If you build wheels or true a lot of wheels then buy this tool. It is fantastic and makes the job faster and more accurate. It is worth the cost to have in your tool box.

I have a specialized spoke holder that is awesome, but was very expensive. But it was the only tool that allowed me to rebuild an old mavic wheel with seezed nipples. This seems like it would work just as well, but would be much cheaper. Park continues to put out new useful tools nobody else is doing.

can it be used as a break cable puller too?

Technically it could be used to hold onto a cable during installation, but you'd be just as well-off with a simple pliers, or preferably a fourth hand tool such as the Park Tool BT-2.

Wow awesome tool! Been looking for something like, straight pull spokes can be a nightmare to work with and pliers just end up scratching up your spokes. Great idea.

Is there a reason why you couldn't make do with a cable puller like the BT-2? Not putting down a great product, just curious how it's different.

The Unior tool is basically the same mechanism as a brake pulled. You could probably use it but it would be slow and clumsy. The Park spoke holder is a smarter design. It has that sliding floating plate that gets pushed up so the spoke is held Evenly between two parallel jaws. No small spot with isolated pressure like you’d get from the Unior or using a brake cable tool.

Was going to get the Unior one, but the truncated last letter of that company REaLlY BuGs mE.

The Unior doesn’t have the sliding plate that the park has either. Seems it wouldn’t grab as evenly across the surface like the park. I like parks design more.
