I can only imagine what the Lions fans were thinking as this game began: Down 7-0- "Not a great start" Down 14-0- "This team is trash" Down 21-0- "This team is a joke" That's the Lions fans right there in a nutshell.
This was one of my favorite years of football. It was before they ruined the logos in the NFL. Carolina, Detroit, Miami, Jacksonville, LA Chargers, and LA Rams all changed their logos for the worse. Buffalo looks worse now that they use the white helmets instead of the red ones. The Eagles and Patriots are the only two NFL teams which had a logo change for the better in the late 90's.
Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell caught his very last NFL pass in this game. He's also a member of this team, that went 0-16 in 2008. 15 years later, the Detroit Lions are going to San Francisco to play the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game for the right to represent the NFC in Super Bowl 58 in early February in Las Vegas.
the first score that the 2008 detroit lions allowed was a rookie QBs first ever nfl pass going for a TD. if that doesn’t sum up their entire season then idk what does 😂
>$250m renovation package >replaced 10 years later for $1b I don't understand how or why people tolerate that BS? Lambeau Field got a $250m MASSIVE renovation around 2000 and the only thing we've done since with that was renovate one side and added 10k more seats! Our stadium is still rocking since 1957! I don't understand why cities/teams replace their stadiums after not even 20-30 years... Especially the Georgia Dome here as it was still hosting championship games and a Wrestlemania!
Yeah. I love the Benz. The Georgia Dome still should be standing today for Georgia State. In my opinion, it should have been the Braves who should have stayed at Turner Field.
@@spencermiller2032 Oh that ticked me off too! Turner Field wasn't even 20 years old when Atlanta announced its replacement, because apparently, all the ticket buyers came from where they placed their new stadium, and they say traffic was bad getting to Turner, now Sun Trust has bad traffic too. All lies and gaslighting.
Seriously. Turner Field was historic. Now it’s rotting away as a disjointed football dump. Truist feels like a corporate cashgrab. They should’ve added a battery. Hotel and chop house to Turner. Plus it had the city skyline that we don’t get with Truist. At least the Georgia Dome had an excuse to be demolished because it’s roof was fragile. There’s no excuse for Turner.
man i like watching the game like this. Instead of the ones shown on T.V were they cut it to just show play after play. Ruins the flow of the game and they cut extra parts of the game out. Wish they made a editon were they just cut only the commercial and left everything else alone.
Thanks for uploading this man, so many things happen in this game:
- Mike Smith & Matt Ryan's debut
-The Road to 0-16 begins lol
Was Mike Smith the Falcons' coach here?

The beginning of a new era of Falcons football
An era that sadly ended a few days ago with his trade. Tough day for many a Falcons fan
A very painful era*

This guy is now the Lions Head Coach.
He's coming for everyone's kneecaps! :)
And has now led them to their first playoff win in 32 years and added another win to lead them to the NFC Championship Game/
Believe it or not the lions were actually favored to win this game
And it was the only game they were favored in that season.
So eerie to hear the commentators talk about teams like them right before kickoff

Poor Rod Marinelli. He had no idea what kind of horror show he was in for.
‼️ I will always be grateful for these memories but Matt Ryan time is coming to an end. ✌🏾
And so, a legend was born.
Facts
Wow - nice to see this! On one side rookie QB Matt Ryan and the other side QB Jon Kitna. Both were touted as fine young players for the NFL.
This is the first NFL game I ever went to
Thanks
I cant believe this is almost 10 years ago
Just only imagine what the Lions season would be like after this game!
Thank you for the upload
Rod Marinelli looked confused from the outset
He carried a sharp shovel and a sharp pick though.
I was at this game for my birthday
this was a hell of a Lions team !
