    The soundtrack of Xenoblade Chronicles X is done by Hiroyuki Sawano, who is mostly known for doing soundtracks for anime/TV shows like Attack On Titan, Thunderbolt Fantasy, and most fittingly with X's giant robots; Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, Narrative and Hathaway.
    He is also my favorite composer of all time, so you bet I was hyped as HELL when it was announced he was doing the soundtrack to Xenoblade Chronicles X. This game was the sole reason I got the WiiU, actually. 😅

    Xenoblade X has a lot more of a high-tech electronic sound than the other Xenoblades. The game takes place in the year 2054 after humanity abandons Earth, they land on a planet named Mira, and... a lot goes wrong. The music for X is, dare I say, more "epic" than the other Xenoblades, due to the game's extreme focus of open-world-ness on planet Mira. Regardless, all music in this series is awesome, glad you like it as much as others and I do!!

  • @TheHubernator

    honestly, Hiroyuki's music is super recognizable; punchy, energy-fueled, stylish.
    You listen to a couple of his compositions for games/anime and you'll start to recognize his work all over the place. I dont know how many copyright-protected songs he's made but i wouldnt be surprised if it's like in the high hundreds (maybe would raise an eyebrow if >1000, but wouldn't be that surprised). And YET, each song feels distinct and new. I never get bored of his music

I love Sawano's vocal tracks and insert songs. i find it really funny that "Melancholia" is just for a menu you spend 30 seconds in, it's not even from the game and he just pulled it from his archives because he has too many bangers I guess. So now the game has the most boppin menu music ever.

    The game’s soundtrack sold me on getting the game in 2015. First ever Xenoblade game I played, and now hooked on the series! There are so many good terrain themes (Oblivia & Sylvalum night). Uncontrollable and Theme X are my favorites!

  • @thenonexistinghero
    @thenonexistinghero 2 роки тому +19

    The soundtrack for XCX wasn't just done by a different composer, but the type of soundtrack that the other 2 Xenoblade games have wouldn't work for this game either. This is all about discovering a giant planet filled to the brim with danger. It's quite a different game, but it's one of the best open world games out there. Other Xenoblade games have huge areas and are often called open world... but they actually aren't. This one allows you to go anywhere in the world after you get past the beginning chapters and the size of the world is actually bigger than Xenoblade Chronicles, Xenoblade 2 and their expansions (Future Connected for XC1 and Torna from XC2) combined.
    It's incredible a Wii U ran this game and the fps is actually a pretty good mostly 30 fps (XC1 and 2 do suffer regular fps drops). I hope to see it get ported to the Switch or get a sequel.

      Depends on your taste, I guess. I love the XCX soundtrack, but there's quite a few composers I would personally put above him. But he does have a very unique sound and he's no doubt the very best at making grand-sounding songs.

      @@thenonexistinghero I would say for Sawano, he's not really somebody the average person can just sit down and listen to whenever they feel like. His music is tense, drama-filled and as you said, grand. Part of the charm is that it draws the listener into the moment with battle music that won't let you breathe or relax for barely a second, because for the entire duration it's this really intense thing.

  • @TheFrostedfirefly

    One of my FAVOURITE location based tracks for this game is probably the one for Sylvalum. Like all locations in the game, it has a day time version of the song and then a night time version. Listening to Sylvalum day, and then hearing the changes as it transitions to night is one of the most transcending songs I've ever had the pleasure to soak my ears in. I hope someone requests that you listen to that soon.

  • @InsanityReborn
    @InsanityReborn 2 роки тому +16

    Well, obviously we need Black Tar and Wir Fleigen now.
    Among others, sure, Uncontrollable works too. All from XCX. Oblivia Day is another one (the track there is technically [亡KEI却KOKU心] (yes, seriously) but that has both the day and night themes put together.)
    As familiar as I am with XCX's music my memory isn't too sharp on when the fight- or story-specific tunes occur; outside from the maps or more generic battle tunes you hear repeatedly, there's just a lot of music you hear once and then never again. Rather upsetting because the track overall is pretty solid.
    And who doesn't want to pilot a huge-ass mech? (Even if you are, literally, significantly stronger on foot due to stat shenanigans..)

    As others have mentioned, the composer is Hiroyuki Sawano most popular for his anime works. The first time I heard him was in the 2011 anime "Guilty Crown" (holy crap, it's been 10 years) and I was also blown away; the anime wasn't that great but the music was absolutely fantastic. For better or for worse, Sawano has a very unique style. His songs are usually epic or bombastic which generally just means it's a banger but to some who've been exposed to his music for a long time (over 10 years in my case) the music tends to blend together and sound relatively samey. For me personally, if I see Hiroyuki Sawano is composing for something new, I immediately know that the music is going to be good but at this point he just sets the bar that I want to see other composers exceed.

    Xenoblade X is IMO the most underrated out of the three Xenoblade Chronicles games. I think it's the 2nd best one after the 1st. The gist of it is basically two alien factions choose space near Earth as a battleground, so Earth gets caught in the middle. Humanity, in order to escape the destruction of Earth in the war between these two alien races, construct gigantic spaceships that contain replicas of entire cities to escape the planet. One of these ships, carrying "New Los Angeles" finds its way to a habitable planet, but they're pursued by and shot down by one of the alien factions, forcing them to crash land. A special part of the ship called the "Lifehold" separates from the rest of it as it breaks apart upon entry. While some of the humans are awake and around to get things up and running, the Lifehold core contains the majority of humans in cryogenic sleep; and it's slowly losing power. So it's a race against time to explore, survey and brave the alien dangers of the planet to find the lifehold and secure the future of the human race.
    Because of the scope and technology in the game the music feels real different. More electronic, but also a bit more epic to fit you sprinting across the vast plains and otherworldly landscapes, running past gigantic lifeforms or even driving and sprinting or flying around in your mechs, and even more epic tracks when you get into battle with certain monsters.

    Xenoblade X is a sorta spinoff. It has a very different style and feel to the main series, but similar gameplay. Where as Xenoblade 1 and 2 take place in fantasy worlds, X takes place in a fictional real world future. X's music has a lot of electronic sounds mixed with very heavy orchestra and epic choirs (And occasionally rap of all things…). The soundtrack was composed by the same guy who makes the music for the anime Attack on Titan, and shares a lot of elements with AOT's music.

    Hiroyuki Sawano has a distinctly relentless style to it. His music has this constant drive, mainly carried by aggressive percussion and droning sweeps of trumpets.
    And for Xenoblade X, it was an excellent fit. You are one of just a small number of survivors, crashed on an unknown planet full of hostiles, with a strong military presence, and aconstant struggle to make it to the next day.
    Where Xenoblade 1 & 2 have a strong sense of fantasy and wonder (and animé), Xenoblade X is more about sci-fi themes, tension, and discovery.

    Xenoblade X is the middle sibling to Xenoblade Chronicles (Definitive Edition) & Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Released on the WiiU it went for a very open world game and musically wise there was a lot more of an electronic influence, plus some rap here and there. A lotta of the songs have vocals, and while the lyrics make no sense I love the songs all the same (even the Night theme for New L.A)

    Man... Sawano is great. Wish I could sugest "Mobile Armor" or "Gundam Unicorn", very similar feels to this too, but alas it's only anime and I don't think it was in any Super Robot Wars game...

    Nah, this one is just generic Hiroyuki Sawano. All of his favorite cliches and techniques are here, literally all of them. If you heard this specific track - you heard many of his OSTs at once. Even more into the area of his older works, with less interesting finds and tricks he likes to use nowadays. He did improve slightly over the years, though.
    Not telling that XCX doesn't have any things with some unique taste to them. You probably got the worse part of the soundtrack here, there are more interesting ones. Say, Black Tar or Uncontrollable.

      This would only apply if you're already used to hearing Sawano's music. If you're not familiar with his work, this song has a very unique sound to it and it's just epic. There isn't another composer I know of that has the same style. Of course, if you are used to his music, there are definitely better songs in Xenoblade X's soundtrack, but this isn't a bad song to start with by any means.

    Xenoblade X's OST is weird, i would say that it is the most extreme of the xenoblade games so far, having both the worst and best music in the series, while 1 and 2 are more stable but don't reach as far up or down in terms of quality, at least imo
