So far in the big NSW suburbs I have not encountered problems to cash out $1-2k and use that money instead of card, I only have their debit card btw.
It sounds like CBA will start "crashing" atm to force people to pay $3, I will show myself out.

I reckon my time is worth $50 an hour and most people have their own value per hour. So how about we charge banks for waiting in queues waiting to be served and send THEM invoices to cover our time spent. Let's see, $50 and hour works out around 83 cents a minute. I've waited up to 10 minutes in some Commbank branches so that's an invoice fee I should be charging the bank of $8.30. If I pay their $3 charge I'll be $5.30 ahead!!!!!!!

Left them for ING years ago as they actually take your money when you don't touch it or spend it (with their dumb monthly fees), kudos to the honest teller at the Combank branch that told me it was best to leave for better rates and be away from anti-consumer shenanigans.
These days I only withdraw lots of $200 at a time to wave away any withdrawal cost from ATM and have great millage that way, I also make money with INGs monthly rebates by continually saving, don't know why that wasn't the model ComB championed like WTH. Cash is always King everyone and if you are smart you'd have an ample amount stashed outside of any bank.

They should change their name to the con and wealth bank. The solution is to close your account and get a safe or find another bank that has integrity and looks after their customers money which should gain interest, not be taxed, that is a criminal act within itself. When Cyclone Jasper came through last year, we could only use cash because everything else was down and cash is king. If I go into a store and they try not to take cash, I will just leave the money on the counter and tell them it's legal tender and then walk out.

@ really? They can kick my door in and take my piggy bank any time they like? Pretty sure theres a law against that somewhere.
But more to the point, i was referring to the fact that you can take your money out of the commonwealth and stick in the westpac, anz, or a credit union.
If all the Commonwealth bank customers voiced their objection by taking their business elsewhere then the CB might decide it was a bad idea. if all the other banks, that just got a heap of new customers, saw the CB struggling, then maybe they will refrain from making similar decisions.

Here in the US, if you use the ATM from a bank other than the one you have an account in, both banks charge you a $2-$3 fee each time.

It was like that here for a moment as well but the backlash from the public was strong enough that it was revoked. This is talking about people who are banking with their own bank.

Your pubic need to get angry about it.. like swarms of people hit the banks and complain about the fee or ask for.it to be refunded every time you speak to the bank.. or go in and tell them to refund all the fees with your statement highlighted.. showing where they charged you or threaten a class action against them..
      Watch how quickly they fold.

Try credit unions.. they are a lot better and provide just as many services too.. plus when you open an account with a credit union, they usually use your first deposit as a share purchase so every person using them have part shares in the union itself.

Do not see the problem at all. Use ATM and be happy. They definitely do not make money from these silly $3, its just to scare away everybody who (for unknown reason) cant use automated mainstream process and forces bank to increase expensive low-level staff.
