You did great, dude. I thought you looked pretty smooth. Not bad for your first race and this course is hard...so well done! So what happened up front was we from Evoke had a guy in the break, so we were shutting down the chase a bit....then he got popped with 6 to go. So then we had to rally and get the guys chasing. But we had no help from any of the other teams and Davis Phinney Foundation (who had 2 in the break) were subtly disrupting our chase attempts. So the break of 4 stayed off. Bart was not happy!
Gotcha. Yeah that makes sense. I heard one of the big orange guys ask if we caught the break but it was in the last few laps. Thanks for the encouragement! I hope to be out there all year.
Nicely done and the new kit looks good! Spotted it on Chris in the cat5 (rolled up to him two or three times in the race). This Masters field was as smooth as butter compared to the novice race, lol.
Yes, the race flows a lot smoother and faster. Not as many surges either. It's not easy but when the speed stays higher, it's smoother and safer for the most part. The Cat 5 races have too many lateral movements.
With all due respect the only advice younger riders can learn is about what not to do. 1.- you are getting too much wind pretty much the whole race. 2.- you spent the whole race at the rear of the peloton . It seems to me you don't know how to ride between two or more riders, everytime the bunch slows down and compresses you seem to go backwards instead of forward. If you are fit enough not to get dropped you can ride closer to the front. The 63 yr old who won most likely was also winning when he was 50, the same guys who won races in Cat 1 are the ones winning the masters races.
Welcome to Masters! Thanks for wearing a helmet cam and posting. See you at the next one.
Thank you. I appreciate the support!
Very nice! So smooth out there. You did great.
Thank you sir. Hopefully I'll see you in Boise this year.
Rockstar my dude!
Racing smooth. Proud of you. Stay safe.
New kit looks sick!
🔥😎✌️ 🪂🪂🪂🪂
Thank you! I appreciate it.
Well done Cap! Looking efficient and aware of how the race was evolving.
