A feature that would be nice for the glimmer system is a dock eject/release button. This would make it so much more user friendly for all crafters. Hopefully this will be considered for the next version for a real “new” system. Great class.
@@marylynncox7599that is true on any craft tooL. This suggestion will help people enjoy hot foiling that have chronic conditions that affect their hands. People without chronic conditions are having trouble using this current system. Positive feedback is more helpful in making things more user friendly for all crafters.
I think this is a great suggestion! I don't have any chronic conditions that affect my hands, but I still have a hard time pulling the stacked plates out from the base. I can't see how an eject button would break?
I’d love it. My Glimmer is hard to pry from the dock without messing up the plate, foil and card stock lined up! It is so frustrating I do not hot foil much. Frustrating when I do!
I have owned the Glimmer system for more than a year and have not taken it out of the box. This video is super helpful. I am ready to try glimmering! Thank you.
I would give my right arm for a Glimmer machine. Maybe not...but, you know what I mean. ENJOY. Hammermill 110 lb provides the best result for glimmering.
I've owned a Glimmer system since April 2022 and used it for the first time today. I recently purchased the Glimmer Virtual workshop class kits and just finished watching. I absolutely LOVE it! Thank you!
What a treat to see the studio setup and the other Spellbinders folks who make the magic happen! This video, along with all the Glimmer Bootcamp videos, was very helpful. A shout out for the foil trimmer. I didn't think I needed that tool until I discovered I absolutely, positively stink at cutting foil with a scissor. Definitely not my super power. Now my foil has straight lines and as little waste as I can manage!
Watched the replay of this class. I did not want to purchase the kits prior since I had have problems glimmering in the past. Watched the video, then went and tried Kim's tips with the hot foil plates I own. This time I had so much success foiling that I just went and purchased both of the kits along with a couple of other items. Thank you Spellbinders for being such an awesome company. I have been a customer for many many years and y'all just get better and better.
Thank you for the whole glimmer bootcamp experience. My glimmer system is not due to be delivered until later this week, but I feel as if I have a good understanding of how to use it, and what can be achieved. Thank you so much! 😊
Just stumbled across this video. Have had my glimmer for almost a year and enjoy it. But WOW . . . so many new tips that I learned in this video. Can't wait to try some of them. EXCITED! Love love LOVE Spellbinders!!!! (it's my fave card making tool & supplies company!)
I love this machine, all the plates, and foils. My only complaint and I hope Spellbinders makes an improvement is the magnetic pick up tool. I wish it were stronger for the larger/heavier plates.
THANK YOU KIM...awesome teaching so very many techniques for the glimmer. Have only just discovered your boot camp and you helped me enormously so much that i can now hot foil confidently without fear of burning my fingers or messing up.
que buena explicación y eso que no hablo ingles y no hay subtítulos, pero visualmente puse mucha atención y pude hacer un estampado perfecto, antes no había podido. Gracias de nuevo!!!
Thanks, this is a really excellent tutorial! My Glimmer is in the mail, on the way to me, but I figured I should study up before it gets here. You answered a lot of the questions I have, and I’m glad to know that it is even more versatile than I thought.
Caught the replay. Excellent job Kim! Really enjoyed all the information. Learned additional techniques I didn’t know existed. Appreciate y’all taking the time to share all this information with us!
Had to watch the replay but it was great! I learned so much. Thank you! Foiling on the ribbon and the die cut pieces were WOW things for me. Kim you are a wonderful teacher! 😊😊
Thank you for posting this workshop. So many things I relearned and learned. Didn't know you can layer hot foils. I will definitely use the hinge method. Putting the sentiments horizontally in the P6. Oh, and my fav, glimmering die cuts. I found my two packs glimmer paper while watching this too. Win, win.
Watched the replay. Thank you for the terrific workshop. I learned many tips and tricks for using my glimmer machine. I’m excited to try layering the foils and foiling ribbon. Excellent presentation by Kim. Thank you all. 😊
Thanks for this demo, l just got a Glimmer & you provided so much helpful info! Could you please give a link or the name of the eraser you used? 😂 I’ve looked & can’t find anything like it. I appreciate the time & resources it took to provide this demo. Excellent! 🙏🏻👍🏼💖👏🏻
I have a question about the Glimmer Speciality Paper. In Spellbindets website this is in the description of the paper: This versatile paper is also ideal for alcohol ink use. The 76lbs cardstock is coated to enable inks, watercolors, and other mixed media mediums to dry on its surface to prevent from bleeding into it. I know this video is several months old. Did the composition of this cardstock change? I’m so new on trying to figure out the difference in cardstock. Thanks!
Watching the re-watch and just ordered my bundle as my Mother’s Day gift. :) question- what’s the best way to store the foil? both the rolls and the the extra pieces we can re-use with the solid plates?
Hi, we recommend our Assemble & Store Glimmer Foil Roll Station to store your foils! You can find it here: spellbinderspaperarts.com/products/assemble-store-glimmer-foil-roll-station?_pos=41&_sid=373f28163&_ss=r as for the extra pieces of foil- we recommend laying them flat and storing them in a folder or something equivalent!
My machine is on its way from Amazon, so I’m excitedly watching this video to learn more. Question: Can I colour foiled images with alcohol markers, (ie Stampin’Up! Blends).
Amen to that. Mine is so tight I ruin at least a third of my foils trying to get it undocked. I rarely use just for that reason, way too difficult and stressful.
Is there ANY trick to getting the glimmer plate “undocked”? I have done everything but stand on my head and sometimes can hardly get it undocked. I love Spellbinders but this is my 2nd Glimmer system. I saved up and bought a new one because about 3/4 of the time, if not more, even tho the light quit blinking when redocked, it just cooled down almost as if I had shut it off, behaving like the first one. I thought maybe I had broken it but both systems act the same. I’m starting to think about getting a different system.😢
I have a Gemini foil press and die cut machine. Am I right to assume I can use those for all these techniques? I really want to get the kit and do this!

Just something to break on the system

I'd love an eject button too. I have strong wrists but they ache for days after using my Glimmer machine, it is so difficult to undock.

Turning the sentiments vertical is a great tip! I never thought of that!
Finally watching on replay. These projects are so beautiful

❤now I am brave enough to use my glimmer 🎉
@Nicole Westervelt, I cannot thank you enough. This has made all the difference in the world!!! You are an angel!
After watching this whole video, I know want a glimmer machine. I love the dies that you can get. Seems so easy to do.

I use a little WRMK roller blade thingy, cant add a photo here but its great

You are so right. I didn't learn much until I practiced what you taught. My hubby is supportive. He says it's just a learning curve go for it
I had it on my calendar but forgot to watch on Saturday! I will be watching the replay this week - thank you!
I watched the replay. Thanks for all the tips you gave us during the video. And I watched over 3 days.

I"M SO BUMMED!! I just found this video and I had NO idea there were different machines, except US & UK. I got the old one for Christmas.
This was such a helpful video and I am sure I will watch it several times until I feel comfortable using my glimmer machine!

Watching the replay - excited to try double foiling!
What a fun video. Love the double foiling.
Am thinking about purchasing this machine. Thank you so much for sharing this video. It definitely helped... love this machine!! ❤️🌷

I don’t have a machine yet, I’m hoping to invest in one by the end of the year. This has helped so much to know what all goes into it. Thank you!
Definitely appreciate this video. I have had my system for months, finally I can take it out of the box and use it!
AWESOME! Thank you.
I watched this on the replay it was really helpful thank you so much. X

Ribbon foiling?, 😱 who knew it could be done! Love all the tips!
Hi doing the re-watch
Watched the replay. Thank you for the terrific workshop. I learned many tips and tricks for using my glimmer machine. I’m excited to try layering the foils and foiling ribbon. Excellent presentation by Kim. Thank you all. 😊
Much needed tutorial Thanks 👍
Awesome class thank you
Fantastic and helpful video! Thanks so much!

I do sentiment that way always unless I am doing directly to the base

Wish I would have known about this workshop.
Have you tried parchment paper with the glimmer die for thicker lines. It goes in front of the pretty side

Nice!
Amen to that. Mine is so tight I ruin at least a third of my foils trying to get it undocked. I rarely use just for that reason, way too difficult and stressful.
It works much better using Kim's undocking method and breaking it in with more use

Can I use my Gemini Jr machine?
Can you use this with the Gemi
Is the yellow tape you are using a type of heat resistant tape?
I had to catch the rewatch. Did anyone ask if Yupo paper would melt? (Great video!)
Kim talks about this in the video! It won't melt and can be used- however it won't give you the same result as using Glimmer Speciality Cardstock.
When I do the hinge method on regular cardstock I find I lose some of the foiling on the middle of the plate. What can I do to correct this?
I have a Go Power and Emboss machine will that work
I have a Gemini foil press and die cut machine. Am I right to assume I can use those for all these techniques? I really want to get the kit and do this!
Yes you can use your Gemini machines for this!
Thank you for the nice Video 👍🤩🤩 Wich eraser did you use to remove the gold foil? Sorry for my english…. Greetings Natascha
A Sand Eraser: This handy tool helps eliminate any over foiling you might have

Are Glimmer Hands on Workshop and Glimmer Virtual Workshop two different videos or the same just referred to differently? Confusing!
They are the same! Sorry for the confusion
I put my paper on right away and no warping (I have the Gemini )
What does the double heating do?
Double heating is only recommended for big solid plates to get the best results.
What do you do when your machine shutdown and won't come 12:38 on
please send an email to customersupport@spellbinders.us with photos/videos if possible.
