Watching Whales

Rode shotgun with Thommo on a flight from RAAF Base Williamtown to Scone through the Hunter Valley, then to the north coast beaches on the way back. While holding outside the military airspace, we were treated to a show by migrating whales.

If I may ask, did you require any special clearance to depart/ store your aircraft at an RAAF base, or are you a servicemember? Lovely sights!

Williamtown is a dual use airport - has both civil and military operations. A few other airports are similar - Townsville and Darwin in particular. That said, this flight I flew with a friend who is a servicemember.
