After a period of time doing some assembling stop motion movies this is my first little attempt to honor our beautiful hobby of plastic scale modelling by telling a little story. A story of assembling plastic kits with some sort of "twinkle in the eye". The figure, which magically is coming to life, represents the spirit the modelers bring into their creations that let them feel like their role models. But like in real life friendship and inspiration matters more than following given plans...

Nach einer gewissen Zeit in der ich ausschließlich Stopmotion-Filme auf Basis von Bausatzeinzelteilen erstellt habe, ist das mein erstes Video mit einer kleinen Story in der ich mich "augenzwinkernd" mit dem Thema Modellbau beschäftige. In Form von Charakteranimation lasse ich hier eine Figur magisch lebendig werden, die ein wenig den Geist des Modellbaus repräsentieren soll. So wie es der Modellbauer mit seiner Fähigkeit vermag Plastik leben einzuhauchen, so schafft auch unser Protagonist Leben. Wie im richtigen Leben gibt es auch hier nichts wichtigeres als Freundschaft und Inspiration statt stumpf einem vorgegebenen Plan zu folgen...

Thank you, but it's difficult to count the hours for the entire process. But it took more time than almost any other of my projects. Especially since I went a wrong animation way during the assembling...

You know, I've watched pretty much everything you've ever posted now, and I know you read these comments years later. I think it would be acceptable to have a stand for balance, so you get a proper walk cycle. I'm sure you are more than capable of animating it. You could just plug his back and pretend it's not there. It doesn't take as much from the immersion as that shuffling does. Anyways: I love your stuff, but alas, the algorithm is feeding me the table-scraps. I'll see you when you next upload!
Thanks a lot for your constructive criticism. I know my mannequin's walk cycle is far from being convincing. Every time I decide to work with my little character I think about using a seperat jig construction for his balance. But when I am working with new and complicated models the little guy have to function on it's own. But you're totally right this has to be a thing of the past next time...

Ha, I have two of this artist reference figure along with two female versions. They have a decent posability. Hell, I even have 1/6 scale versions.
