  • We're in a time of social division, a time of plague, and suffering. We've been here before. Petrarch lived 700 years ago & turned to ideas and wisdom of the past for consolation and guidance.
He started a renaissance. Can we do so today, too? Join our conversation to find out!
Francisco Petrarch, father of the Italian Renaissance, thought so when his era was similarly divided and despairing.
Please enjoy this conversation with Petrarch scholar Christopher Celenza of Johns Hopkins University as we explore the ingredients of civic, social, and intellectual renewal, drawing lessons from the era of "rebirth"-known to history as the Italian Renaissance-that Petrarch led.
Celenza is the author of a wonderful biography of Petrarch, entitled "Petrarch: Everywhere a Wanderer," availbale for purchase on Amazon.
The conversation will be co-faciliated by Anya Leonard, founder and CEO of Classical Wisdom, and Alexandra Hudson, founder and curator of Civic Renaissance.
In this conversation, we reflect on how lessons from the beginning of the Italian renaissance offer insights into our own moment, and inspiration for us to usher in a Renaissance today.
All registrants will receive a copy of the recording.
We hope you enjoy this dialogue!
