Between this and the Rtype port for Mega Drive there is much to look forward to. I can't wait to try this someday. :) Looks incredible. Thanks for the hard work to make this happen.
Glad to see this is still in the works, as it shows a lot of promise. The backgrounds are looking awesome. Can't wait to see it all come together. Keep it up! 👍
Hey aMaru I hope you are doing well. This project is coming along nicely. I'm glad to see you are working on it and patiently looking forward to it whenever you finish it. Keep going man, you are making history. :)
phew, relief that you're still ok and working on this. Hey, real life is important too so don't neglect that. overall, can't wait to see the comparison once it's all done. makes me wonder if it gets easier to program for the remaining stages.
For sure stage 2 is the most challenging in terms of reproducing all the background and enemy sprite animation, particularly when hacking the original ROM rather than programming the game from scratch. Also I learned a lot in the process, so hopefully the rest of the stages should be a bit less complex to deal with.
As far as I know the thread still exists, only the forum was moved to a different domain, which at the moment seems to raise some security issues with most browsers
Stage 2 is currently using an additional 116KBytes (approx 0,9 Mbits), of which 80% is taken by (compressed) graphical assets and 20% by new code/animation. It must be noted, however, that I am NOT removing the original graphics/code from the ROM. So overall the INCREASE in rom size is less than what reported. I'll provide more detailed info when the stage is 100% complete.
Brutal aMaru, es increíble, me alegro mucho de que continúes y estés bien, muchos ya dudábamos que siguieras adelante, GRACIAS por mostramos los avances. 👏🏽
Love seeing the work in progress - i do hope that you don't 'fix' the hitbox / controls for this game as this port plays better than the arcade, by design or by accident.
Definitely not planning to alter the controls. For the hitboxes, there are some instances that will need fixing, either because they were inaccurate to begin with, or because by restoring the original larger sprites hit detection feels weird.
It would be my plan to work on a demo release as soon as I'm done with Stage 2. The process is not as quick as it might seem, because hacking into the program code introduces bugs, which are typically very time consuming to detect and fix when working on the binary rather than the source code.
impressive!
Nice.

If that ever ships it will probably be the best looking Sega Genesis game ever released! Congrats!
good to know this is still being worked on, the thread about this on Sega 16 message board was deleted :(

Great to see the project goes on! By the way, currently how much ROM memory are you using?

Muito bom. Sucesso no projeto!
My favorite game :)
Spectacular as always. 👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Is there any chance for a wip demo release?
I second this!

Excellent! I have shaders to RetroArch (various, package). Greetings.
I was wondering as this has been quiet for a while now. I wish you could get some help!
was thinking about this just yesterday. glad to see an update 🙂
You've done such beautiful work already, aMaru, so glad to see you'll be able to continue this project. 😙🤌
