Lyrics:
One man come in the name of love
One man come and go.
One man come he to justify
One man to overthrow.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resist
One man washed up on an empty beach
One man betrayed with a kiss.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
Early morning, April four
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky.
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.

One of the most amazing and powerful songs ever written.
Thank you God for MLk, Jesus and the soldiers of all wars. They died in the name of love so we can have peace.
God? Jesus? Jaja. Jajajajaja
Not quite.. no god.. no jesus.. you're alone in a universe 450 billion light years across
MLK tried to find love and equality and was murdered
The soldiers didn’t die in the name of love. They died in the name of imperialism, needless conflict, and greed

What makes it interesting is that the line was referencing Martin Luther King Jr.
Yes! “Early morning, April 4, shots rang out in the Memphis sky.”
If king were alive today he'd be marked as a domestic terrorist. They silenced him and gave him a holiday to poorly hide their crime.
Greetings from Germany
Love this song as much today as when it first debuted. U2 will forever be one of my favorite bands of all time. They are magical to me.
Idem ❤
Són muy grandes músicos e intérpretes de los sentimientos del rock que no morirá jamás ❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
It's a beautiful piece of work
U2 are just GIANTS !!!!! This song is incredibly powerful. It gives some sort of uplift !!!!! Love it .
Right 👍
The best thing in this song is, without doubt, The Edge's guitar. So unique! The guy's a fucking genius!!!
That guitar sure sounds so awesome!!! Like the whole song, it's so epic!
makes me wanna cry!!!
Yeah for real no one else has that tone.... You instantly know it's him
Just like Brian May and Mark Knopfler
He plays with his pick backwards, also his pick has dimples on it for grip. but since he plays backwards the dimples grab onto the strings and make that unique and beautiful sound.
No matter how many years pass, this song will stay in our hearts forever!💖💖💖
One of the greatest singing performances ever. Hands down.
Gives me chills
I am a fan of U2 since 1984! Their songs have a profound meaning and stll represent a guide for me... I am 52 years old now and I have been following U2 since I was 14 years old !
I'm a little older but same here. I remember really buzzing that they were going to belive on the Old Grey Whistle Test. I had a proper teenage epiphany that night! A band timed just right and they felt like my band.
Me too but I was only 11 and now 49
@@73Fasty iam 25 and i love this :)
I'm 64 and just started listening to this excellent band!
I'm 57 years old now. I met Bono twice during the Unforgettable Fire tour in Hollywood, Florida. I'm a huge fan of The Who and so is Bono so we had a lot to talk about. Bono mentioned to me it is Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders doing the vocals at the end of Pride In The Name of Love where she sings the "oh oh oh oh....oh oh oh oh" part.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how well the guitar effects are used in this song? So often they tend to be way overused, and also used in the complete wrong places. The Edge gets it 100% right here, and it works with the overall timbre of the song. Absolutely world class guitar knowledge
✨✨✨
Yep . Signature .
✨ this song ... in memory of 'MLK' 🙏 ... Martin Luther King (r.i.p.) 🙏 Your Vision will be forever and ever! this World got to take ... ✨
Agreed 👍
at the begining of the song "where the streets have no name", the guitar riff is also awesome...a way of guitar playing what I have rarely heard.
"Early morning, April four,
A shot rings out in the Memphis sky,
Free at last. They took your life,
They could not take your pride."
This song's almost 40 years old and I hear it random times throughout each one mostly on the radio but those lyrics still get me every single time.
And likely always will.
Is it because it reminds you of Martin Luther King Jr.
My child was born on that day and I can only hope that he will embody everything that Martin Luther King Jr and those that advocated for a world based on equality did. ❤
HAPPY MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY!
One man betrayed with a kiss. There's alot more to this song than it's inference to MLK
We know the lyrics!!!
One of the most powerful songs in music history: a hymn
My parents broke up when I was 9 years old and I cried myself to sleep every night. The only thing that could calm me was this song. It was the song I’d listen to every time I was sad and I still do now.
Im sorry to hear that ... but sometimes it's better that way... be strong ... 🙏
Music is magical for processing emotion.
cool story bro
That is the beauty of music. Songs hold a special place in our hearts.
I can relate.
This song is just epic with a strong meaning behind it. Bono has an amazing voice and just puts so much heart into it.
When I was 3-4 years old, my dad would pick me up from preschool and play this song as he drove me home. As blurry, and faded as the memory is, this is the very first song I remember ever listening to. It’ll forever be part of my early childhood.
hang on to that part of your childhood.
One of the best songs ever written, never lose hope, love will come in whatever form.
" Love is Bigger than Anything in its Way.". U2.
It's about MLK assassination

Not the biggest U2 Fan but this is for sure one of the best songs ever. Powerful lyrics, wonderful guitar riff and of course Bono's incredible voice.
HELL I don't even know what a "riff" is but I love it!
Yes I have to agree with you 🎸
How can you not be a U2 fan tho…? 😆
absolutely agree - I wouldn’t class myself as a U2 fan, but their early 80s/post-punk stuff is brilliant. This; Sunday Bloody Sunday; New Year’s Eve.
And the drummer...this is probably the only song that compells me to play air drums.
Wonderful song
A song that makes you feel courageous, free, happy and yes, pride, just for existing, what else could you ask from a song? Thank you u2
Most underrated song in history. This is an anthem, easily in top 10 of rock singles.
Agreed !
Yes and probably #1.
...with the most underrated guitar-player of all times.
You people need to learn English. In order for something to be underrated it has to be unpopular. This song is one of the most popular songs ever, top 500 by Rolling Stone, in fact it was U2's first Top 40 in the US. It's had covers and has been used in movies and television shows. Hard for it to have been more popular.
Underrated? Bruh, this is like U2's most popular song.
this song is amazing through headphones in a dark bedroom with closed eyes, nothing but you and the music

very true
"They took your life but the could not take your pride" People need to really listen to the words of 80's music.
I like how you group "80's music" into one category, like it's all one genre, and every 80's song is as deep as this.
This song should not be categorised in one genre of 80’s music as it is timeless and U2 are more than an eighties band it would like saying The Beatles are a sixties band,80’s bands are like Heaven 17, Human League,Blancmange,OMD,
bands that never had much success outside the 1980s
I love that line too. This song makes me feel strong and and powerful. Best kind of music no doubt.

I had the blessing of working in a record store in 84-85 when I was 18. The amount of great music I was exposed to... there are no words.
You were at ground zero for some amazing music!
@@thegteam4349 Right?! Wham! even stopped by one night. The store was in LA and they were on their way to the airport. Fatburger was two doors down (I gained SO much weight at that job lol). It was late and we were closed, but we still got them to come in and sign a bunch of stuff. We had a Ticketmaster in the store, so I can't even tell you how many concerts I went to that I wouldn't have otherwise (Prince's Purple Rain 6 times, the last of which my friend and I actually got on stage). It really was the best first job that anybody could ever hope to have. Our manager was cool as hell, and more than half of us were fresh out of high school. In the summer after the store closed at 11 on Friday and Saturday nights, we'd take a Duralog out to the beach to just chill. Our customers even noticed how much fun we were having. In seems completely ridiculous to me now, but they'd tell us that they lived closer to another store in our chain, but they'd come to ours because the staff was so helpful. We'd have people singing to us when they didn't know the name of a song or who it was by, and the crew was diverse enough that somebody could figure it out (no matter how bad the singing was 🤣). The store also had a video side (in the days that renting videos meant standing in long lines), so even those of us on the audio side would help our favorite customers by jumping them in front of the line or just zeroing out their charges so they could just return the videos without waiting in line. Very special job 😊

Ok class when I get mad I will give something that you never had. Young people throughout the world were taught be people who call themselves educated to fear Jesus Christ and the 5 percent. That's knowledge born November 2 1970. Some who call themselves Christians have fear of high rolling shit I have fears too. But right is right and wrong is wrong stealing money for a cause no matter what it is still wrong class evil is a verb it is action and whatever you do in life wherever you may find yourself good will always overcome the bad. Yo. Church is on Sunday but what about the rest of the week. You stand on the corner and sell drugs. At the end of the day when the sun goes down what you going to do with the surplus throw it away. Hell no you going to smoke the shit and have the latin plug who also would rather switch than fight fairly in Armageddon. Don't mimic talk and write in Hebrew like josh Jacob says be a woman and or man and be real with yourself because in the end you have no one but yourself to blame for your own ass kicking you will and have already received.
