Why would anyone buy the luxury version of a basic product such as a pen? That pen would retail at a higher price than a Bic pen, so why should I pay a higher price for it? Branding it as luxury pen for fine penmanship might be a solution. The next step might be to couple the pen with a journal, and selling both as a single package.

He understood market segmentation by putting them into two group of buyers the single people and the betting people. Which lead them to be his targeted audience.
