I worked for the Federal government decades ago. I quit in short order. You had 20% of the people doing 80% of the work. And even that 20% didn't have to work eight hours to get what was necessary done for a day.
Meh. I’ve worked state govt for a little over 5 years now in Illinois. It is true 80% of workers don’t do much. But my job I had as a caseworker handling with Medicaid and needy people and having to answer non stop phone calls for 2 years was pretty brutal. My job now (April 2024 when promoted) is super easy tho and it guarantees me to make over 100k when I’m maxed out. I can finish all my work by 12:00pm or sooner every day now and don’t have to deal with phone calls or customers at all lol.
Unless one understands how government budgets work, it's speculation. Every department of government/military have an approved yearly budget. What isn't spent at the end of the year is removed from next years amount. So they spend it all. I know because I had to do this in the Navy in our command for my chief. THAT is a problem incurred by the difficulty to adjust the budget upwards when necessary. In essence they 'bank' that money by increasing stock of items useful but not needed currently by that particular command/department although I have doubts about the civilians being as forthcoming.

Gov Murphy here absolutely butchered the allocation of public school funding aid, gutting smaller districts that need it and giving more to the most urban areas who already rely on state aid for 75+% of their budget.
Now many of these suburban school districts are forced to beg to raise already outrageous property taxes to cover the deficit and ppl are not happy 😡

I worked for the Federal government decades ago. I quit in short order. You had 20% of the people doing 80% of the work. And even that 20% didn't have to work eight hours to get what was necessary done for a day.

Meh. I’ve worked state govt for a little over 5 years now in Illinois. It is true 80% of workers don’t do much. But my job I had as a caseworker handling with Medicaid and needy people and having to answer non stop phone calls for 2 years was pretty brutal. My job now (April 2024 when promoted) is super easy tho and it guarantees me to make over 100k when I’m maxed out. I can finish all my work by 12:00pm or sooner every day now and don’t have to deal with phone calls or customers at all lol.

Unless one understands how government budgets work, it's speculation. Every department of government/military have an approved yearly budget. What isn't spent at the end of the year is removed from next years amount. So they spend it all. I know because I had to do this in the Navy in our command for my chief. THAT is a problem incurred by the difficulty to adjust the budget upwards when necessary. In essence they 'bank' that money by increasing stock of items useful but not needed currently by that particular command/department although I have doubts about the civilians being as forthcoming.

Simple Solution to begin addressing the National Debt: Currently, the "General Fund" receives funds from US mineral leases. Effective January 20th, 2025, the revenues generated from all "New Mineral Leases" on Federally Owned Lands will be applied directly to the National Debt.
I would highly recommend that Elon and Vivek look into the SBA‘s 8A business development program. They will find significant over spending by the federal government with everything associated with that program.
And the Section 42 "Affordable Housing" program.
