Love the video. I remember when I first joined my powerlifting and learned with time how many people in there were not natural. After being obsessed with my numbers and plateauing at time I understood why they did it. I'm still natural, but trained with them to learn form and technique. I competed in a local competition and got first place in my category. 280 bench, 430 squat, 475 dealift. Natural. Some guys in their have physically demanding jobs like me and gave into the gear, but I refuse to go down that path. My goals are 315 bench, 495 deadlift, and 500 squat naturally. Hoping it's doable.

During the eldritch season what was the most heart racing movie/house/costume you saw? With owning a business and having Calgary Barbell as your main form of income how have you dealt with stress of a business, how have you limited other stress, and how has training been effected by that stress and what ways do you move through these stress trials in training?

I happen to own a a first edition copy of Eldritch Wizardry by Gygax and Blume. I can remember how excited I was when it came out because I am old like dirt. My question is who is "nerdier," me for having a book by that title, especially that book, or you guys for picking that as word of the week? I feel like there can be no loser here. Keep up the great work, I really appreciate your content.

I have yet to work out in the new Calgary Barbell gym, but the old gym in the beat up industrial area had such an eldritch feel. The graffitied dungeon was a great place to lift while on business trips. Also great music!

I am wondering why is the pre loft routine so important for deadlifting? When I deadlif, if I put on some loud music, pace and then scream before lifting I can lift much more an on the other hand I missed lifts just because I went in calm. It almost feels like I am chanelling eldritch energy, but surely there is a better explanation?

Have you ever played the Eldritch horror game, Darkest Dungeon? It is painful and heartbreaking at times. However, if you stay the course and keep chugging along, you will get euphoric moments of victory.
    It's kind of like powerlifting.

As a musical fan, I was hoping you could weigh in on a serious question. English musician Andrew Eldritch is know for his baritone voice and proto-goth sound. Canada’s own Blood Ceremony combined aspects of psychedelic folk and doom metal, as best exemplified on the 2013 release entitled The Eldritch Dark. Supposing we took the best aspect of both, would it recall more the Italian prog-metal Eldritch or lean more towards the more neo-baroque, cerebral, academic musical venturings of Dr. Mark Elliot Bergman’s Five Eldritch Horrors?

How important is ritual or habit in preparing for a meet? Do you pray to eldritch deities in the weight room before getting on the platform? Always play the same Black Dahlia Murder song before a heavy lift (I'd choose Warborn)? And how can we use rituals/habits advantageously without them becoming a crutch? Love the content!

Music is a really powerful training tool for going for maxes. Do you find that when your doing your rehabilitation work you listen to more calm music as to not hype yourself up so you can simply focus on the muscles? Coming from someone recovering from an injury myself I often find I can’t listen to music or I’ll get carried away with hype. Oh yeah, Eldritch.

Few people can devote themselves to such an unprofitable sport for a long time, for years. In my country, powerlifting is quite popular (we had many world champions), but many national team members train only 3 times a week and do not make a living from powerlifting..

you dont have to take roids to acheive your goal. you just need to change your mind set differently . my theroy is roids people can rest or do recovery and acheive there goals , natural cant , try not do resting to much just dont lift as heavy you want or else u be sore as fuck!. do high reps with dropset high to lower weights example start 175 , 150 then last 100 thats one set of dropsets do this 3 times then move on to next machine. just so you know you can do few technique on one machine ... you will see results in few short months..me just few days
