Saw the movie a couple of days ago. It was good. Also, the best part of the movie Black Manta. Like, wow. Everytime he's on screen, my mind always goes "Yep. That's the Black Manta I knew from the books."
I'll admit. I prefer the armored Black Manta from the first film, BUT the silver head on the new movie suit. Would love to swap heads, but doubt they can unless the jetpacks can swap too. THEY HAVE SOME MINI/MAXI SERIES COMICS THEY COULD REPRINT FOR THESE PAGE PUNCHERS.
3:58 To be fair there's been cases where most of Manta's human head is actually in the neck. Which makes a lot of sense, given the whole "laser eyes thing" lol.
Both are fantastic, but my favourite is page punchers, he's just so badass, the fact they have made his more modern design that hasn't had any figures makes him stand out, he has a similar design in young justice and some animations
I personally prefer the movie version because it's much closer to the comic design that I've come to love and know for many years now. The Page Punchers is really cool though, it's an original design inspired from various sources like Young Justice and the first movie. That said, a recent Black Manta solo comic also used a similar design to the Page Punchers so it definitely has its place as a figure. I'm honestly just happy we have so many good Black Manta figures these days! 👍
Before watchin the video, just wanted to say thank you for another awesome year of reviews! BOTH of these figures made my top 10, with the movie one coming in tenth due to lack of weapons and that weird blue paint, and the page punchers came out as my figure of the year! edit: the page punchers design is close to his young justice look in the head, other than that I would say its an original look inspired by his other designs just like the injustice design, the helmet most likely only holds the upper part of his head, with his lower half being in the neck section, so the articulation doesnt really make sense, but the helmet isnt a problem
To be honest, the page punchers one feels more like Devil Ray from Justice Leauge Unlimited (who is Black Manata, but they weren't allowed to use the character proper) so in regards to a Justice Leauge/JL Unlimited collection or display, I could see Page Puncher working super well! Not sure which one i'll be picking up in the end since I love both for different reasons, but this was a useful video! keep up the great work!
Page Punchers wa actually my first dc multiverse figure I ever owned. It is a great figure with great accessories but as I build out my legion of doom I do find myself wanting a more classic looking Black Manta. Personally i think that both of these figures are great and It really depends on wheather you want a modern tech or a classic black manta.
I was and am very tempted by this Black Manta because he has that classic feel but I'm trying to be more budget conscious in 2024 and I already have the Page Punchers version. Plus, there aren't enough classic versions of other villains to make it work for me. It's also why I am torn on which Riddler to get, I need them to come out with a Two-Face, Penguin, or Scarecrow to know if my Batman rogues are going to skew modern or classic.
the cuts in the articulation make any character in a one piece, smooth bodysuit just look like a segmented, diapered mess. McF style articulation works best with armored designs like page punchers.
Im hoping we can see a head swap between these 2 figures. If the pegs don’t match im still curious to what ot looks like with the heads just floating on
After seeing the movie, it makes no sense at all that they didn't gave black manta the black trident, like dude, cordax holds it in *ONE* scene on the movie. They could, at least, gave him a broken trident that you can put on his back
@@5POAFigureReviews Good argument, but i'm just sayin' it's a greaf missed apportunity, It would of been so cool to have Cordax with his throne like Black Adam
I put the Mattel Multiverse movie Black Manta in my gaggle of comic villains on the shelf too, he looked so badass and the Sicily fight scene was one of DC's finest moments in film.
Oh Dr. Crane 😂 I have the page punchers ,the helmet is more classic with the movie but the trident was a weird missing item, I really enjoyed Aquaman 2 just another fun aquaman adventure Merry Christmas Jason 🎅🏻
The PagePunchers Black Manta is the only figure I got, and in my opinion, it's the best representation of the Black Manta. The Black Manta's helmet doesn't make him look like a human, his an alien and I like it! The Black Manta helmet, suit and the weapon make him look badass deadly assassin from the deep space!
Hmmmm, these just have some issues mainly the diaper on the Aquaman 2 Black Manta. But maybe do a custom with a Multiverse Talon torso and right arm, and extra weapons
I have both figures but the movie version is in the front of my display. Although I like the Page Puncher's version better I can't get over the head sculpt of it. You can't fit a human skull in that. So in my head cannon it's just an android helper..
It's a shame we never got a DC Multiverse figure of Black Manta from the first movie. I'm generally all about comic book accuracy, but I really liked his armored up diving suit look from that movie, and it's a design that lends itself really well to being action figure. The Page Punchers figure is actually one of my all-time favorite DC Multiverse figures. I feel like all of McFarlane's strengths show through on that figure with the weaknesses and compromises being very minimal, if only because the character design is very forgiving for them. A lot of their figures are so compromised to the point that it feels like there was no love put into them, and while I don't know there was necessarily MORE love put into the Page Punchers figure, it came out to be something that I really like.
Mattel made surprisingly nice Manta for the first movie in their dc multiverse line! Not amazing articulation but it looked pretty cool. It is also 6 inch scale of course.
@@chadremington4653 That Black Manta was better than usual for them, but their DC Multiverse figures always felt like a bad imitation of Marvel Legends to me (which aren't great to begin with). Very plasticky, ugly joints, weird boxy proportions. Just generally unappealing to me.
@@chadremington4653 It definitely varied by figure. Their DC Superheroes line had a lot of gems. Their Clayface with the rubber arms is still my favorite Clayface figure.

id say page puncher looks more like Young Justice suit
@@2toottoot it kinda does now that you say it! (haven't seen enough of Young Justice)
@ryderwilliams5691 your missing out on the best Team ups and story it gets deep
I like the movie version in every way except for the page punchers blades on its arms aRe cool.
the page punchers version looks really cool id like to get it :3
Hope you can find one!

It's a great one to start a collection with!
Black manta from The new movie is definitely top 3 most comic accurate suits of any live action, comic book movie…
The reason why I like the Movie Black Manta, is because it represents to me perfectly as the Injustice 2 Black Manta for My Injustice Display😎😁👍
Awesome video, I prefer the armor look, compared to a skin-tight suit. Gives him a bit of a chance against aquaman
Makes sense. Especially in the deep sea

I only got the page punchers black manta from that wave but have the movie version too. I like the page punchers design more.
Manta and Aqualad were the only ones I wanted
Im hoping we can see a head swap between these 2 figures. If the pegs don’t match im still curious to what ot looks like with the heads just floating on
Sorry, the heads are connected to the bodies by the hoses, which I would have to cut to swap them.
@@5POAFigureReviews oh I can’t believe I didn’t realize that, good thing photo shop exists
Picked up the movie Black Manta on clearance for 10 bucks. Looks more like the classic comic version to me
Great deal! Happy for you
Aquaman’s next most notable villain besides Manta and Ocean Master is probably King Shark, who McFarlane hasn’t made a comic version of yet
Ah, yes I forgot to include the Suicide Squad King Shark. I always forget I have him lol

Seeing aquaman tn😊

Merry Christmas to you too Pete!
I got both of these, and i used Page punchers as a base for an ultron prime custom
That's a really cool idea!
Great review
I'll buy the first one to be on sale, both look cool
Probably the movie. Page Punchers has already been out a while
