Where possible, all links are affiliate links, this youtube thing is an expensive endeavor and every little bit helps. - Наука та технологія
Some power meters read differently at different frequencies even though the radio actually put out the same power. A simple swr/power meter intended for HF will over indicate at VHF.
Very true - in this case, the meter has a separate physical path for HF vs V/U measurements.
Are you doing another radio install in the truck at Huntsville?
It's a possibility!
Got a mfj 80-20 endfed antenna in an inverted v to just get it to fit in my small back yard. Done everthing I can and can't get the swr lower than 1.7 to 1.9 usung my mfj 998 autotuner. No counterpoisr but using a ground wire to a ground rod about 6 ffot from the transformer. Any ideas on being able to get the swr a little lower eith the auto tuner? I am shooting for 3963 on the 75 meter band fir the antenna
An SWR of 1.5:1 is good, so you’re not far off. There are so many variables the only thing to do is “tweak” the antenna to see if you can improve the match. You can try disconnecting the ground connection and use a counterpoise instead. Try moving the transformer to a different position. If there are any metallic objects near the wire, maybe relocating it may help. If nothing else helps, the tuner in most radios will easily handle your small mis-match. There’s always some compromise when working HF. Good luck, I hope to work you on the air.
What @N2YTA said - add counterpoise, make adjustments, use internal tuner to "touch up"... You're on the right track!
@N2YTA That swr is after the tuner does its thing so I imagine it is very high before the tuner tricks the radio into thinking it has a good match. Thx for the reply.
@@temporarilyoffline Will try a counterpoise next even though MFJ says not to use one and just run to a good ground rod connection. Thx for the reply.
@@dheller777 sorry I missed that part. An SWR of less than 2:1 is usable, but there are things you can do to improve the situation. Try a 1:1 choke or coil up a few feet of coax at the feed point. Try moving things around, the transformer, the wire, anything can affect it. How long is your coax? Random wire antennas need some length of feed line, but half wave end feds don’t. I also have a small space to work so I comprise. Keep at it, you’ll get a system that works. . . . HF antennas can break your heart!
TO is wanted by interpol or US customs won't let him back in? Which one is why he won't come back to the US?
Did you see the debate the other night? That's why, if I left, I wouldn't come back.
