on these hooks it feels like for the first time In the entire discography, daveed is speaking to us as himself, not as a character or a disembodied voice/concept. Really refreshing and comforting...
also dystopian as fuck if you consider the coming record is apparently a cyberpunk concept. with that in mind, lyrically I have ideas of where this and Run It could go in a tale.
probably their most lighthearted song since A Better Place. still got that grim distorty aspect to it but daveed's hook here is more motivational then intimidating as usual.
oh yeah lol i meant moreso it sounds pleasant then actually being "lighthearted" :P. im used to gunshot sounds and grimey basslines from tracks like Shooter and Check The Lock over Daveed singing something inspiring in this one (theyre nice dudes irl i chatted with em a bit before their Toronto show 5ish years ago).
the band described the song as about "the need to push dope, even when the world is ending." there's really nothing inspiring about a toxic hustling mindset amidst global collapse
However hard it's been Get up and push again And if you feeling hurt Just keep on pushing work Wherever you may roam Just keep on pushing on I feel weirdly touched by that ending!? I haven’t listened to all their albums, but I’ve never heard this sort of sincere tone from clipping before. It meshes well with the strings and the stanky synth adds some great contrast. Gotta say I’m a big fan! Can’t wait for the next album!
I'm finding it really hard to get a grip on the tone and level of sincerity in the track as a whole. The chorus conveys hope and encouragement, but the verses are often extremely cynical. Saying "they're all sinners, but wait, how can you define sin without faith and how can you find faith anywhere in the world when it's a desolate wasteland?" is... decidedly less encouraging.
First time hearing this song on the radio I thought that you must be famous, so I was surprised when I discovered that you don’t have a lot of views. You are way underrated, this song is great.
OK OK DAMN. I wasn't fully sold on the cyberpunk style at first, but fuck it I'm in now. Never thought such an accessible sound for clipping would be so damn good??? Also THAT BEAT SWTICH?? EXCUSE MEEE?????
Cool bit of trivia: over on Twitter, they confirmed that the art for this single was done by The Designers Republic, who you might also know as the studio that did all the iconic graphic design for the Wipeout games.
IT'S AN ACID TECHNO RAP WINTER 🥶🥶 🗣️🗣️
acid rap is gonna be the new thing
It already was a thing with Esham
This Was never acid....
@@damianosmegalos809 how would you call a 303 bass?

Listen to splendor and misery. It feels like that on that whole album

A Better Place is NOT lighthearted.
A better place is not a lighthearted song, but i know what you’re saying, 👍

@@chrissyjo420 considering the concept their next album seems to be, yeah i feel this track is kinda more sinister than it seems surface level.
oddly soothing? I never expected that from clipping but it's very welcome I love it
I have so much faith on Daveed Diggs rapping skills, that took me about half of the song to realize is was on 2x speed.
only thanks to this comment I checked mine and realized it was at 1.5x. thank you
Okay, but why does the 2x remix still hit tho?
1.5 is where its at
1.5 🔥🔥🔥🔥
It feels like I keep rediscovering clipping with all of this treasure
wtf this is the most soothing track theyve ever made lol
Can I raise you dream from the self titled? Though this is a chill vibe
@bookofawimpykid6226 i had that one in mind. then i remembered it was actually pretty tense lol
@@cornbreadHD fair enough, but I'm more talking about instrumentally
@@bookofawimpykid6226 dream feels kind of eerie to me, like something doesn't feel right
They better follow this shit with some noise breakcore track lmao

@chriswest6988 its about selling drugs and becoming so indoctrinated by the culture of hustle that you keep pushing dope even as the world ends
New record is shaping up to be a doozy - big Open Mike Eagle vibes on the hook too, love that. .clppng forever!
They ooze. We throb. I fucking love Clipping.
this makes me feel like a high schooler wearing headphones and a hoodie in a 90s or 2000s coming of age movie
does that make sense
Hell yeah. Acid has been in music jail for too long. Bring that shit back.
I
Genuinely obsessed this beat and the way it evolves throughout!!!
That chorus sounds weirdly nostalgic despite coming out less than 24 hours ago
I was just telling my mom that the hook sounds like marvin gaye for some reason
@thesimulation9651 I'm feelin a Bill Withers vibe....
@@marcwhitworth yup like a use me up kinda thing (I'm 50 and my moms 72 and
we've both been digging this so hard)

God I can't wait
Same, can't wait to have this album on loop.
was not expecting a new song today!! what a nice surprise
NEW CLIPPING MOMENT
These new releases have been so catchy and acid heavy, but this has such a groove to it. Awesome to be here for these song releases!
Daveed's hook is gonna be my motivator for the week
Never thought I could like any clipping. songs more than in the There Existed an Addiction / Visions of Bodies era, but here we are.
You would love Piano Burning, it gets real good halfway in 🙏
That acid line had me hooked from the get-go. Sick
i literally became a fan today and listened to this 37 times already
At this point, clipping. are close to being the greatest thing ever
BABE WAKE UP CLIPPING DROPPED
We all needed this right now, I think. Thanks guys.
If HLX ever actually comes out, Clipping needs to do the soundtrack.
That hook is so sick with the seventies vibe
A more accessible Clipping. Is a warm welcome for my heart! Can’t wait for the new album yall
This song feels like an homage to both Open Mike Eagle & Yoko Kanno & I'm here for it
I've listened to mike and clipping for like seven years and I've somehow NEVER noticed the similarity between them until now
ACIEEED! Lyrics brilliant!
Aye midnighty bars
Okay so i just put a cake in the oven and find this. Which is amazing. They've been on a loop both in my ears and in my brain and I'm fine with that.
Ugghhhh it's so good! This is going to be my pavement pounding winter anthem. 🔥🧊
This is going to be my new national anthem fr.
Didn't expect soothing.
PERFECTION !!!
The most original horror hip-hop band❤
didn't expect a motivational clipping track to start my morning but I am NOT complaining 🙌🏾 superrr excited for the album 👀
Whenever I finally warmed up to the rap genre, Clipping. was there, some of my favorite car tunes. Thanks guys!
theres no way they dont blow up soon, i have such a strong feeling
Yes. Absolutely yes.
Oh clipping is so back
I literally screamed when i saw this lol. so excited for the new album!!
DAMN! Banger as per usual, much needed
This is ideal for winter, great track
This song is comforting and soothing; I really love the vibe.

Solid resistance music
Strings on a Clipping track were not something I ever expected, but not something I’m complaining about either.
Pain Everyday has strings in the outro but different vibe. Mournful vs. wistful.
Taking it this is in response to recent events?
I absolutely adore this, its a tune.
HELL YEAH DAVEED IS HERE TO MAKE YA DAY
thank y'all. i needed that.
let's goooo
truly sublime beat
Grateful for this uplifting acid symphony 🙏
i cannot wait for this album

Cool bit of trivia: over on Twitter, they confirmed that the art for this single was done by The Designers Republic, who you might also know as the studio that did all the iconic graphic design for the Wipeout games.
Nice acid techno feel
Missed you guys
i was just listening to clipping when this came out 🙏
i was about to hit the bed, but it was just burning down 'cause they boys released pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 once again as usual.
I've never been more hype for an album in this current decade
But what the heck is that sample, with the chick saying "Hey" throughout the song?
holy shit, this is so good.
