That is a cracking example of how a restored Mini Cooper should look . I have no doubt she's sold .....lucky owner ! The mk 1 's all had contrasting roofs , essentially white or black . I think the Tartan Red/ Smoke Grey Cooper's could have either. I restored an identical "S" about 7 years ago. We actually used a spectrograph to analyse the colour (knowing it was island blue ) and it gave us a formula for an old Lada colour which was spot on ! 1964 , l believe was the change over year from 997cc to 998cc. If l'd seen this l would have been sorely tempted. Thankyou very much. (my father had the very first privately registered 997 in 1961)
I had one 43yrs ago, exactly the same colour, it was a 1967. My dad had his own garage, and I was apprentice mechanic, and we used to build minis up. My first one was a 1963, completely de seamed, with a 1300cc engine in.
@@twinphill900 all the seams ( ie) where the different panels join, plus the guttering around the roof, were all removed, it made it more aero dynamic. Trouble is with the roof one removed, it use to pour in of water🤣

timothy okane yes, well a 998cc
@@RFHClassics Austin did make 997 and 998 Cooper Mk 1's, but I can't tell which this is.
Simon G Williams that was a 998
@@RFHClassics so you reply to timothy okane should have been no, not yes!
Yes it should be the 998 the 998 came out in 1964.
