  • This honesly didn't take me that long to learn how to walk on the highest setting (40 inches). I got them for christmas of 2022, and by the next weekend I was already walking around a few inches taller than the original 24 inches. Like I said in the video, I don't really do construction/drywall work, I just got these for the fun of it. Be sure to keep a look out for some stilt walking in future videos, because I will probably be making more.

Hello, my name is Hayden W. Bradley and thank you for watching my videos.
Welcome to my channel where I do vlogs, reviews, and random stuff... I was born in Boulder Colorado in 2003, however I live in the past... well not actually, but I know a whole lot about things from the 1960's through the 1980's, so don't be surprised if you notice a retro theme in some of my videos. I usually try to upload a video every 2-3 days. So as they use to say on TV:
Don't touch that dial and stay tuned for more....

I'm a drywaller by trade. But when I was learning to get better on stilts at 40", I did fall once on grass.
I was bending over to take them off, lost my balance and fell forward.
Landed basically like you did, hit my knees first, them immediately went to hips and entire forearms/hands simultaneously
(a little faster than you did, as it spread my weight out faster causing less impact on my knees).
This is absolutely the best way to fall, I did marital arts as a teen and practiced falling a lot for grappling reasons.
I had no injuries at all, no pain at all, and was able to roll over and take the stilts off.
But in a construction scenario you're likely to fall on OSB or concrete which would likely hurt more, especially on the knees.
My boss fell once on 40" (slipped in drywall mud on a slick plastic like paper that protects the floor)
he broke a rib and I think had a couple other minor injuries, keep in mind he's still a much better drywaller/stilt walker than me but got unlucky.
Very interesting, entertaining, and good video.
I wonder, Why did you buy drywall stilts?

Thank you for watching and replying!
That's awesome, I had seen videos and read different articles about how to fall the safest way possible. However if you're doing work with them on, it's not always as easy to fall the correct way as it is when you're not working. I need to learn to fall better like you, because from the way I landed in the video, I could tell that it would be easy to injure my knees.
I asked for drywall stilts last Christmas because I had always wanted to learn to walk on stilts. I don't have a drywalling job, and once when I was extremely young my family and I went to a Margaritaville restaurant in Panama City (I think. it may have been in Key West) and they had people walking around on stilts. Since that age, I was probably about 8-9, I had been fascinated by stilt walkers but didn't know where to buy them for myself. Fast forward about 10 years later, I got a pair as a gift and immediately started trying to walk them. I have fallen 2 times from 40", once like you did because I was also trying to take them off, and the second time was when I tripped over a cord in our front yard and fell pretty hard on my side. My ribs hurt pretty bad for about 1 - 1 1/2 months afterwards. Since that time I have gotten better at walking on them and I have helped put up and take down Christmas decor/change floodlight bulbs/etc... I've also just gone on walks around my neighborhood.
I still have some room for improvement though, sometimes when I'm walking from the driveway to the front yard, the difference between the concrete and the grass/dirt really throws me off for a few steps.

Great video, just bought these on Amazon. A professional recommended I buy a pair for drywalling my house. That is pretty high; I have mine set at 18" only, hehe.

Awesome and you're welcome!! They have been a pretty durable brand, I fell on the highest setting the other day and surprisingly these didn't get banged up too bad.
Thanks for watching and be safe!!

I have been walking on stilts for 40 years. It's no fun falling with sharp tools in your hands.

Well I can't say that I've fallen with sharp tools in my hand, but I have fallen pretty hard before. Hope you didn't get too badly injured with a sharp tool.
