  • CosPlay With Me is a cosplay talk show where members of the Cosplay community or related industries join host Angi Viper to discuss relevant topics to the Cosplay and Geek community.
On this debut episode, special guest KRo and Angi discuss the recent prop ban at Phoenix Comic Con, why it happened, how things could have been handled better and what conventions can do moving forward to help ensure that something like this doesn't happen again.
Special thanks to my Patrons without whom nothing I do would be possible. Y'all are my rock and constantly inspire me to keep moving forward.

Who would want to hurt Jason David Frank? He's awesome and really really nice.

Dream cosplay ideas, no budget limit kinda stuff, what would you do?

I don't think "safety is paramount". Safety is important but not above all else.
There should always be a weighing of priorities. I would personally consider cosplay props an essential part of a cosplay convention - and disallowing props would seem to me akin to e.g. disallowing face covering costumes.

Agreed. Blanket banning is not the solution. No foam prop is going to harm someone. Banning fake guns I can understand, maybe, but honestly, tighter checks before entering the convention is the way to go. If everyone is thoroughly screened, and I would gladly take longer to get into a con that I know for sure that everyone has been specifically forced through checks--including metal detectors--rather than simply banning harmless props because they look like something real. Beef up security checks/staff, and things would be better.
