Mother and Daughters

Weep for the daughter standing alone
Weep for the mother who cannot reach her
And so the daughter feels abandoned
Their worlds so needlessly apart as they live side by side
For the wall of protection and shame firmly stands
Impenetrable; immovable
The daughter mourns; the mother longs but cannot see
A lifetime goes by
The daughter struggles, she struggles to become
The mother can only sit, and watch, and focus on other
Until the transition comes and a moment, a moment occurs just before
Yet time is no more
And so the years go by
The daughter finds joy in her own daughter's happiness
Then the music returns!
The music sings, the music sings to the daughter's heart
She finds her voice again!
The music and her daughter's love have made her whole
A hand reaches down from heaven, hoping her daughter will see
Hoping her daughter will forgive, will forgive, will forgive
As the daughter reaches up from earth
