Im new to soldering i have never done it before im going to attempt it on my ps5 controller to replace the analong stick. What are you using here to desolder. I have no idea what im looking at can you help me understand? So you heat it up and touch it to the point and it puffs up did u add any flux before that? How did it bubble that easy bc i have a desoldering pump so i can desolder very easily if i can remove it easy as show here
@@miser_y yeah man i started soldering a practice kit and messed up so bad its a good thing i didnt go straight to the controller i would have destroyed it. Really hard to not melt points together and also my wick i ordered the same wick as in the video when i tried to desolder the wick stuck to the solder on the pcb and the wick burned into the pcb and is stuck to it
@@miser_yhe using low melt solder to help it mixed with the nonleaded solder to lower the melting point its a lot easier with a heat gun to melt it all at once and the joystick will fall out with a little encouragement then you use solder wick to get the res of the solder out

I think these controllers use lead-free solders which have higher melting point compared to solder with lead in it. The goal is to add solder that has lead content onto the factory solder to lower its melting point so that it can easily be melted and removed.
Usually Sony applies lead free solder which, although it has better conductivity, it also has a higher melting point which makes it harder to remove. Leaded solder (60% tin 40% lead) has lower melting point, so if you mix them together you end up with a lower melting point solder, thus making it easier do remove.
Not tryna brag but it is easy and I new to soldering started about 1 month ago never had went to school only UA-cam video and pure dedication but a electronicsoder sucker is a cheat code 😂😂
You can buy it for some bucks in Aliexpress or eBay. Just take look if your controller uses a 10k (printed 103) or 2.3k (printed 232), 2,3 are usually for newest controllers including ps5 .
Bro can u tell me if this could work,i have 2 controllers from 2016 and one of them has battery and usb port that don't work and other one has L3 that dont work, can i take all parts from them that work and make one controller that work,if u dont know its ok😅
possibly yes. Just keep in mind there are 5 models of ps4 controllers, many parts are interchangeable between all, but not every part. there is a good list on this link: www.consoleskins.nl/en/manuals/what-generation-controller-do-i-have/playstation-4/ , all v1 controllers (from gen1 to gen3) have all same mechanic parts, so you would be good to go.
You can put X box 🎁 elite series 2 base potentiometers in a DS4 🎮🕹️🕹️🎯🎯 to gain stick tension screw driver 🪛 adjustment 😉 (I've done it with my own custom sticks 🕹️🕹️), but I don't know if the dust cup clearance will work for space requirements for sure 🤔🧐 there's a high chance of success knowing stock DS4 stick 🕹️ dust cups are ever so slightly bigger in hemisphere than an X box standard dust cup 🧐, but again not absolute fact I can only guess as the dust cup base diameter is smaller on Xbox sticks, seating height unknown 🤷🏼♂️. If your solder skills are studied go for it otherwise there's a risk 💸💸🔥🔥 the stick 🕹️🕹️ sets alone are not cheap for such an aged machine upgrade, just a heads up...

Very good techniques. Thanks for sharing with a super zoom camera!
I need this, For long time i need this method
Thankyou mister
Smart one 🤓
didn't able think this way 😅
thought that blower is the only way 😁
Give this man a beer, please!

No flux?
Why does fresh solder have to be applied first?

for anyone attempting this just get cheap electric solder sucker otherwise without experience you have no chance to do what guy did here

Fixed 6 controllers so far sold one ☝️
what thing that u use to remove the soldering wire
Solder wick
My issue is that I keep melting the underside of the joysticks when removing them with a hot air gun
why heat gun ???? you need cheap electric solder sucker(the one heating solder) nothing more to desolder it
Can you post a link to the sticks? Thx

@@mbpradoster oh, you have used normal sticks, I was searching for hall effect ones... Oh, well...
@@BornInArona hal sensors are directly on the motherboard so it is not a replaceable thing because it wasn't there to begin with.
@@Aveziz exactly, from the moment, there is no direct way to replace a resistive stick for a magnet/hal one if the board was not designed for it.

It is a controller board, discrete components. Those pads are fine with heat, prepared for lead free soldering.
RIP board
