lol I loved both Never Let Me Go AND My Year of Rest and Relaxation, but I can totally see where people would say they were kind of snooze worthy! They read kind of like plain pasta tastes: bland in a good way😂😂😂
I’m so glad you read Never Let Me Go. I started it and immediately DNF’d and was feeling like I was missing something. No I was not. It is so many people’s favorite book. I don’t understand. But one’s person’s DNF is another person’s five-star. Go figure.
The way I’m so invested in what books people choose and who they are 👀 and as someone who is Demi with an Ace friend, I REALLY want to see more ace rep as a whole in the bookish space ♥️it makes my heart happy whenever I see it
Hahaha episode 2 drops in a few hours! And naturally i completely agree with you! i would love to see more ACE rep especially because it is so misunderstood and often over simplified 😌💜🩶
Hey, Nel! This is my first visit to your channel. 🎉 I believe you are the Nel that Koda speaks of drinking wine on Wednesdays. 🤔 I discovered on Danni’s Battle of the Booktubers Announcement video that you were in this battle, so checking out how you’re doing in this fun bookish competition. So glad at least one of your books ended up being a 5-star read, and you felt a connection with it. 😊
@@NelDiamond Yes, ma’am! I’m sprinting before you’re winding down with your wine 🍷. 😂 I’ll have to hop on over one of these Wednesday evenings. I finally put two and two together that you sprint with Courtney sometimes. And, I agree with you about Koda. He’s a sweetheart! 🥰
I've read Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro but not this one. It leaned very heavily on the speculation part of speculative sci-fi. Like what if? What would the world be like if suchandsuch was real. But with some emotion. So what are the ethics of a situation but no major plot. Claire Kahn is a fave of mine for the ace rep. I now want to reread the Romantic Agenda. I too wanted more. Especially more of Joy and Fox in their relationship. Otherwise, I loved it. This project seems really interesting so I'm looking forward to what else you wind up reading.
that description def applies to Never Let Me Go as well. I guess that is Kazuo Ishiguro's niche. and YES Fox was very understanding, respectful and open to Joy's asexuality but I think being open to the idea of something and actually handling it are two different things. I would love to see how they navigate the day-to-day dynamics of an ACE/Allo relationship 💜
Never Let Me Go is such a Meh book - The film adaptation grips you more and I think that is primarily due to the casting. Keira Knightly, Carey Mulligan, and Andrew Garfield (Amazing!). The movie had me way more emotionally invested. One scene in particular is always a gut punch when I watch it. Curious to know what you think of the film.
Oh look! I’m sprinting with you lol
I love that you found a book that you identified with. It is always amazing to see yourself on the page!
I love it when you're reading a book that feels like it was written for you!
💜💜💜

Yes! I think those books are better suited for people who like slice-of-life stories... which is not me lmao😂

Love that u found a book u related to ❤
When you wish like a book was longer or had more is so good!!!!
Yes this could def have been longer and I would not have been mad haha or a sequel 💜
I've had the romantic agenda on my list as well! Glad you had such a fun time with at least one of the books lol
Yeah things definitely turned around for the better, my first 5⭐ of the year!

I don’t have a lot of romances on my tbr but the romantic agenda is one of them for the ace rep so I’m glad to hear your review
Yes! It was highly anticipated and did not disappoint 🥰
