So since some of you seem a bit unclear about the origins of the story I thought I would clarify. Black Swan is not based on Princess Tutu even though Princess Tutu came earlier, both Black Swan and Princess Tutu (and Swan Princess, if you're like me and grew up watching that movie) are all based on the Russian ballet "Swan Lake", which was composed back in 1875.
