She is Angela Lansbury., Murder She Wrote. She said the funny part she plays Elvis mother and she was 2 years older than him. She said that Elvis was sweet and funny. She loved working with him. "Blue Hawaii". Fun and easy on the eyes. Thanks it is a treat to treat to watch you.

Angela Lansbury is an absolute movie icon. She also played in the film noir thriller "Gaslighting" (1944). Many use the term "gaslighting" without having watched the movie which made this word a synonym that is used until today.
Angela passed in October 2022. R.I.P.

Elvis looks fantastic, sings fantastic, everything about this man is extraordinary and magical. Some years ago I used to chat with different people that had the chance to see him live in concerts and all said that Elvis looked better in person than on the screen and his concerts were the best live performances they ever seen. Even, he's ex wife Priscilla said:"'He was more handsome than he looked in films".

Angela Lansbury played his Mum in the movie but was a matter of a few years older than Elvis. I have read that Elvis sent her Mothers Day cards in the following years, not sure for how long. Fun film many believe that this film although very successful was somewhat of a killer movie that paved the way for poor girl glamoured films which didnt give Elvis the acting platform he needed. But he was getting a million dollars per film plus royalties an insane amount of money negotiated by Parker (man) whereby he was the highest paid performer in Hollywood.

Angela Lansbury played Elvis’ mom in Blue Hawaii. It’s an otherwise silly, typical Elvis romance musical from that time, but it’s funny to see such a great, distinguished actress in an Elvis movie. She was only about a decade older than Presley at the time, and had nothing but good things to say about him. She used a southern American accent for the film, which cracked me up. 😂. I saw Bedknobs and Broomsticks as a kid before I saw this, so I knew her right away. She was also in the TV series Murder, She Wrote and did voice work on Beauty and the Beast. Bedknobs is one of the most underrated Disney live action films ever made. The WWII stuff was terrific and the effects were way better than anything in CG.

Just heard Elvis in a video from the 70's telling a Vegas audience that when they were filming the wedding scene they were pulled down the river by people w/ropes underneath. He told the audience that the deck they were on hit the land on the side & both he & his bride fell into the mud. The audience just screamed at the story. He said it took 3 hours to clean them up to film the wedding song again.

As much as I am an avid Elvis fan, I find it difficult not to watch the vivacious Joan Blackman who to me physically is the perfect match. Great as this scene is, the song started life as the promoted 'A' side on the single but was overturned by the 'B' side Can't Help Falling In Love.

    That's Angela Lansbury!
I know her from Murder She Wrote and as the voice as Mrs. Potts on Beauty and the Beast and also, yes, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and also National Velvet.
I think she was also in "My Fair Lady" but don't quote me on that, I can't remember. And if you don't know that movie Seph, allow me to quote the most famous line from that movie: "C'mon, Dover! Move yer bloomin' arse!"
    It's a musical. I think I told you, I've a fondness for movie musicals.
    Okay, moving on...
"Rock- A- Hula- Baby" was written by three songwriters I already gave bios on; they are: Ben Weisman, Fred Wise, & Dolores Fuller.
Now this song is rather interesting.
First: Steve Sholes produced this recording session with The Jordanaires backing Elvis on the vocals.
Second: Elvis & Co recorded this song on March 23, 1961 at Radio Recorders in Hollywood, CA.
Third: This was on the B- side of a single that was a UK singles chart topper hit. No spoilers, Seph. Plus I promised Robbansa I'd not build up songs for you 🎶Too Much🎶 & I do like to think of myself as a woman of my word 😊
    Okay, Fourth, Chart Performance:
US Billboard Pop Singles Chart: #23
    Australia: #1
    Canada: #4
    The Philippines: #1
UK Singles Chart: #1 (February 1962 spent 4 weeks at the chart summit).
When re- released in 2005 the single topped off at #3 in the UK and enjoyed another four week chart run in the top 3.
As I have said, I cannot tell you what song is/ was on the A- side of that single. Simply because you have yet to react to it, Seph.
Fifth: In the 1991 film "Rock- A- Doodle" the song was parodied from "Rock- A- Hula Baby" keeping The Jordainaires on the cartoon film's title movie song track.
And that's it, Seph & everyone! That's all she wrote 😉
Aw, Seph... I'm so happy this song made you so happy! One thing I will say though: The ending of this song is just like the ending of "Steppin' Out Of Line". I think I like that one just a tad more.
Still fun though! And my oh my Elvis does look rather dashing 😍💓💞
You're a delight, Seph, an absolute delight Seph and I am so glad this one was over 10 minutes YAY 🙌💃🙌💃🙌💃🙌💃
The Elvis 🚂💨🍃🍂🍁🌿 is now at Double Banger Central Station!
    YES!
    Happy Tunes Tuesday everyone 🎵🎹🎼🎤🎶🎸🎶😃✌🙏💕

Murder She Wrote is still shown on tv here in Sweden. I remember when I saw this movie as a kid, I was furious with that woman, her over playing made me so mad it ruined the film. I've seen it a few times since then, but I have never quite gotten over that first feeling. I don't dislike her that much nowadays.

    • @sammy_the_uncool2702
      @sammy_the_uncool2702 Рік тому +3

@@robbansa I've been there I think. Though not with Angela Lansbury. I never really liked Jim Carrey. When I was a kid I thought he was so annoying. I didn't see where he was funny at all. (I only liked one movie he was in & that was it.)
Now as an adult... I no longer feel half as strongly about him.
He's still not exactly my cup of tea but now I'm mature enough to acknowledge that someone can still be talented whether they're my cup of tea or not. (Even though there are some singers I'm not a fan of at all. That's not me saying I think so- and- so is not talented. That's just me saying, "I'm not so sure if this artist or band is doing it for me.")
Anyhoo... Fun fact: A bad first impression sticks with a person for 13 years.
So maybe now that it's been longer than 13 years for you, you're of a more relaxed opinion concerning Angela Lansbury.
      It's a theory anyway ☺
