Still in this I talk about things to watch out for with regards to when not to use the comp, how it can fail on you, and what your options are for variations. 39:45 - 43:07 I LOVE how Khad really had to fish for nice things to say about Quick. 40 minutes of how to setup the comp, and how the other 2 cards compare with each other, then not even 4 minutes on how Quick has supports that don’t really work and we should just use the other 2 instead of Quick lol! Here’s hoping the devs pull a bunny waifu out of their hat for anniversary and finally get us that update to Quick they said they were working on.
I'm just happy to have both Castoria and OG Merlin, now I'm free of using any good DPS for this comp. I know surely one of my friend who will NP5 Morgan maxed skilled, maxed fou, and level 120 with good CC... Hahaha lucky to have a leviathan in your friendlist.
Whenever I'm not sure how to handle a particular fight, or if I'm sure I'm gonna deal with annoying gimmicks I don't want to put up with, I pretty much just use Merlin/Himiko/Castoria. I only take potshots with Himiko but her critical damage is high enough to punch through most problems in a few hits, meanwhile Castoria can NP every other turn to protect the party from anything without buff removal. Even if Castoria NPs solo, with an Overcharge buff from Himiko she's still getting at least 3 hits which is full protection from basically anything for at least one turn. This comp is more on the grindy side but its seriously almost invincible. A more offensive alternative imo would be Summer BB if you can lock down Himiko's cards, which trades healing and per-turn NP batteries for removing charges from enemies and, ideally, 3 turns of Himiko absolutely destroying everything. I don't particularly favor Morgan but she can definitely expand horizons with her kit and class, especially if Castoria can consistently NP to protect her (oh the irony).
Buster variants have gotten the job done for me, with either Himiko or Morgan in the third slot. Himiko's 2 overcharge stacks vs Morgan's 1 can make a difference if you need maximum turtling power from Castoria, and if you can get Himiko's face cards at the right time she can land some pretty satisfying buster crits. Morgan meanwhile has more consistent damage output and a targetable battery, which can make fights a bit shorter and less card RNG-dependent. Just gotta watch your defenses more, due to having 4 invuln stacks instead of 5, plus zerker Morgan not being able to take a punch as well as a Ruler can should an attack get through. In the end either setup gets the job done, so I'd say it's case-by-case on which one is gonna work better.
Himiko is the best for this comp imo from experience. Morgan at NP1 being a berserker and only one level OC is rough compared to Himiko at NP1 and ruler class in general. That star gen every turn can’t be understated. It’s slower for sure but I think survival rate has to be around 20% better from my personal experience.
I haven't tried it, since I don't have reines in my JP account, but I'm pretty sure the safest version is when you swap the damage dealer with reines, since she has an arts NP negates class disadvantage, increases NP gain and gives overcharge. So not only you'll get to your NPs quite quickly, but in the turns you're uncovered you'll not only have the healing from one of the merlins, but also her damage cut and defense up... but it will be extremely slow, still probably the safest version of the comp tho.
I don't have either Castoria or Merlin, so I decided to use Morgan-Tamamo-Castoria(support). I was originally considering using Hans as a replacement to Merlin before I remembered that Tamamo existed. The chain I use is Morgan->Castoria->Tamamo. This gives me 43.75% NP gauge instead of 37.5% + having castoria getting the gauge too, though this is at the cost of only getting 3 stacks of solemn defense instead of 4. Merlin's role in the immortal team is primarly healing and to a lesser extent passive NP charge and star gen. Tamamo has a much weaker healing and no star gen. Instead, she gives in massive instant NP charge + the esteemed cooldown reduction. and for the panic button instead of a 1 turn party-wide invul, you get a charge down. which most of the time is probably worse, BUT against invul ignoring bastards is actually useful.
On thing I would like to add to the Arts options - Tezcatlipolca. A comp of Tezca, Lady Avalon and Castoria you can start the battle with the NP combo with no need of mana-loading or starting charge CEs. Tezca: 50% own Charge skill, 30% Castoria Charisma and 20% Lady Avalon Charisma Lady Avalon: 20% from own passive, 30% Tezca charge, another 50% from both Charismas Castoria: 30% Tezca's charge, 50% from both Charisma skills, remaining 20% from her targeted charge skill used on herself.
I used this comp a day or two ago to beat the final boss of Lostbelt 6 Part 1. Now, because their normal attacks were AoE, it wasn't exactly invulnerable, but it still kept me from having to look up and have to plan a more intricate team around it. Never, and i mean NEVER, have I ever appreciated Merlin's healing as much as now, cause the sheer amount of regen was the only thing that kept my team alive for so long. That, and Cassie's invuls and debuff clear. Took me 22 turns. Admittedly, it might've possibly gone faster if I used a different damage dealer, but I was really excited to use my shiny new Morgan.
There are 3 alternative to the “3rd unit” in an invul comp: Himiko, Morgan, Reines. Himiko: probably the safest out of all 3. Since she give 2 levels of OC. So you can either go for full 5 stacks on Castoria or dedicate 1T to her to NP and then proceed to unga bunga with buster cards (or refill her NP bar with the Art cards) and settle with 4 stacks for Castoria. Also, she gives out tons of stars. Probably the best star gen in this game. Which helps you to crit easily. Morgan: the only one when you would use the NP offensively, rather than buffing. Which is great for when you need to deal with multiple enemies. Save you the time having to pick them off one by one. Reines: similar to Himiko, where you would mostly rely on buffing the face cards to deal damage. A great thing about her is that she’s a top tier battery that can split her charge on 3 skills, which is extremely flexible. Not to mention the 3T 30%~50% NP gain every time she NP. That will help a lot for refilling the NP gauge with face cards. If you don’t have Merlin, try Miyu if you have her. After the NP buff she’s a great alternative for healing chip damage and NP charge per turn. Also, another fatal enemy of the immortal comp is the instant death. I this case, you could either use Skadi to prevent it or god forbid, Irisviel for the team Guts.

I kind of wish you'd have touched a bit on Craft Essence options. You only off-handedly mention Prisma Cosmos for the supports at one point, but don't really go into any alternatives, nor mention anything about CEs for the damage dealer. I guess it's not really an integral part of the composition, as it's mainly about the characters working off of each other, with CEs just being bonuses. But it doesn't really feel like a complete guide without, which is kind of too bad, since you actually go in-depth with actual character alternatives instead of the easy option of just going "Just roll for Morgan lmao".
Question if I may? Without 1 level of Overcharge from a skill, wouldn't the stack of Castorias Avalon Defense be at max of 3 if we just assume triple NP and execution order? Does stacking NPs provide any further bonus? Because at around 21:00 you mention 4 stacks at max without an OC charge skill and 5 with Proto Merlins Skill OC. Did I miss something XD ?
@@gunnarschlichting9886 Even with Morgan's NP OC effect the max should be at x4 stacks if you put Castoria at the end of the chain in a 3x NP turn. Khad mentions x5 stack max, that's why I am asking ^.^;....

So far, Himiko-Merlin-Castoria has been AMAZING for me in NA. As long as enemies don't remove buffs, big, and I mean BIG, crits and absolute invencibility is SO much fun.
I always find it funny to see people complain about how they scaled the np/turn on Femlin's NP with NP level. The max HP buff from her NP is SO MUCH WORSE than Merlin's heals. At NP1 they're still roughly equal, but an NP2 Merlin already heals for 7.5k. Even if you're not using all of it, it's still going to be better than a measly 3 turn 4k max HP buff a lot of the time. Either they would've had to make the numbers on the max HP buff a lot higher and increase the duration, or they give her a niche that is mildly different from OG. They went with the latter
Does overcharge depend on np level for example i have a unit who is np level 1 but I have 2 stack of overcharge so will the overcharge level be 2 or 3?
It might be theoretically possible, but it's going to be harder thanks to the way Tamamo's NP works. Tamamo gives block healing instead of healing over time, so it might get wasted. In addition, Tamamo gives block charge, so either you use Tamamo before Castoria and Castoria doesn't get the charge from Tamamo's NP, or you use Tamamo after Castoria and Castoria doesn't get the extra stack of overcharge from going after Tamamo. Edit: There's also the fact that Tamamo doesn't have an invincibility skill like Merlin and LA do.
I use a variation of the comp with Castoria/Tamamo/Himiko. I found that to be better against ST bosses, as Himiko's crits some times hit harder than Morgan's NP
qin shi huang, castoria, and lady avalon is sleeper op even if he doesnt have an overcharge effect. with that many arts buffs and his 50% np charge + stun and charge drain it seems pretty op.
With the addition of multiple support comps, Merlin is like the 3rd or 4th most common support Caster after Cassie, Skadi, and Waver. I dunno why you can't seem to find them.
You can. It's a little jankier since she needs to be put last in the chain, but I've slopped my way through basically every CQ since Himiko's release with (support)Himiko-Castoria-Tama.

I’ve recently have been tackling all CQ’s with Himiko Merlin and Castoria; I love big crits.
Personally if I don't get morgan i can do it with Himiko so we chillin
Himiko is better for it anyway if you can’t quickly kill the enemy with Morgan and they have AOE attacks

I remember feeling lazy and wading through a challenge quest with double-Merlin Jeanne. It was SLOOOOW. like 60-some turns. But I didn't lose anybody.

If arts can work with any dps with Lady Avalon, I guess Astraea would be a good fit? Especially for evil bosses.

Well my problem is that Merlin supports don’t exist and he never came home. So the invincible comp will usually be out of my grasp :(
