With Huawei's recent blacklisting / ban from the US, they have decided to go all out to get their operating system HongMeng OS, Oak OS or Ark OS (many names at this point!) ready for the launch of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, the flagship which should drop around October! Not really lol either way Huawei isn't going to be sold in the US regardless their competition is going too stay in China and that's crippling enough along with the rest of the world believing Huawei is a security risk. They also didn't just lose an os they lost years and years worth of things they will need lots of time to replace with their own infrastructure. Either way us isn't going to be bothered much by it because 70 percent of the world thinks Huawei is a risk. It will on grow in China and that's where it'll stay
Competition is always good for the consumer, let them come out with good features so the other operating systems can compete.

Heather Larson How is Huawei having their own OS game-changing? You didn’t list one specific thing about their OS that you liked or anything else for that matter. All you said was Google sells personal data, you dislike Apple for no particular reason, and that’s about it.
Trump’s Order asking Google to ban Huawei is applicable to the USA only, not to free sovereign countries. Google should not follow Trump’s Order in other countries or they will be infringing in their sovereignty. Latin America, Europe, Africa, Asia should fine Google with billions if they follow Trump’s Order. These countries must pass resolutions that foreign countries should follow the law of the land. Watch out for briberies. The world should not be held hostage to giant Corporations. This is a good opportunity to create another smart phone platform, one that is immune to hostage taking.

One more thing, google never created the android. They bought the compny whro created the android. Google created the play store and google has alot of apps like UA-cam, gmail, maps etc. Google can ban any manufacturer from using their apps. But they cant stop anyone from runing their apps on other android versions.

@Michael Kevin Millet I had several generation of Samsung flagships including tablets. Huawei mid range phones have more updates than Samsung in addition to being stable and snappier all the time where I don't need to reboot my phone even when i have a billion tabs and bringing my phone to it's knees. Battery life on Huawei has always been better as well. And this is on a mid range phone.
Hauwei will succeed because the world is tired of IOS and Android. I would jump at it.

@infobestkaya It's not a complete copy but it's based on the open source Android project, as far as I'm aware, or it includes it somehow, so it can run APKs, so it's not a big problem for developers.
Will definitely buy a cheaper phone using this os just to give it a try once it comes out!

if you buy a cheap phone, you probably can't try it because the cheap phone usually come with lower specs that doesn't run the OS to its maximum potential. I bet you need a phone at the Nova 5 level to test the new OS

It is going to be cheaper because there is no OS lisenseing. Hawuie was paying money to google for the android lisense but with it's own os system the exact same phone will be cheaper running Hawuie OS

I recently bought the Mate 20 Pro and it's by far the best phone I have ever owned. I personally cannot wait for Huawei to release their own operating system.
I'm using Mi5 since 2016, waiting for Mate 30 Pro for a change. I'm quite confident HW's new OS HM won't be a disappointment.

I am 100% supporting Huawei's new OS for political reasons: I just don't want that much America in my every day technology. On another note, iOS / Android's UI design language looks stale as all hell. They've relied on market share monopoly that they've stopped caring.
Google's apps bloatware make device slow. That's why in the test, hongmeng os 60% faster.

You know you can install a CUSTOM ROM. Plus, Google Apps don't take that many ressources, less than Huawei pre-installed bloatware (looking at emui)

Then what you can do with the Huawei OS? It will still comes with pre-install app, and that's what makes a mobile phone useful. If you don't use Google made apps, you can install other app that's smililiar with more customizable

I think HongMeng os is using the same code from AOSP, so developer and manufacturer can develop software for free. It's open source.

If it were, why would they start making it in 2012 without being done by 2012? That would take them few weeks, to tailor an Android. Android is what they do today. It "supports" android apps, does not mean it IS android. The hole purpose with making it was to not be depending on Google. So you make no sense

Android is free. Huawei only had to pay a licence fee for the Google suite of Apps like Gmail, Google Play Store, Maps etc. The prices won't go down because the new OS will cost more to run than Android ever has or will. If anything the prices might increase.

People are underestimate how smart Chinese are. they are the only one can speak multi-language perfectly , there thousands of Chinese engineers all over world. the computer company I worked 35 years ago, the chief Engineer is Chinese from Taiwan, a good man with giant heart who loves and cares for every employee and he is the founder of Kingston Technology.
It will be nice if the HW OS has a kind of adaptor middleware to run Android apps. Don't worry, a neutral market app will replace playstore on HW

If it's true that Ark OS is 60% faster than Android OS, then I suspect Android OS contains routines that are designed to spy the users (that's why they are slower).

I know where you got the 40% number. During a CNBC interview with Ren Zhengfei with Dierdre Bosa, Ren was asked if his phone sales have taken a hit. He says that on the international scene, his company anticipated a 40% initial drop in a worst case scenario, but he quickly added that the actual numbers were not that; the actual numbers indicated a 20% drop and were already recovering with subsiding panic. So the US media took the 40% and just said that Huawei's international phone sales have plummeted 40%.
We need more competition = Innovation = options & a W for consumers.

I work for the US federal government. I am debating on getting the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. But, US government worker are not supposed to have that phone.
