  • Learning Objectives:
    1. MicroRNAs and acute kidney injury
    2. miR-486-5p for AKI, the transition to CKD, and vascular outcomes in rats
    3. Effect of miR-486-5p in cultured endothelial cells
Dr. Adrianna Douvris completed her MD at the University of Toronto, and Internal Medicine and Nephrology residencies at the University of Ottawa. After clinical training, she pursued a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Ottawa in Dr. Kevin Burns' lab, focusing on microRNAs in acute kidney injury. She is now starting a KRESCENT post-doctoral fellowship with Dr. William Stanford's lab at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute to develop expertise with stem-cell derived kidney organoids, a novel model to study kidney disease mechanisms and to test therapies.
