Facetache...were the 80's perfect? Nope. BUT... We were the generation that grew up with Mr. Roger's and the original Sesame Street, and Schoolhouse Rock. We were taught that it was OK to ask questions (because THEIR parents didn't talk to them), to use reason and logic to figure things out for ourselves ('they were taught to be seen and not heard'), and BE OURSELVES (because girls wanted to wear Jean's and the guys to have long hair). Personal ideas and creativity were also encouraged. Our neighbors all knew each other and we'd sit on the front porch in the eves and waved at passersby, and run to meet 'the new kids across the street' because it was a pretty rare thing when folks moved. We could ride our bikes all day until the streetlights came on, and the worst thing a parent could ever say to most kids was "I'm disappointed in you." As older teens we had Archie Bunker and Mr. George Jefferson. Racist and bigoted? Absolutely. (My parents absolutely hated that I watched, because it was about 'the stuff they taught us was wrong'...but I KNEW I needed to SEE and HEAR those things in 'real-life' context. I explained to mom, it's just tv...I never knew people like that. If they were, they hid it well...but quite unlikely because I was perceptive.) Bunker (Jefferson, too once in awhile) got taught lessons and was shown to be the fool he was, everytime. Also, 'All In The Family' was probably one of, if not THE most progressive shows ever because it brought so many social/economic issues right to the forefront of our attentions...race, lgbtq/mixed race, education, relationship dynamics, poverty and depression, rape, miscarriage, religion, women's rights...I could go on and on... Almost everything there was to watch had a moral thread/lesson running thru it. Sometimes right out there, sometimes subtle. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad...and we understood the difference. I never knew until I was an adult that Mr. Roger's was a minister and imho, a truly profound Christian (or what my definition of one would be⚘). I don't remember even one time him mentioning 'God' in his 'Neighborhood'. He never needed to...he taught AND showed us for 30 minutes everyday that love, kindness, understanding, and empathy were the correct paths to take with each other. And then 'Reagan' happened. 'Trickle-Down', 'Group punishment', 'participation prizes', 'safe-spaces'. All beget entitlement. None are progressive. More like a national 'grooming' program, imho. Because there was a clear and sharp 'shift' in almost everything we knew. I don't know how else to explain it. Apologies for the length. ⚘

Yes there was. I think they had the testing done and then the girl decided she didn't want to know because it would upset things between her and her dads.
I am like so totally watching this right now on the antenna TV Channel network. I would definitely would love to see a reunion of My Two Dads. I think that would totally Rock to see
@loner1878 , You know I was thinking that too. Judge Wilbur(landlord)know who the dad is and something Nicole did too cause she was next to the Judge when she gave it to Joey and Michale & she did not have a happy look on her face. Then she was happy when she saw Nicole hug her dad's and riped up the DNA test. But still you got to wonder who was Nicole real dad? Was it Joey or was it Michale.
Nicole really didn't want to do the test, but since Michael and Joey did, she had no choice. Judge Wilbur was happy that Nicole loved both of them and that's why she was smiling. You can say that the judge was a surrogate mom.
It was in her mother's will. Legally, a person can designate two non-related people to be custodian of his/her minor child(ren). Michael and Joey were not lovers -- in fact, they hadn't spoken since being with Marcy.
This show raises an important question. Would you be able to raise a child with someone who regularly slept with someone you loved and also slept with? I don't think I could. You would think that Judge Wilbur would have tried to circumvent Marcy Bradford's will to avoid the possibility of emotional fallout and subsequent instability in Nicole's life.
Andrew Bjork how do you know thats what happened the way I understood it was they both had a relationship with her they may have been friends in college but that then they became not friends till they were given Nicole and she brought them together that and the shared love they have for her departed mother and Yes I would be able to raise a child with someone if I knew that they truly loved and cared for that person that I did and if that person was no longer with us
Legally, a person can designate nearly anyone as legal guardian of one's minor child(ren) upon death. As long as the person isn't disqualified (say, for being a sexual predator) and the deceased was of sound mind when making the decision, the courts have no power to stop it.
Dean Te Tai She was not a good time girl she was young and she dated these 2 guys whom she cared for and had this child who she sadly died on when the girl was 16
If the show had gone on, it would've revealed that neither of them is the father and introduce a 3rd dad and the title of the show would've been changed to 'My Mom, The Whore' while introducing a 2nd child to the mix.
Oh my goodness... I STILL say under my breath "It's my building... I own it!" and NOW I remember where the Hell it CAME from!!!! BWAAA-HAAA-HAAAA!!!! Thank you SO MUCH for clearing this mystery up for me!!! :)
The reason is kind of a horrible basis for a family sit com. 13 years ago both men randomly had sex with the girls mother. The woman didn't tell them she ended up pregnant and that she didn't know which man was the father. Then she died in a car crash (I think) and in her will she said her daughter was to be raised by the two men since she didn't know which one was the true father. The issue of a paternity test was only raised once. They decided not to take one. The whole premise was LAME!

It happened in the episode "Pop, the Question." Judge Wilbur looks at the results after Nicole tosses them out, but never says anything. Imagine if neither of them turned out to be the real dad? LOL
And where were the Republicans and Tea Party when this obvious attack on traditional marriage was originally airing?
They were too busy scapegoating gay men for the AIDS epidemic.
The taller guy was a knock of George Michael.
Unrelated to Adam's RIB: GIOVANNI RIBisi was credited as Vonni RIBisi playing CORY Kupkus in "My Two Dads". Character CORY Kupkus uses the same "skipping E" bastardIzation of tradition COReY as Newark, NJ's uber-ambitious media-whore mayor, CORY Booker, who could one day run for U.S. Senate. Staci Keanan as NICOLE BRADford is unrelated to NICK GALifianakis losing a 1972 Senate race to conservative icon Jesse Helms (R-NC). MARK GALfione, GIOVANNI and Robert Christian starred for Top Dog in 2010
Staci Keanan (b. 6/6/75 in DEVON, PA) as daughter NICOLE BRADford in “My Two Dads” with GREG eviGAN and PAUL REiser (b. MAR. 30, 1957) is unrelated to watch?v=7pkiaXc0gfo or REpetition of time-despite AGAIN & RE phonetic roots. Still, surname BRADford could evoke BRADley GUMbEL, son of TV’s bRYANt GUMbEL. REiser turned 24 the day John WARnock HinCkley Jr. shot 40th prez Ronald WILSON Reagan. GIOVANNI RIBisi as CORY Kupkus is unrelated to MARK GALfione, GIOVANNI and Robert Christian’s 2010 video
Yes there was. I think they had the testing done and then the girl decided she didn't want to know because it would upset things between her and her dads.
LoL, I thought the taller dad was Kenny Loggins and that he sang the intro.
I couldnt believe it when I saw this clip...I used to love this show. I didnt completely get it, but I thought it was great...
I am like so totally watching this right now on the antenna TV Channel network. I would definitely would love to see a reunion of My Two Dads. I think that would totally Rock to see
Oh like wow, definitely, cool, absolutely, out of site, you know like awesome, far out, actually definitely a must, like totally rocks dude.
Stick to acting and drop the mic 🎤
I was at the taping of the pilot for this show! Forgot it was Paul Riser, before Mad About You.
Hey, wasnt that the chick from Step by Step?
One of my favorite great 80s sitcom what a great show this was and both great actors I wish they'd make shows like this today
Oh I remember this show, it was soooo good!
Wasn't this just the Odd Couple, but with a daughter?
What about Paul Reiser ? He was in Mad about you after this and is probably more recognizable then Giovanni Ribisi to most people.
@JisNUMEROuno
They did a DNA test on the show you know, she just decided not to look at the results.
the golden years of America
Don't worry, it will soon be on the LOGO network!
they never found out who the real dad was. They didnt want to know who the real father was.
@seonidh
Maybe a little bit like Stacy's two dads in the story of "Heather has Two Mommies"! Anyone remember that book?
From just knowing the title it seems pro-gay which is very suspicious for the era, so I'm wondering what the catch is.
TV shows these days just can't compare to the shows of the 1980's
Such great teenage years watching this show, I had a crush on Stacy, and then I was so happy seeing her on Step by Step .
0:07 I'm assuming not because they are married and gay for each other. Dont think the 80s could have handled that.
Why is there always a Joey?
Uncle Joey, Joey from Friends, My Two Dads Joey...
What judge on this planet says that that is a good idea.
It was in her mother's will. Legally, a person can designate two non-related people to be custodian of his/her minor child(ren). Michael and Joey were not lovers -- in fact, they hadn't spoken since being with Marcy.
I loved this show growing up. And I didn't know that Max Carl sang on the intro either till a friend told me.
Katybelle1983 No idea who Max Carl I knew is but Greg wrote and sang it too
Didn't they have paternity tests?
As long as the person isn't disqualified (say, for being a sexual predator) and the deceased was of sound mind when making the decision, the courts have no power to stop it.
so funny back then people would have so believed that reason these days we're so straight up about it. haha her mum was a good time girl!
Dean Te Tai She was not a good time girl
Dean Te Tai She was not a good time girl she was young and she dated these 2 guys whom she cared for and had this child who she sadly died on when the girl was 16
what was the moral of this show were the 2 men gay?? any body know??
Daddies, why was Mommy sleeping with so many guys at the same time?
Rip Dick Buctkus
If the show had gone on, it would've revealed that neither of them is the father and introduce a 3rd dad and the title of the show would've been changed to 'My Mom, The Whore' while introducing a 2nd child to the mix.
Sadly that's how it would have been scripted today. The '80s were a much more innocent time.
Staci Keenan was both my 80's and 90's crush
it would have been more successful/interesting if they were gay dads. lol.
Alot of goofy 🤪 shows in the 70s and 80s,but they were good at the time.
When I was a kid, I thought, what a neat thing to have 2 dads. Now that I'm older and having just watched the intro after 20 years, I realized something......
Nicole's (Staci Keenan's character) mom was a big ole freak! I guess this was pre-Maury days. Matter of fact, THEY prolly aint even her daddy, it was really Dick Butkis HAHAHAHA!
ZigZagWoman she wasn't a freak she was a young woman in college dating
Flash forward to present day they would have been gay and adopted her 😂
At the same time that omeone responded to a question that I had on this page, someone else responded to a post that I had made on a page for "Perfect Strangers". When I posted my last commen heret, I thought that I was on the "Perfect Strangers" page. I apologize for that mistake!
Good show
The Steve Harrington and Eddie Munson story
staci keanan used to be so good looking even on step by step you was good looking but now days she just ant as cute but still hase looks.
Dr. D and Show Pony sittin' in a tree.... ;)
I loved this show when I was a kid. I thought Greg Evigan was pretty cute.
How'd I get two dads?
Easy, I was in an orphanage on Fire Island!
Also known as " my mom was a skank"

I vaguely remember this show. Great theme songs (like alot of '80s sitcoms) but the show itself wasn't all that good, IMO. I just noticed that the judge/landlord sounds alot like the grandmother from dinosaurs.
the judge....is a dinosaur (Thumbs up if you get the joke)
According to Wikipedia, Staci Keanan retired from acting in 2012 and now practices law as her real name, Anastasia Sagorsky; she married Guy Birtwhistle in February 2017.
If they were trying to keep a low profile, they should have changed their names, lol!
@JisNUMEROuno this show had nothing to do with dna, or seaman, she was inherited from a will...
Maybe it's just me, but looking back as an adult, I think this show was pretty progressive for the 80's. Neither of them knew for sure who her father was, but they both stepped up to the plate and raised her.
LOAblue Yeah it was sweet how they loved her nowdays we have too many running from their parental responsibility here were 2 men fighting over a child not literally but they both wanted her LOL
I mean Paul reiterate uprooted his life to live in a scary junk artist house in a lower income part of new York, pur up with him, that judge and eat all his meals at that nasty greasy spoon the Football player ran, just to raise A Braty 16 yr old that may or may not be his daughter, and pay for her experience private school.
Subliminal message
Greg has been around FOREVER THIS WAS NOT HIS FIRST SHOW.
You guys don't know who Dick Butkus is? He's one of the greatest NFL players of all time!
