It's funny when you travel the world you realize how ridiculous the tipping culture is in the US. If given the option of tipped wage vs $20/hr, waiters will pick tipped wage any day while in other countries $20/hr for a waiter is very good. In Japan they get paid $10-12/hr with no tips while giving exceptional service. Also California raised the minimum wage to $16/hr but they still get tipped the same as before. Make that make sense.
Hi Sharon, this was a very fun and interesting video. I do have a question, the living cost of the retired gentleman isn't typical is it? I'm thinking of moving to Taiwan and his monthly rental budget alone is probably already twice my total Taiwan budget.
