laser eye surgery is extremely dangerous. I've had it done myself and it has ruined my life. Years on, my vision is the worst it has ever been and I am still in pain. In fact, most people who have told me they have had it done, have also had some kinds of problems, many of them serious and life-changing. It would appear that problems are the norm, rather than the exception.
If you are still tempted, make sure you seek advice from an independent optometrist or ophthalmologist. Companies carrying out these procedures have little or no scruples, withhold information about the dangers, act in contravention of guidance laid down by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and pay their staff commissions. The industry is unregulated and that is a serious problem.
Hey just had laser eye surgery (day five now) And I feel like I’m looking at screen too much 😩😅 just want some comfort lol. Did you look at screen a lot as well??
I go lasek surgery tomorrow
Scared here
And how was it?
How is your vision now please
I know it's a long time ago but how is your vision now?
How strong was the pain, like a headache?
Hello, had LASEK done at optimax on Friday. I can see pretty good out of one eye but the other is literally no difference to before surgery.
Can you confirm if you had one good eye after a couple of days or was both of yours not good for the first couple of days?
Just abit worried about the eye thats not improved (still blury) lol
Thanks
Hi. Has this improved now? Both eyes working normally now or still one fuzzy one?
What was the procedure like? Like I know lasek is way less invasive than lasik but every video I've seen they used alcohol on the eye and made a tiny cut in the side to take out a small layer of skin. Seems super scary.
Hey, so I had lasek done on the 12th and still struggling with watching TV and my phone. I can see but its slightly blurred. Was this same for you?
Yes, my close up vision didn't settle for a few weeks!
Hey there. It have been 10 days that I had lasik. My left eye is perfect now.But I can't see properly with my right eye.Neither I can see closer things properly nor distant things. Is it normal?
@@mdgolamsharier5956 how are your eyes now?
@@hahabobblehead2059 it's not okay yet.
@@mdgolamsharier5956 have you spoken to your surgeon? what has he said?
Hey, I had my consultation with Optical Express today and they suggested LASEK. I really want to get Laser done as my prescription is -5.50. I wanted to ask do you still have 20/20 vision 7 months on?
Hey, I havent had an eye test since Jan but yes I think so! I never struggle to read anything 😊
@@sophiespaldin2412 That's great to hear! Can you see 100% clear from a distance? Also, you no longer require glasses right?
@@sophiespaldin2412 Sorry about the questions x
No worries! Yeah I can see completely clearly and no glasses required! 😊
@@misssupergenius6386 have u done with optical express, also how are your vision
Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience How are you after 1 year? Hope you can update your experience.
I had mine a week ago. Hope for your answer
Greetings from Bolivia ❤
How is your vision now please
I was the exact same
Hi! Thank you for the video. Can I ask you, can you drive at night? Do you see the hight lights like blurry at all? Also, can you read from very close up? Thank you 😁
Hey, sorry must have missed this comment! Yeah I drive at night, lights are a bit blurry, always have been for me even with contacts in :( it's not too bad though, I asked about it and they said it's to do with your pupils expanding beyond the range of the lense or lasered area
Hi, I am booked in for LASEK in 2 weeks. What was your prescription before you did it? Also can you see near now? I’m nervous so do you have any advice?
Also my vision is like there’s a light fog. Is that normal? Bit nervous!
I was only -2. I can see close up now yep!😊 it's over so quickly and you can't feel it so just try to chill and be prepared for the aftercare! Stock up on podcasts etc
Sophie Spaldin Hi again, I have had LASEK done now 6 days ago and even though I can see better than I could without my glasses but I still can not see very well. How long was it till you could see again properly? I was a -6.00 so I understand may take longer but I think I might be like a -4.00 or something because I can still not see far. How long do you think it will be till can see properly.
@2015 it takes about a month for your eye sight to get to where it needs to be even sometimes a week longer so don’t worry about it too much. I’d really recommend just keep hydrating your eyes and don’t strain them too much
@2015 I only had 1 week booked off but ended up taking 2 weeks off and work forced me back in and I couldn’t see the screen for a week or so, don’t panic it’s part of the process
@2015 yeah they don’t. If you have any other questions get in touch
The smells probably the worst part aswell as the cold water they put on after the surgery
Great video. Please elaborate on your night vision and how that is? Also, how are the results after three months ?
