After enjoying a lovely stay at Hueston Woods Lodge, I made a goal to visit each of the nine Great Ohio Lodges within the next few years. Hocking Hills Lodge will probably be my next visit.

You had me at 2:40 when I saw the guy wheeling a keg of beer across the main floor.😂

Book for the weekend after a cold hard winter freeze. The frozen waterfalls look amazing, well worth the bruises and sprained knee I got from a couple of falls on ice.

No it's actually not helpful from someone who's from Ohio and who lives in the area. The only thing worth seeing is Old Man's cave unless you literally haven't seen the countryside in a very long time Hocking hills isn't worth seeing it's a tourist trap spend your hard earning money somewhere else

Very disappointed in this video that they didn’t show a bit more of the grounds and the new pools. As someone who used to spend their early teen years swimming in the huge outdoor pool in the old lodge I have very fond memories of that pool, and also the game room on the lower level.
I was also interested if they created some sort of safety device around the parking lot because I remember one day when we arrived the squads were on their way due to some college age guys playing football in the parking lot and one of them leaping over the short foot wall at the edge of the driveway not realizing that it was about a 20 foot drop to the ground. Hopefully that guy never had any life altering injuries due to that fall.
I’m also not sure how you could say the old lodge it was basically a dining only lodge when I’m pretty positive there were some rooms to rent. I might be mistaken about that though. I do remember I saw kids in swimsuits running throughout the lodge so I’m pretty sure they were staying there. It’s completely ok to praise the new lodge without disparaging the old one. I have not had a chance to visit the new one yet, and I will someday, but I do have lots of love for the old one.

What a palace. Personally would have rather they spent less on that and a bit more on a few shower houses at the various campgrounds.

I’ve lived a few miles away from the lodge since 2008 (same site). I can confidently say that the old lodge was better, more beautiful, but definitely not as functional. Whispering Hills trail is new to the area, but because of the overwhelming foot traffic, we have never hiked it. In fact by the time this lodge was built the Hocking Hills area was already over-exposed to tourism. The trails are wide now, opened wide for glam-camper types, not normal hikers. The parks, roadsides, etc, are littered with trash from tourists. The traffic on the roads here is insane, as well as all the drug traffic tourism brings here. If you’re like these other commenters, city folks, or indoor enthusiasts, these hills will seem amazing! But if you’re wanting to get away from the world, & get outdoors, I would avoid the Hocking Hills, & other over-exposed areas like Gatlinburg TN, or Niagara Falls NY, etc.

Fully 100% agree! You have to have a room and reservations to eat there now. The is moreless a resort now. We're 25 minutes ,and the hills are busy in the winter now. It wasn't like that in the early 2000s

Go to the other side of 33 to the Shawnee area. We have been building new trails the last few years. Plan is for 100 miles of trail from Burr Oak to Shawnee area.

I kinda disagree ,but I don't know why people from all different states to flock there to see the Hocking Hills. We would go there if we was bored , not a big family week vacation. Only 25 minutes drive for us.
