    Lovely gifts from your secret Santa and employer. The Disney World holiday sounds wonderful. I live about an hour and 45 minutes north of there. You will love the surprise gift Adam received. Happy days 20 & 21, Ruan.

    You are certainly very lucky to work for that business as they really spoilt you. So glad you had such a lovely time. I do exactly what you do with the cutting and folding on the pattern. You are so productive with every minute you have. 😊

    Making my last minute shopping list while watching this. 3 days left!!! Aaaahhhhhhhh!!! I was wrapping presents last night and realised I was short a few bits and bobs. Like all the ingredients for Christmas dinner and presents for the cats. Plus wine. I need wine right now! Not stressed at all!! Merry Christmas!!!!!!!

    Ruan both those tops look really good with your hair and skin tone. When I worked my 3rd job it was a family owned business and I liked working there. They treated us well. They sold the business and retired
    I cut my patterns like that too. I am glad to see someone else doing it too.

    Great vlog as always. Wonderful gifts all around. Serious green eye for Betty’s gifts - always make a bee line for their places when “up North”. As for hotel rooms- I am convinced they are all designed by men 😮. Had to travel a lot with one of my jobs and some of the rooms drove me bonkers. Saving for Disney will be so worth it- such a fabulous experience. I fell in love with Florida and long after Disney days would holiday on the Gulf Coast - such beautiful memories. Enjoy your precious family time. 😊 Lynne

    See...look what a difference color makes on you Ruan. That pink and red sweater accentuates your gorgeous self. LOL...I made an Ilford jacket in an orange and brown corduroy just because I didn't want to waste the fabric. Wore it on a very special trip to Italy and Greece with my daughter. She convinced me to just buy the fabric in colors that suit me, special soul that she is, and so that's what I decided to do going forward. Quit the BTPD subscription box FOMO and all. I'm sure I will still try to use up all my fabric though. Complicated ? 🤣. xx Karen

    Wow! What a fun packed video! Great party & presents definitely a blessing to have an employer that takes good care of you. Beautiful top you got. Happy savings for the vacation to Disney World here in the states. I went about 40:years ago with my Grandpa, but we never made it there with our kids. Thank you for sharing the tip about the washi tape. I use scotch wall safe tape to initially place them then use the regular to finish up all the edges. Enjoy the family time!

    What I do when one pattern piece includes two necklines- I use tracing paper and a rolling wheel to mark the “inner” neckline. Then roll pattern back and cut it out!

    I love the background music you've put to your vlogmas videos! I'm airways boogying when you play it. 😂
    I'm in the US, and have mostly commercial patterns. I have always done that little cutting trick you showed. I never even thought to trace patterns until discovering the online sewing community and indie pattern companies. I have honestly felt a bit lazy doing the cut and fold thing, but you've just vindicated me! 😅

    Regardging that belt buckle, you could make a bag with a thick strip of fabric attacheced over the front sewn into the seams with the buckle slid on and positioned in the middle like a sort of bow if you get me

  • @lynnephelps2370
    @lynnephelps2370 12 днів тому +2

    You could also use the buckle to knot up a big shirt! Lovely gifts!

    in the 80's we used buckles like that on t shirts by taking the hem and making a tail to slip it through to cinch it in.

    I cut the curve on those necklines to a point where it straightens out and then fold it back, then you can use a bit of washi to keep it in place for cutting the back out the next time you use it ☺️ it’s a little bit less folding and flipping about 😁

    I worked for some general surgeons for 16 years. When I first started working for them they were so generous. They paid us full benefits for working 3 days per week. We had a generous medical plan and vacation benefits. Every Christmas they would give us 2 weeks pay as a bonus. Then they were bought out by the local hospital and everything changed. All of those benefits went away. Even our Christmas party was taken away. Sad because they could have continued on with some of them on their own. I enjoyed my job but we all were doing the work of at least 2 people each. The straw that broke the camels back is when they gave the office managers job to one of our co-workers. She had always said that she’d never do that but she did. And then they never announced her new job to us. We found out by accident when one of the doctors introduced her to a patient as the new office manager. Her power went to her head! She got away with a lot of things that she shouldn’t have. We went to the doctors and complained but it did no good. I finally quit when we were told we’d need to start wearing certain colors -black and royal blue. How depressing! I’m so happy now. I was even asked by one of the surgeons if I was quitting because of this girl and I said yes!
