    OH man i was haveing a cow. LOL i worked in a tire shop for 7 years. practace mounting some of the old tires. make shure the bead is in the rim well. you need all the slack you can git. your last try was right on track. keep at it and have fun.

    I have been thinking about one of these tire apparatuses. Mostly for trailer tires.

      Taught our son how to use our antique bead breaker. It takes the two of us to hold the tire in place so it does not slip out. Spoons and Hammer removal. A couple of rims ended up with dings while he was learning.

      It's worth it just as another hand to hold the rim in place for sure, thanks for watching

    Clamp a pair of vise grips on the rim instead of the little tire iron to keep the bead from slipping back off. If you have trouble getting the bead to seat take the valve core out and use a blow gun instead of the tire chuck.

    I am guessing the opposite bead was not in the drop centre of the rim? I'll be where you are in a few weeks.

      A few have suggested leaving the valve core out while airing up to seat the bead. The thought is it the valve may be restricting flow when you need it most.

    If you're going to be doing more tires consider addind the duck bill conversion for this changer. Lots of videos on this conversion

    You're suppose to put that bar on the wheel first. And then put the tire on the rim and then put the tire on as much as you can, then swing the bar around to complete the install!

  • @Dartguy340
    @Dartguy340 6 місяців тому

    You need to make sure that when the tire is going on the wheel, that the tire is in the smallest area of the inside of the wheel.

    Is it possible to mount the tire with the pretty painted side down so you’re prying on the back side? Then flip it to air it up?

    “Don’t make me go watch a video”
    Unfortunately, most videos get the mount head wrong too. :( It’s a shame, since the instructions are no help either. No pictures, no explanation, no nothing. Definitely not laughing!
    “Seems counter-intuitive”
    Yeah, the bead has to stay above the rim when it crosses the mount head which basically stretched a small portion past the edge of the rim so that it can fall down below on the trailing side. You have to manually force bead down on the trailing side before you start so that it is tight enough to pull the trailing bead down as you work the mount head. It’s like a tire spoon taking one continuous bite!

      You are so right, I'm getting it figured out, mounted two more tires since this video, it's getting a little easier, thanks for watching

    I just bought one last week, and need to mount it on plywood or a pallet. IM in 70th yr, and it wont be easy, i can tell. with big P235/75/15 tires. Thank you very much for your honest video!

    This was fun. I know your pain. Now do it on a bench without a tire change tool. Now that is fun. The only difference is even the devil would leave the room after i bitch out the tires.

    Well that was different, I am thinking that the other side of the long arm tool needed be mounted a differently to make it easier to mount the tire. I understand why you got the manual tire changer to save
    money, it gets expensive having tires mounted. Keep up the great work.
    Thank,
    Tim

    Use some common sense! You are not even making sure that the left side of the tire is in the center of the wheel while you are trying to put it on!

    • @Michaelinthebackyard
      @Michaelinthebackyard  5 місяців тому

      Woah, this guy comes out swinging. It's been a couple of months since this video came out and I may have learned a few things since then, and yes you are correct in saying the opposite side of the tire you are prying on needs to get deeper towards the center of the rim. Common sense is not so common, I see it everyday, thanks for watching
