Rex TexasAggie this was for a competition. They don't do that cheer regularly.

Amanda Morse Whew, that’s good to know. The school is so big now, it is good to keep some old traditions. In my day, we had 8 cheerleaders so yes times do change ... I’m glad to see the they have phased out of the black third color,,, nothing is sharper than maroon (the dark shade) and white. I’m biased both my schools are maroon so never had any other. :) lol

This isn't even a cheerleading competition. All cheerleading competitions are competitive

It’s called “game day”. UIL can’t do competitive cheerleading because not many schools can pay for it and also competitive teams practice 6 days a week but UIL rules for any UIL sport only allows 5 days a week for practice - thus to avoid controversy they stuck with gameday. Honestly it’s a waste of time and some too schools (such as Laredo United and Austin Westlake) don’t go to UIL to focus on their national routines. The San Antonio schools have to juggle UIL routines and their competitive routines which is hard to do and probably would have to sacrifice UIL in the next few years if they want to succeed in competitive (but San Antonio schools have always placed top at UIL so that’s hard to quit if you keep winning ;))
I recommend UIL to change it to STUNT competition so technically they are double dipping with practicing for their competitive routines and for STUNT.

Yes this is called Game day and the rules are different than All Star cheer and is for school cheer only...as you should be able to tell by the actual usage of signs and cheers that are required. This routine placed 2nd out of 126 6A high school teams in Texas. They also placed 10th at Nationals last year. (Yes schools from all over the country compete...it's actually kind of a big deal for High Schools) Game day competition has been going on for more than 40 years. All star cheerleading competition evolved from Game day. So to say this isn't a cheerleading completion is wrong and rude!
