GILBERTO OZUNA GARCIA EDINBURG - Gilberto Ozuna Garcia, 74, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, September 21, 2015. Mr. Garcia was born in Edinburg and had lived there all of his life. Gilberto was the founder of Los Dos Gilbertos, the leader and accordion player for the band. During his 45 year career as a musician, he and Los Dos Gilbertos were awarded with many distinguished musical awards, his last was being nominated for a Latin Grammy Award. His music was loved by many, and his legacy will live forever.

Played at weddings, Rosedale park n other events,especially during our San Antonio fiesta events. Love their style of polkas music. One of the best among our other famous conjuntos.✝️💃👍🥰

Did anyone notice the accordion mike holder? I'll guarantee you that is Gilberto Garcia's ingenious, home-made, custom-made handy work. Using a piece of bent galvanized metal attached to the accordion with wood screws. Puro mexicano made! That's the way the older generations used to do it. My dad was born in 1915 and that's the way he used to fix stuff, the old-fashioned way. Adelante mi gente!

Thanks for sharing. I've been a 2Gs fan since I was 15 yrs old & I'm well into my late 30s now. I'm originally from the valley & I get home sick sometimes. But listening to these guys play always reminds me of home. Thanks for the great music, Gilberto. You are missed, RIP.

I was working at a stripes in San Benito overnight and both these men came in for a coffee looked like they had just finished playing a gig .......I never asked them for a autograph or photo but I never charged them the coffee either 😊! My uncle Gilbert loved these guys!

My carnal had a conjunto in the Houston area in the 70s - he had the good fortune to kick-off dances with the 2Gs many times. I remember these legends back in 1979, 1980, 1983, playing in Houston area dance halls. Alma Latina Ballroom, Dickinson, TX. - Matamoros Ballroom, Houston, TX - Pan American Ballroom, El Campo, TX.......the rest is history.
Anytime they came to Pasadena or Houston area my aunt was there.... she would drop every damn thing. Bless her heart. RIP Alma Champagne Trevino

Los dos Gilberto's is a group that my family knows because of my father. Conjunto music is very special to the Perez family from kingsville,tx. My dad loved to play Los Dos Gilberto's music very loudly that could be heard throughout the neighborhood and I loved it. Beers, BBQ, and dancing.

@@jmarquez6 well Palabra de hombre was written by Mexican Jose Alfredo Jimenez and though the band is conjunto genre they are playing ranchera style which is also from Mexico back from the revolution. They are also singing in Spanish which in Texas is almost guaranteed to be because of Mexican roots. Mexicans speak Spanish because of the Conquista which forced Mexica natives to speak Spanish. Yes they are us born but those lyrics, melodies were created from a Mexican soul . The author of Palabra de hombre also authored El Rey . Another popular song they would play Vieja escalera , también, Mexican author from Tamaulipas Agapito zuniga .All the huge acts relied on Mexican authored music to get through the night tbqfh. They knew their roots , some conjunto and tejano fans don't want to know. It's why they could play in Mexico for much much bigger crowds than in Texas , because the Mexicanos already knew the songs since they had already been done in mariachi or trio style.
