I just took delivery of mine yesterday. Cant say enough how mighty this thing is. Turbo’d diesel with synchronized tranny and a powerful loader makes this the ultimate machine fir a small farm.
Our M5660SUHD was delivered last week and so far its been terrific - 62 acres some pastures being cleaned up and cleared with lots of tress and brush. Very glad did not go with smaller tractor and glad did not go with a cab for our application. Felt big when buying but after couple hours on the tractor it feels just the right size. Had ballast added and moved the back tires to max wide. 4 wheel drive is a total must have.
On shifting your gears while moving…. With the shuttle, i find it much easier to slip it into neutral then shift then shuttle it back into forward. No clutching necessary. And very smooth Is there a problem with this?
Just picked up a M5660 and wondered what the black, metal, looped handle is under the shuttle shifter. At first I thought it was to tilt the steering wheel but as I try to manipulate the handle it doesn't go anywhere. Checked the manual and it doesn't have it highlighted in bold nor is it listed in the numbered items. Very curious.
Deal Neil, is there a sub-frames for this tractor to mount a backhoe ? (Since L4701 can put on a BH92 on a subframe, then this M5660 should also be able to put a BH92 -- but is there a subframe for it? I hope you could shed some light because (as I am in Europe) the dealers here say the M-series needs no subframe.
It's easy, and cheap, to cut out some stall mats. On an open station tractor, covering the steel floor with mats creates another area where dirt and moisture can hide out, though. Also, fairly big engined, manual transmission tractors, tend not to be persistently, constantly and annoyingly noisy the way hydros often are.
I saw you other video about JD half truths and got me thinking about Kubota. For comparison purposes, is the M5660 more or less the same as the JD 5055E? Local JD dealers have it for $26K with front loader and hay spear. What's the the price on one these new with same attachments?
This is coming in with just the loader and a bare bones bucket on the web app. But from what I've seen of the Deere it's Built no where near as heavy and probably ships with even less. I don't see anyone putting out a true full size utility tractor at $26 grand.
But I just got off the JD web app $23 is the list for a base 2wd without loader price, they require the MFWd for a loader $5500 right there, they want two grand for the 4wd tires I think 6 for the loader itself. Odds are it'd cost you fifty thousand to buy a Mahindra that's been sprayed Green. Just for a name that doesn't even carry. You're either naieve a fanboi or a paid shill. Sixty horse domestic tractor w a loader for 23k GTFOH!
Awesome review! Quick questions if i want to brake do i simply put it in neutral and brake it or do i step on the clutch to make it brake instantly? Does 4 wheel drive help increase braking with the pedal? New to tractors and don't want to mess anything up. Thanks!
So i got a Kubota M4060. It seems to be pretty similiar to this one in Transmassion so. U can brake by pressing the clutch and the break pedal oder just put it in Neutral and press the break pedal. Just break pedal will stall the engine at some time. U can turn on AllWheel drive but it normally should do it automatic when pressing the break pedal. However can't say it for sure since i got the EU/German modell. (And it doesn't work on our tractor all the time)
if you was to buy this with the backhoe what is the model number of the backhoe? is it the BH92? all it says on the build web site is, is its a 9ft backhoe
In your walk around you say the 3 pt is cat. II but in the online specs it says cat I & II. Can the tractor also be set up to run cat I attachments or what is needed?
Mark Vink I do believe you take the draft arms, and because they’re offset that changes the spread width from cat 2 to 1. Then you just put bushings over the implement pins.
I know you guys have done the Kubota L-2501 in a video with other tractors as well. We are thinking of buying a 2501, any chance you could do a video JUST about the 2501 and go into more detail about than previously? Many thanks!
Messick Farm Equipment Hello, sorry to bother you, but is the Kubota brand anything like the LS line of tractors? They seem so similar, yet different. Can you please elaborate on this? Thank you:)
when I look at the Kubota website it says that the front grill guard is not compatible with the front end loader. My current Kubota has both and I was wondering if it is still an option to have both.
while i agree that this trans is way better semi's have had unsyncronized gears forever if you cant shift an unsycronized transmission then your not probably shifting one that is. should be smooth no matter which one you have and need a lesson in shifting haha
The mass and momentum of a semi, and the smoother roads it's normally on, keeps speeds steady and predictable during the shifting process. Tractors bumping across fields and in the woods, often at crazy grades, don't. Making precise rematching much trickier on the latter.
Not sure what you are referring to, but to keep exhaust temps up on diesels, you don't want high revs, but rather high load. Run a gear which loads the engine to where you can dip into the throttle a bit, so the engine is working a bit for each powerstroke, making good torque. Not revs so low that you start sooting and/or lugging, but also not so high that all you do is pump lots of unnecessary cool air through the cylinders.
I like the look: Big wheels, very little plastic (by today's standards) covering up the mechanicals. That "box" referred to in the video, attempting to shield the hydraulic connections, is a bit of an eyesore, though... I realize the "plastics" make for more comfortable interfaces. Don't mean to disparage them. But I still like the look of metal levers visible all the way to where they attach to what they control.

Awesome job! I’m tractor shopping right now, and all of your videos are a tremendous help!
Thank you for actually driving it around! We've got a Deere 5320 with the synchronized 9x3, but I had wondered how the F-R shuttle worked.
SUPER review! Simplicity is beautiful.
That looks like a great tractor for it's size, and it is looking like it is very powerful.
Wish more manufacturers of anything with wheels or tracks would take this approach on their "economy" machines.
Might be a good tractor to start work for part-time custom hay services in the valley.
Which tire size package is on this tractor, love the look of the wide aggressive tire's
Once again, huge thumbs up for being honest in your reviews.
If you ever get a Kioti tractor in I would love to see a comparison..any model. Thanks.
Still can't decide if I want an mx5800 hst or the m5660 suhd
Wow! Very concise and informative review!
What is the max weight the loader can lift with forks.
On shifting your gears while moving….

is there to keep the shifter from being wacked by a tree limb.
@@MessicksEquip 😂 No wonder I couldn't manipulate it.
Mine is 23 yrs old and we USE it every day. The light weight tractor allows a light weight trailer Easier on the truck
Would this be good size for pulling a 8ft Creekview windrower for poultry houses?
Great review!

Correct. No subframe needed for m series
What size tractor would you guys recommend for food plots, tree dragging, finish mowing, and snow removal?
On how many acres?
Woods and open areas 50+ acres
@@Bassinwithjesse 40-50hp
Neil, can you put rubber floor mats on the MX4800?
+trey smith yea. Off another model.
If it's too expensive rhino line it.
When I google 5055e pro hp is says 45 advertised and 49.5 tested...
Its changed in more recent model years
Is there a floor mat from another model that will work on the M5660?

What's the base weight of a MX4800 with loader, Ag tires and a rear hydraulic hookup?
Did you mean ERGOnomic because I thought I heard you say AGROmomic?
I saw you other video about JD half truths and got me thinking about Kubota. For comparison purposes, is the M5660 more or less the same as the JD 5055E? Local JD dealers have it for $26K with front loader and hay spear. What's the the price on one these new with same attachments?

Oh I did pick the MFWD 4 wheel drive version also so it's probably possible to get the bota down to about $34,* and still get a few options.

Kubota M 5660 . Is there different tire size options available for front and rear? Does this tractor have tilt steering wheel?
+Thomas No.1 many, many tire options. Does not have a tilt wheel(I think)
What size front tires are on that machine?
They seem larger than my M7060
+jmwilson614 not sure, but there are wider tire options now than there was then.

It's M4509 if you go to options on the kubota build page

Messick Farm Equipment Yeah and the super loud and obnoxious smelling exhaust!
+Bob Stubs not sure I've noticed that???
Messick Farm Equipment I owned one. Traded it for a l3301.
very nice
They could have also put a $50 mat on the floor area.
..... just to make sure no moisture ever evaporated from the steel floor until it was thoroughly rusted through...... :)
Do you like to work at Messick's Neil?
Its a great fit for me.
How about a comparison between the L6060 and the M6060??
There isn’t a comparison... totally different animals.
Do you know how much a tractor like this would run with a backhoe?
Sorry, I meant the price
contact a dealer. We shy away from pricing in this stuff because there are so many variables.
Do you guys plan on comparing the Kubota and Kioti ?
Not likely. We never really see them around here.
Messick Farm Equipment Hello, sorry to bother you, but is the Kubota brand anything like the LS line of tractors? They seem so similar, yet different. Can you please elaborate on this? Thank you:)
+Curtis Kinoo about as similar as a Kia and a Toyota. Lots of differences.
Messick Farm Equipment Cool beans...
Messick Farm Equipment such as?
when I look at the Kubota website it says that the front grill guard is not compatible with the front end loader. My current Kubota has both and I was wondering if it is still an option to have both.
+Ben H there is large guard that accepts front weights that does not work with the loader.
Ok Thanks

could you compare this with a fendt?
+s n491 they don't make stuff this small
Oh yeah just rev your engine up red line constantly it's fine it will blow it up in about half the lifespan it normally would be

I just spoke for a new one. I hope it last me a life time. Cause I will never buy another new one regardless.
worst service I have yet experience by a sales person.
Something I can help with?
That's the ugliest tractor I ever saw. Good thing it doesnt live on its beauty

Why this guy smacks his mouth when he talks very annoying.
