    I both learned how to put the tensioner in correctly (was initially putting it below the slot instead of in it) as well as the fact there's a needle holder on the machine 🤣

      I had my machine for a very long time before I realized the hole was a needle holder 😀.

    Very good point with being able to see the row counter! I’ve seen colored ones out there. I’m glad I haven’t ordered one yet!

    Love your tension fork and greatly appreciated the guidelines for using I t with various yarns...made it possible for me to "tame" a DK yarn that had not been working well with my Addi... now it's great when I used the tightest tension! Also...great idea for "storing"the tensioner on the machine...very smart!

    I love my tenion fork that I bought from you, can you tell me how many rows do you do for a mans hat using the loose hole? My husband passed away two weeks ago on our 60th Anniversary and I'm so lonely. I'm trying to keep busy with my Addi machine. Thank you so much. Pat

      Hello Pat, I am very sorry for your loss. I hope that you are able to keep busy with the knitting machine, there are so many things you can make with it to help fill some time. I generally use my Sentro 48 pin machine for adult hats, my husband doesn't care for the ones made on the Addi he thinks they are too tight, though I have only done them using the middle hole and I used my Smart Beanie Recipe. For my adult hats I do about 120 rows or so and it is a good fit for most heads. I would think 120 should work if using the 3rd hole, it will be a good starting point if nothing else.

    Do you have a small chart regarding which tension hole to use? I think I used “I Love This Yarn” from Hobby Lobby to make a beanie for my 6 yr. old granddaughter. Her head size is about 20+1/2 inches around. I used the Tight hole and the beanie is too tight on her head. Is it a just try it and see technique? Thank you!

    • @Savlabot
      @Savlabot  9 місяців тому

      I don't have a chart posted anywhere with the tension I used with specific yarns, I do include an instruction card with each purchase with suggested tensions but it is more of a guideline than a chart. I haven't used ILTY in a while so I don't know off hand what tension would be best, but I think moderate might work. I usually use my Sentro for Youth and adult beanies on tight tension. I feel the 2 extra stitches n the Sentro helps give a bit more room. Trying just the 2nd hole (moderate tension) should be a good place to start and see how it goes.

    Can you use bulky (6) yarn with tensioner on addi?

    • @Savlabot
      @Savlabot  Рік тому

      I wouldn't suggest using a size 6 yarn, that would be too heavy of a yarn to use with the machine without damaging the gears. Heavier yarns put too much stress on the pins. There are some lighter weight size 5 yarns that I have used with success like Lion Brand Scarfie but in general I mostly use the recommended weight yarns which are 3's and 4's.

    Did the tension fork come with your mechine

    • @Savlabot
      @Savlabot  2 роки тому

      No, Addi machines do not have a tensioner, so I created this tool to use with it. I designed it specifically to be used with the machine and I sell them in my Etsy Shop.

    Just ordered couple. Question if i ran to strands on the third hole would it ne ok for mens hat. Cheers

    • @Savlabot
      @Savlabot  3 роки тому

      Thank you! I think you are asking if you ran more than one strand of yarn using the 3rd hole (farthest from the machine) would it be loose enough for a mens hat? If so, I think it would depend on the yarn you are using, it is hard to suggest what hole to use unless I know what yarn.

      @@johnbayliss7124 I think the 3rd hole will work with two strands of a size 3 yarn. Should give a lose enough fit.

    Is there a place other than Etsy to purchase your product? To ship to Canada it costs over $19 to ship it for a $10 product.

    • @Savlabot
      @Savlabot  3 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately that is the cost of shipping to Canada, I am in the US and have tried to bring the cost to ship the product down, but that is what USPS charges to mail from the US to Canada. I don't even charge for the shipping materials, the instruction sheet or the info card, which do cost me money to make and provide with each order. I do wish that the price to mail was cheaper, but other methods that I have tried result in the tension fork breaking, so mailing as a parcel is the best way to mail them.
