Pyongyang Street, North Korea

- I was driving in 13 January 2016 and saw a "yellow van" headed to Diplomatic Compound in Munsudong District. The other interesting thing is I saw many Pyongyang citizens walking down the streets, which I knew later that they were prepared to welcome the scientists , servicemen, workers and officers of North Korea cruised throughout the city inside several brown buses that also recorded in this video. People were gathered at the streets hours ahead of time in the cold weather.

To the people saying it's fake, where exactly do you think he is?
it just seams so surreal to see so many people walking and the lack of cars. its like the west 70 years ago!
seems*
with what oil they will run them , north korea is banned from importing oil dummy
You cant drive in high speed in NK because of slow rendering.
you didn't give way to pedestrians
I guess if nothing else, with so little traffic Pyongyang must have the cleanest air of any capital city.
No, they have a power plant right in the centre of the city.
wtf? they walk normaly on the street without pushing each other or watching on their smartphones? this cant be in our world.
Christian Schmidt I don't think they have phones there
there's no need to use "AM/PM" on a 24hr clock
Everyone seems to be walking, but going nowhere. Very interesting.
+RikkyCZ : I'm shocked that no one got hit by the car in the video! Looked like some very close calls.
+steven Ryan What does that even mean.. They're walking to a destination.
+jordan lukach : For one thing, you NEVER see anyone entering or exiting a building.
So are you implying that these people are all putting on a show? For themselves? The dash cam in the car?
Not at all. I was just making an observation, nothing more.
2:23 propaganda music truck
Why do you press horn every zebras? You don't have brakes on your car?
KriszMc he is just a crazy driver he is crazy at driving
Crazy driver...please stop line and wating until pedestrians crossing....
0:13 WHAT THE HELL THERES DHL IN NORTH KOREA?!!!!
No matter where you go, there will always be a DHL van
may be it a OLD lorry
I literally thought the same thing! xD
It was just imported for personal use and to transport workers. Nothing DHL in it just the logo
Maybe you should let pedestrians cross the road? Especially at pedestrian crossings.
Not really, in both North and South Korea the bigger object has right of way, it's not considered rude, if you are walking on the street you will be aware of cars and actively avoiding them letting them have right of way, whereas if you transition to a driver you will assume right of way. It works and it avoids confusion of who should go first?
+ndog37 Agree to disagree.
I know!
he'd get shot at where I'm from!
+ndog37 If that is according to the rules of the road in those countries, I'm happy.
Why you dont give priority to pedestrians?
what you thinking? is north korean even developed country?
I'm Russian.Looks like Russian city 🤔😄 looks like all Russian cities.
Except Moscow
Родные хрущевки😂😂
Commies bro...
В СССР...
@@azunkor422
And St Petersburg
Did you know that at pedestrian crossing you are the one who is supposed to stop?
Wow....Same Russia 1970-1980
Yep that's right bro
Same as any ex communist country
omg/ JUST REALIZED HOW IT LOOKS LIKE SAME IN RUSSIA
I know right. It's crazy
Thank you for presenting this remarkable video to us. I really wish to know more N Korea. especially through driving!
There is DHL in North Korea
Why don't you stop to let pedestrians cross the walkway?
+Zhivko Yabandzhiev Oh Gosh!
hey! There were pedestrian cross the street, why didnt you gave them priority??
nmarius75 He's indonesian...
no, he's a moron.
why do u never reply to any questions?
Dear Jaka, Thank you very much for your videos. I wish you and your family happiness...
I am kinda shocked at the road quality
There is NO traffick. So that's why road's are good.
Roads don't only wear up from cars driving over them. North Korea gets heavy rains and it's sub 0°C in the winter. The roads need maintenance or else they'll crack and get bumps.
There are no traffic rules here?
idk
What is the point of cross walk in North Korea if you constantly have the right of way?
Absolutely brilliant. Excellent footage thanks a lot.
thank you
what is the speed limit there in the city? seem like moving very slowly, zombie walking and driving
i was watching videos of Dubai and ended up in Pyongyang.
Why do you keep driving over pedestrian crosswalks?
No traffic signs, almost no traffic laws... Why are you buddy honking the pedestrians at the crosswalks shouldn't you give way to them?)
I thought this at first but then figured we live in a society where cars are normal and we instantly check for them. It might not be the same over there and he’s just warning them he’s there. Either way it’s sad.
In North Korea, cars have the right of way at crosswalks and not pedestrians, unlike at least most other countries.
una camoneta DHL 00:12
Such a beautiful city, I remember those streets since I visited the DPRK last august! Thank you for the video!
hi Mr. Parker - what happened to the trees on Tongdaewon St.? They looked like they all snapped in half by a storm or maybe diseased and cut off? Thank you.
Better than Detroit .
If north Koreans ever visit India and experience the streets full of indisciplined pedestrians, vehicles they will get heart attack.
But we have civil rights to blame the Government which North Koreans doesn't.
😂😂😂 north korean streets are so clean... And looks much much better than even big cities of India ❤❤
I've watched a million NK videos and not once have I ever seen a gas/petrol station.
5:25 that's a lot o people, are they on their way to work or school, or where are they going?
Wherever they go that's none of anyone's business
They have flowers with them so mosy likely making an offering to their oppressor
No car stops at crosswalks omg :))
It's so clean and beautiful!
it is!
it may actually be one of the cleanest cities in the world but I could be wrong.
I love that they have zebra crossings but they simply mean nothing to the car drivers
Можно сказать, что правил дорожого движения нет... А их нет потому, что практически нет машин...
Ну да, а почему ж ещё?
Ведь вряд ли потому, что у них тоталитарно-диктаторский режим?
Да неее, бред какой-то.

North Korea cycling country. Forget Netherlands and Denmark.
The scenery isn't all that bad, but I take it that this is the "nicer" side of North Korea. I could only imagine what the people living in the more rural areas must go through in order to survive.
No everywhere Is lovely in North Korea behold the greatest country ever,!
I hate to think what it looks like in the villages and small towns
Bunch of newish western cars lol 1:44 Land Cruiser Prado, 3:20 Lexus LX570 and Mercedes E class, 3:48 VW passat, 5:43 Land Rover Discovery, 7:38 Mercedes 190E, 7:57 VW Jetta...
Range Rover at 5:44
Probably those car is for embassy or diplomats in there
The Chinese and NK do knockoff replicas they could be the ones you see they do a Mercedes e class I believe that pretty spot on
Yeah. Except almost all of them are fake Chinese cars imitating the real ones.
@@vadyakhan no they’re real but there for high elected officials or people that have more money
А в Корее можно не пропускать пешеходов на переходе?
3:20 Lexus!?
yeah politician
you can see a Lexus Cygnet after too
1:55 wow one of the reasons I left my home country, drivers dont give a shit about pedestrians crossing the street
Apparently someone spotted the new Land Rover Defender in Pyongyang, but helpfully didn't take a photo to prove it.
Kim Jong Un's security detail also now use Ford Transit minibuses - and there are photos of those. The hearse/funeral limousine they use is also a 1970s Lincoln Continental probably built in Detroit.
Looks like Moscow in the 70s
❤❤
Better than Indian cities
What are those "groups" of people waling in noon streets..?
These roads are better maintained than Atlanta’s
I wonder how many of those buildings are just... empty.
What makes u wonder that? Why would they be empty?

Drivers should give way to pedestrians..
Why didn't you stop at pedestrian crossing?
ahmed Kutub you are right
How you can drive alone in North Korea?
Do you have footages from the rural area? As a Forest Engineer I'm really curious about that. Thanks.
XDieterX Null
Sadly the Rural areas are forbidden to Foreigners only the Captial City (Pyong Yang) is where foreigners are allowed to be
Thanks! Would be interesting to study how the agricultural live works in Korea DPR.
You can find many images of rural areas on DPRK360 facebook page.
You are a brave man. Be careful man , I wish you all the best!! Thank you for that insight!!
+Galeria Thanks
Thank You For Sharing This Beautiful Video Thank you For Bringing US Along YOUR Adventures
For the ones asking why he honking at pedestrians it’s pretty common for less or undeveloped countries to have poorer driving regulations or laws meaning no using turn signals blowing through stop signs not moving for emergency vicheles
Looks like they could use four-way stop signs since the overhead wire are for the transits.
No yielding to pedestrians...
Aloo why do not you stop on the walkway ???
Fact: Owning a Vehicle in North Korea is like owning a Lamborghini in America....
Well I have seen a lambo recently when I was going to mcdonalds
Most cars in NK are cars from the western world but are rebranded before being sold there.
It's remarkable that vehicles don't have to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks, nor have to stop when turning right on a red light.
It's a clean calm city. Looks more friendly than São Paulo and Rio, even Curitiba
A yellow DHL van at around 11 seconds wtf
This ua-cam.com/video/RuMsDf-z_hs/v-deo.html
DHL do operate in North Korea. Their Pyongyang depot even answers customer telephone and e-mail queries.
❤❤
Why do they cut the trees like that? Where are all those people going? It looks like pedistrians do not have the right of way.
Going to and from work i'd assume. Hardly anyone is wealthy enough to afford a car so everyone has to walk or bike
❤❤
Wow, some of the North Koreans have a better car than I do. Smh...
yes like in the rest of the world, some jobs pay better so some people can afford better cars
so, I guess the media lied to us telling that we live better than them? hehe it all depends on your job.
Why are the trees stumps?
right? what kind of gardening is this? 😂 if the trees survive, at all, they'll take years to grow back
maybe for wood to heat homes? 🤔
❤❤
What I noticed: people don't talk to each other, the streets are rough, the pedestrian line is ignored, the car are old and imported, nobody smile. It seems to be a sad city.
Streets are rough?? They look better than here in Belgium.
+ToshiroMifuneSamurai
come on you are exaggerating
Look better than the streets here in Michigan as well.
Driving here looks a lot easier and less stressful than literally anywhere I've lived here in the UK. LOL.
But the camera car seems to barge into the pedestrian crossing at 7:09 while everyone else has stopped and while there are people crossing the road. Not sure if that's allowed.
Also, at 2:20 that appears to be a police car (it says "Traffic Safety" on the side) leading a motorcade which also includes a propaganda loudspeaker van and the brown buses carrying the workers being welcomed.
❤❤
No respect for pedestrians. They are treated like cattle even when they are walking at designated crosswalks.
…no respect for vehicles, pedestrians running into and in between moving vehicles, dashing into traffic at the last minute
Do u even have a drivers license?
There's literally not enough cars to warrant having traffic lights...
ad blocker on the city
And that makes Pyongyang so beautiful.
Lmaoooo🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

North Korea is so peaceful I am fucked up with Bangalore traffic and pollution
Jag B same. I hate jakarta traffic and pullotion.
Is it possible for you to drive outside of Pyongyang? Or is your car marked as a foreigners car or something?
I have been watching and rewatching your videos for how many years now. I love all of it. it's like China but looks more organized peaceful. few cars is better.
Dude it’s North Korea.
What his job there?? May I know

sepertinya jarang ada pasar atau pedagang di sepanjang jalan ya ...
Seems like all buildings are empty
wow. it seems crowded at tongdaewon street. Was this the same for every other street?
looks fairly decent to be honest of a city
It looks like the most boring city on the planet though
Agree with tpask162. Not much entertainment
You drive crazy! Why did you use a horn to warn people? Do they use pedestrian crossings? It's awful for European guy!

Is it illegal to stop in north korea? At least here in Sweden we have to stop at road crossings to let pedestrians over..
the good thing in this country is the traffic is on the sidewalk
They say it turns to Figueroa St in South Central LA after dark though so keep your head on the swivel!!!!!
