I have always owned a BUNN and where I live now has extremely hard water. I have always descaled with vinegar BUT I have never turned off the machine and let it sit for the required time. I'm doing that now and will leave it at least 2 hours, This is a fairly new Bunn and I plan keeping it working perfectly because... 1) it is important for correct maintenance and 2) I cant go without my morning BUNN coffee!!!!
Vinegar worked well for me as well. I used cleaning vinegar. I poured 10 cups in the first time. After 3/4 of the first cycle it started to help. I wanted to make sure I had a strong dose of vinegar in there so I cycled 10 more cups of fresh vinegar through it immediately again. The second cycle cleaned it to a point that it worked like new. I let it set in the tank for a couple hours as well. Works as well as new now.
I m glad I discovered your channel as my wife and I just ordered this exact machine, Great Videos looking forward to getting ours and following these easy to follow steps, thanx to your videos.
Thanks for the very useful video. This is my first Bunn machine at home and it is by far the best coffee maker I’ve ever had. Coffee taste is phenomenal. Cleaning it for the first time this weekend.
Great video, but I found I could still smell and taste the vinegar after THREE fresh water flushes. So I wound up having to do a total of SIX flushes. Thanks again.
Nice job, "Dad"! I am planning on modifying my Bunn so I can easily tell if the switch is on. The reason for this is because I keep mine on a timer so it heats the water just prior to the morning brew. I make coffee every other morning. I just check the power light and carafe first. I need a brighter indicator light. I would love to disassemble the unit to do this, if you know how. Thanks for your help!
Does the light flash at all indicating it needs to be descaled? Or is it a matter of keeping track of it on a calendar? Thanks, great video, considering purchasing this coffee maker.
Hello! Would you say this coffee maker is manageable for someone with physical disability? I have had 2 coffee makers of the same brand crap out on me in 2 years. Looking for something better, but I probably would be unable to disassemble the machine at all for cleaning, but I CAN descale. Is it necessary to take it apart? Do you need to take the tank off the back at all for cleaning? Any advice appreciated. Thank you so much!
@@JustADad thank you so Much! That was one of the reasons I didn’t like my Keurig. Too many parts to remove for cleaning, needles to clean etc and the water tank was big Easy for me to get on and off. Can I brew one pot at a time with this machine, or do I need to have it full at all times for the heating?
So after all is said and done with cleaning do you set it back up as you would when you first got it? Like adding all the water as directed when you start new?

Can you use apple cider vinegar to clean the coffee maker?
Thank you for your tips!
You are so welcome!
How many times do you need flush after this process to get rid of vinegar taste?
Thank you.
How often would you descale?
if you use it everyday then I would every 3 months
