I bought this receiver a few years ago. It was a floor model. $99 was my range, at that time. I live in an apartment, and I use it as 5.1 DD. It is too much power, but has clarity at normal volumes. I use small Phillips speakers, and a mid range Polk Sub. I have never had a problem her.
I have a Sony str-dh720hp and there is a humming noise coming from the receiver when it is in standby mode or tirned on. There is a little hum through powered sub but no other speaker. I have tried plugging receiver in another wall outlet but still get hum from receiver. What could be causing the hum in side the receiver?
I have a simaler sony AV . the str dh800. It requires the master volume to be turned up to max to output normal sound levals. It has got worse through the years. What do you think could be wrong.?? Thanks

My Sony STR-KM3 (Argentina model) is turning off right after power on, displaying a "USB FAIL" error message, despite the model DOES NOT having any USB connector? (I have once repaired the same model, but with USB. The problem was a faulty relay (RY901)). Any suggestion or hint? Thank you.

Am Fernseher erscheint das Home-Menu, aber die Anlage reagiert überhaupt nicht auf die Fernbedienung oder irgendeine Taste an der Frontplatte. Wenn ich beim Start kein Gerät am HDMI-Eingang angeschlossen habe, scheint die Anlage zu booten (jedenfalls kann ich Fernbedienungsbefehle eingeben), aber es kommt kein Ton aus den Lautsprechern und wenn ich dann den Fernseher am HDMI-Eingang anschließe, bekommt er kein Signal. oder gibt es irgendeinen Trick zum Totelreset, den man noch versuchen kann? Danke für jedweden Hinweis.
What a dinky little transformer for a 7 channel unit. The one in my 100W x2 JVC from 1991 is literally about twice that size! Filter caps are much larger too.
+Adam's Workshop So you think the rated power of 135w/ch is a lie on this unit? I know there is no regulation and companies can legally lie about output power.. I was thinking about picking this unit up locally from Craigslist for $120 but not if its bogus.. How loud does it get.. I seen at 43 in the vid it did not seem very loud.. but who knows maybe you had the comp vol turned down..
+Dj NDAA It doesn't get very loud. I can have the computer volume all the way up, and the receiver all the way up for some movies, and its barely enough for what I need.
I wouldn't pay that much for this unit. I think the rated power rating is obtained with one channel driven only. Its really the power supply is the limiting factor in a lot of these units.
I have the DH-820. It suddenly quit and it doesn't even show protect mode. When I plug it in it just makes a single click from on of the relays up top. Could it be the transformer is shot? How would I test the transformer with my meter? Thanks
Nov 2020, I bought this exact receiver a few days ago at a Goodwill for $25. so far everything seems to work except for the front right speaker. If I change out the speaker and the cable and plug it into another connection it will work but it won't work connected to the front right speaker terminal connection. Does anybody know how difficult it would be to replace the terminal connector for the speaker? Or should I look for an electronic shop to do it for me?

What fixed it I have the same receiver mines is going in protect mode
A bad pair of output transistors on one channel and an open circuit emitter resistor.

EAGLE___EMPIRE I use just the HDMI ARC. I use TV for imput. However, I do not have anything UHD, except the TV apps. Not a big deal for me.
