    That use of the miniature pattern was so great! Really made for a better understanding for me! 👍👍

    I love this top and look forward to making it! I am a breast cancer survivor and I'm asymmetrical, so having shirts that deflect the asymmetry is a win for me. Thank you for being such a creative, wonderful teacher! 🎉

      Thanks so much for this comment. I haven’t talked about it on my channel but I’m also a BC survivor. 6 years cancer free! I hope you’re well in the clear now too. Lots of love to you!

      @@CatherineSews Thank you kindly for your reply! I'm sorry you had to experience cancer too and it must've been difficult going for post-care during the pandemic. Congratulations on surviving and crossing over the 5-year milestone 😊! I'm cancer-free for 17 years now. Thank goodness for great advances in treatments. I am truly grateful for your channel and looking forward to seeing how I can upcycle clothing and create new, unique designs with what I have. Someone mentioned doing the drape on this shirt with different color or pattern - I think it's a cool idea as well! Best of health and happiness to you! ❤️

    The miniature pattern that you made is a common first pattern on the Japanese Bunka technique -complex pleating and three dimensional details. It is very good idea.

    Good video Catherine. You did a really nice job of slowing down and explaining everything really well. In fact, I’m hoping to make one of these for myself. I have a long list of things to do first but I will save this video and know that this is something in my future. Thank you.

    I wonder if it would work to use a different fabric in the pleat section (slice the pattern, add seam allowance, sew) and then secure the pleat at the bottom as well so it kind of works as a peekaboo so you see a different fabric inside the pleat? I don't know! Great tutorial. Thank you!

    QUESTION: Is it possible to make the pleat open o arts the hem, not towards the neckline?

    • @CatherineSews
      @CatherineSews  Рік тому +2

      Yes, you can make the pleat start anywhere on the perimeter! Have fun trying it in paper first 🤪

    😮wow. You make pattern making look and sound so simple. I have tried and really been interested in trying to make my own patterns, your instruction and speed has been the best. Thank you so much 😊 (todays lunch: Turkey, cheese lettuce wrap. ) I also love the idea of using wrapping paper for pattern. Dollar Tree sells wide paper rolls for 1.25. Thank you. How many threads on your Seeger. I only have a three thread and thought I can’t only serge seems closed without doing a straight single stitch? What do you think?

    I'm just wondering if you've had your colors done, are you a warm or a neutral ( possibly muted or dusty cool or warm )colored person? I have cool bright coloring myself. Different people look good in different colors and it's easy on the eyes to see people wearing what looks good on them. The design on that new t, I like it 😃

    You went a little long on the shirt you only had to go midway.. If you take a look at you white shirt it is was different from what you did with the blue shirt it doesn't need to go down that far. Maybe I little less on them off the the blue shirt for it to look like the white.
