Admirable for Brodie to give it a go on tour. Think what you wish about how he "cut in line" in disc golf, so to speak-but he brought eyes to the game. Good luck for what's next!
He had a year or 2 of striving to better himself and try to win. When he realized he couldn't compete on the level that it took to win large tournaments, he quiet-quit disc golf. His future in the game, is exactly this video, podcasting and hot-takes.
Here is one truth for every successful touring player: Disc golf is their life and they would be playing disc golf almost every day even if the pro tour didn't exist. They absolutely love the sport. Professional disc golf on tour is a GRIND, and to actually make a good living at it is even harder. Brodie was able to avoid this problem due to his social media following which got him a big contract right out of the gates. But not going through the decades long grind that most tour players do, severely limited the development of his game. Brodie always said that it's harder to compete on the PGA Tour than it is the PDGA Tour, which is true, but it's far harder to make a LIVING at professional disc golf than it is golf. Only a handful at the top can truly do it. It has been an absolute blast having Brodie involved with disc golf, but the reality is he's 37 years old and isn't actually a disc golfer. Once he retires from competing, he'll play a handful of rounds per year the rest of his life. The players who actually compete on tour will play as often as they can as long as they can, regardless of paycheck. They just love the game and will be playing MA60 when that day comes.
It's not harder to make a living playing disc golf than golf. To get on the pdga tour is much harder than getting on dgpt. I agree the money is low for dg pros but making the pdga with thousands of great golfers is pretty difficult. Pro disc golf is just a bad career decision except for like 10 to 20 people. I think the pro disc golf scene is kinda dying
@@paulfritsch672 I think the point is that average top pro golfers make considerably more $ than the average top pro disc golfers. Both sports are tough to master …

with the cost of being on tour being so expensive for some players, the Tour + PDGA need to realize that they should set up the season schedule so that players are not having to spend so much time on the road driving. World Championship is in Europe next year. The tour season should start on the west coast, and gradually make it's way across the country until it reaches the northeast. There should be 3 weeks of playoffs leading up to the World Championship, with a one week break before (Worlds ) World Championship. That event should take place during the middle or end of September. The players would have a 4 month off-season then. If the world championship were being played on the west coast in 2026, then the tour schedule should start on the east coast, and repeat the above scenario only in reverse geographic order of course. If certain popular tour events do not want to change their event date and cooperate then they should find another course to play somewhere else. he said he got a email to play at maple hill an there was no way he was going because he didn't play in the first playoff anyone else that gets that email is on a plane to play but not brodie because he doesn't wasn't to play anymore 😂
I don't know why he was so hyped up when he started and it just seems like every time i see him he is just complaining. Not saying he doesn't have good points, but it's tiresome, especially for someone that doesn't seem to be keeping up. I had no interest in him when he started. I don’t follow him at all but maybe he should stop with this content and just focus on playing the game.
First off. I love how suddenly Brodie is so understanding that life happens, and priorities change when it's him. But still has this animosity towards McBeth when his priorities changed, and he had to leave Foundation. That being said, I do respect his honest answer regarding his future as a player. It's been painfully obvious from the beginning, that he has no passion for the game... As a player. He does, however, have a passion for the game as a spectator, and "analyst"? He definitely loves the sound of his own voice. As well as stirring the pot with his "hot takes". He's good at those things, and it is entertaining. You either watch because you love him, or because you hate him, and want to see what crazy thing he says next. So I think he should just stay in his lane, and be a "controversial" disc golf podcaster. Discraft will still keep him around as long as they keep making money off his name. I'm sure that'll wear thin soon though. But good on him for knowing his station in the sport.
Maybe I am wrong, but I think some of the animosity with Paul leaving Foundation wasnt so much that priorities in life change, I think that everyone gets that, but the fact that it was something that clearly had been floating around in minds for a while to move to FL, and it wasnt brought up when Brodie had made the decision to uproot his life in Texas and move Kelsey and the dogs to Virginia. Yes there was other stuff in that whole thing that doesnt need talking about, but it was the fact that all the Foundation guys were aware and involved in Brodies decision to move to VA and then out of the blue Paul popped the I am leaving to FL on them.
At times it seems like he has more passion for fame and recognition than actual passion for the game. I have seen how he responds when things don't go his way, its not good.
@@Munchylego wow! I never looked at it that way 🤔. I shall never use that expression again! Hence forth I shall shall simply say "stick with what you're good at". You've changed my life! Who needs freedom of speech anyway? Thanks for getting me in touch with my "touchy feelies". 😂🤣
@@WBCHelpSaint I'm sure there's probably more to it . But it seems to have worked out pretty good for Brodie. He seems to have taken control of foundation from Trevor and Hunter.
your mind, heart, and body got to all be on the same page. Burnout is real, part of life and can be fragile with how you combat it. I remember the years of watching vids of all the trick shots from Brodie, his first practice ace (Hawaii), and those earlier years of thinking "Come on Brodie, get into into MPO tournaments, too good not to".
That wouldn't make any sense. They don't care about viewership as much as they care about subscriptions. So many less people are going to subscribe if they can just spend their Sundays watching free on UA-cam
No one cares except the brodie fan boy's...and brodie said himself he barely practiced this off-season but a couple times he was done before the season started...he just wanted to fulfill his contract...hes never been competitive in disc golf so
That's the problem with disc golf pros.. most of them are just coasting off their contracts and not really trying to be a "pro". The entire FPO feels like this. It might be mean yo say but most of these people don't seem like they should be able to make a living off disc golf the way most perform. When half my local players look as good or better than 90% of the FPO field. Idc if it's a guy or girl, I know I(a male) can't go out and 1v1 a WNBA player regardless of them being a women because they are actually good at their sport, even the ones that aren't good enough to start. MPO is much better about this, being actually competitive. But still has a ton of players that just don't seem to care enough.
@MeltinJohn2834 he's a bum...never put in the work to get better and then wants to cry and whine about the sport and all its problems...only reason he even got a contract was because of mcbeth..
That’s never gonna happen but there’s a massive difference between someone who can provide good critiques as an outsider and someone who can effectively run an organisation.
@@leastselfawarepotassium I know it wouldn’t happen. I’m just saying, Brodie isn’t afraid to 1) be wrong or 2) answer questions publicly. The biggest issue I have with the pdga is the inability to come out and answer on controversial topics.

The Dark Douche was selling discs for doing absolutely nothing competition wise.. knowingly never having a chance at wining and it became apparent to him. Then wore a facade for the remainder of the contract until it was up, and now is “retiring”.. LOL 🤡
People will unsubscribe who only like Brodie and Uli the DGPT players. The people who enjoy this channel for the people is who will stick around no matter if your touring or not. Focus on the people who will stick around regardless!
I think the weeks Brodie isn't playing he should have Uli and another pro playing the event run the show. It will be weird if Uli is the only touring pro on "Tour Life". The best part of the pod is them talking about how they played the week before.
Bro. Here’s my $0.02. Focus hard on your game. Jump in with both knees ;) & grow the sport on your local scene but document your journey. I still think there’s a very large group of people (fans) that want to see you succeed / win & believe you can / will. Join a local tour with the goal of playing a few DGPT events.
Whatever Brodie does we’re with him. Do what’s best for you. Tour life always is the best disc golf content podcast. You guys have the best takes bar none
I think Brodie being more focused on content stuff would be better than him just giving up altogether. I think he’s still fun to watch, but ultimately, I don’t think he’s in shape enough or is committed enough to keep up with the direction the tour is going
I like Brodie. He’s done a lot for the sport. That said, there’s disc golfers in my local scene that are better than him. It has to hurt coming from ultimate and thinking this would be easy and realizing that disc golf isn’t easy. It’s not easy. You have to grind. You have to WANT this. He said it himself “I’m not willing to do that”. I wish it had been a true passion for him instead of a fling. Best of luck on your next endeavor.
An NBA player might put in upwards of 5 hours a day into their craft but to say 5-7hours is needed for disc golf (especially as someone who already has a ton of foundational skill) is just disingenuous
It feels like Brodie came in took advantage of the disc golf boom, made a bunch of money from the sport/culture but his heart was never in it. I won’t miss him for a minute.
That’s a dumb take, Brodie was making way more money from sponsorship and deals when he was doing trick shots than he’s ever gotten from disc golf. If it was about money why the hell would he have gone into disc golf? 😂😂
Brodie stop lying and making excuses. It’s very simple, you know you can’t compete at the top level and that’s fine, accept it and move on. Not everyone can be Gannon.
TLDR: Brodie isn’t good enough to compete and doesn’t want to put forth the effort to get better so he’s basically quitting without saying he’s quitting. This isn’t a dig…it’s the truth.
Be a swifty… shake ‘em off….. touring starts with playing locals. Get your game and your rating up. After that let the early signups roll in. As a father of a 5&6 yr old, I relate. The kids will slow down the life, unless you can make the $$ to support 4x bills. There will still be local events to make money and build the “bankroll” to continue the dad golf. I’m lucky to get in-front of the basket for 30min 2-3x a week. I want my kids to get in early so they can be obsessed early but have fun on the way. Welcome to being a family man, you deserve to play, but maybe you don’t end up in the top 10 every weekend …. Also maybe you don’t go every weekend.
Making money off of opening Sports Cards is clearly more important than Disc Golf to you. You've made quite a bit of money off of Disc Golf and you built a strong fan base. Now you're calling it quits for Sports Cards?
It doesn’t but 99% of people with jobs aren’t traveling every single week . So for Uli he has to either leave his wife home by herself when he’s potentially 1000s of miles away. Or try and travel constantly with a little baby. Neither one is exactly ideal.
I think it’s more that when you (probably) have enough money to not work for the rest of your life why would you want to continue grinding on the road when you have kids.
@Chillydall02 It's called being an athlete. Thats part of the reason they are paid so well. Every pro athlete in the world goes on the road. Simon won and then took time away and his play crumbled... Missing a tournament for a birth I get. But missing extended time away from work as a dad blows my mind. Imagine hearing Mahomes will miss 3-4 weeks because he had a kid lol. It's ridiculous
@leastselfawarepotassium You think Uli has enough money for the rest of his life?? He's comfortable now as the Captain of Discraft but when he retires most of that money disappears. He is young....

he said he got a email to play at maple hill an there was no way he was going because he didn't play in the first playoff anyone else that gets that email is on a plane to play but not brodie because he doesn't wasn't to play anymore 😂
I hope we see some more casual brodie rounds, like bodanza/nate turner style if he's on the tour less
Live your best life, whatever it is!❤
I don't know why he was so hyped up when he started and it just seems like every time i see him he is just complaining. Not saying he doesn't have good points, but it's tiresome, especially for someone that doesn't seem to be keeping up. I had no interest in him when he started. I don’t follow him at all but maybe he should stop with this content and just focus on playing the game.
So the comments years ago about brodie doing it a few years and basically quitting are true?
I think the level of play has increased enough that when a player like Gannon gets on a hot streak, he can be even more dominant as Paul once was.
I'd like to see more involvement in foundation videos. Touring isn't the only way to help grow the sport.
No one should ever tell someone to “stay in their lane.”
Alright so Brodie is done trying to compete at the highest level
I’d like to see you guys play Masters. Bring some extra shine on that division and hopefully get it some more coverage.
Well damn, I was hoping to see Brodie make a good run for the older guys, what the crap else is he going to do where us old guys can watch him. lol
Haha I’m still holding on to the delusional hope that Brodie wins on Tour. It was hard in these streets defending Brodie when he first started.
Honestly I would bet disc golf viewership/engagement fall off a bit when the football season starts. I know that’s true for me at least.
The older you get the more you want to just stay home. Especially if you travelled a lot earlier in life. Do you Brodie.
I'm someone who didn't start traveling until 40. It just makes less sense to travel for these tournaments when you aren't cashing 90% of the time.
“That time has past” aka “I know I can’t be competitive”
Passed ... Good try though 😅
@@pdderek whoops, please don’t kill me grammar nazi!
If all else fails, and somehow schedules align, you’re both welcome to join me for a fun round at La Mirada.
Congrats Uli. Go to MVP Brodie.
Open bag Brodie with a focus on content would be fire!
your mind, heart, and body got to all be on the same page. Burnout is real, part of life and can be fragile with how you combat it. I remember the years of watching vids of all the trick shots from Brodie, his first practice ace (Hawaii), and those earlier years of thinking "Come on Brodie, get into into MPO tournaments, too good not to".
brodie 'll be spending a lot of time in some mega churches
Father Time is undefeated majority will still be watching it’s just been a long SZN
Brenda Smith to FPO 2025
Jodie Smith out here crushing drives
Chloe Smith for the win
Brenda Smith and Paulina Ulibarri?
That would be electric
Brody you need to do something about your echo rooms.
Brodie could dominate if he starts getting ready for mp40
Everyone who plays sports will eventually reach their plateau and no one will ever know when they’re currently at their forever best.
Where do ya’ll ask for these questions?
What ever works for you to be happy in life do it.
Brodie is a bum, retire and stop complaining about everything and just play the game.
He doesn't have to or want to... That's why he is telling you this video. UA-cam commenters are brain dead lol
Have the league show last round of every tournament. Period. Viewership dropped like a rock when they changed to 1st round only.
That wouldn't make any sense. They don't care about viewership as much as they care about subscriptions. So many less people are going to subscribe if they can just spend their Sundays watching free on UA-cam
Great answer from Uli at 9:44ish.
60 mph and 800 rpm, must be a forehand, because even at 50 mph, a decent amount of people get about 1000 to 1200 on a backhand.
I’m not going anywhere, brother… Please fucking go
No one cares except the brodie fan boy's...and brodie said himself he barely practiced this off-season but a couple times he was done before the season started...he just wanted to fulfill his contract...hes never been competitive in disc golf so
That's the problem with disc golf pros.. most of them are just coasting off their contracts and not really trying to be a "pro".
If Brodie ran, I’d vote for him to be chairman of the PDGA
That’s never gonna happen but there’s a massive difference between someone who can provide good critiques as an outsider and someone who can effectively run an organisation.
@@leastselfawarepotassium I know it wouldn’t happen. I’m just saying, Brodie isn’t afraid to 1) be wrong or 2) answer questions publicly. The biggest issue I have with the pdga is the inability to come out and answer on controversial topics.
@@Onoitsku agreed on number 2 but Brodie has admitted he’s wrong just as often as the PDGA if you actually go through his catalogue.
I hear ya Brodie follow your heart man . Please 🙏 stay around in some form . Rather it be help the guys at Foundation with content . Peace ✌🏻 will always be a fan
Love Uli to he’s the best
Are there still fools buying Darkhorse discs?
The Dark Douche was selling discs for doing absolutely nothing competition wise.. knowingly never having a chance at wining and it became apparent to him. Then wore a facade for the remainder of the contract until it was up, and now is “retiring”.. LOL
🤡
It wouldn't break my heart if he quit.
I don't remember Tiger not playing when he had kids. Heck he has half a leg and he still walks and plays
Can wait to see the next chapter of bodie smith.
I can see Brodie get really big into his local disc golf league and maybe help run some local events.
Yeah, because that’s the only place he can get top three
He won’t waste his time doing this haha dudes rich
Whatever Brodie does we’re with him. Do what’s best for you. Tour life always is the best disc golf content podcast. You guys have the best takes bar none
I think Brodie being more focused on content stuff would be better than him just giving up altogether. I think he’s still fun to watch, but ultimately, I don’t think he’s in shape enough or is committed enough to keep up with the direction the tour is going
I wonder if disccraft keeps him on as he’s huge for the brand.
Can’t imagine they keep him on the pro team though
Why do people care what others do with their life? Do whatever feels right. Life is short, enjoy it.
You're going want it or not Brodie. People have decided. o7 bro!
Brodie gonna crush MP40 in a few years....
It never felt like Ricky had a chance at GMC
I think you have best commentary channel covering the tour. I could care less if you are touring. Keep up all the great work.
Well said.
@@Chillydall02 I don’t think he started disc golf for the money (obviously) but he wasn’t exactly at his peak popularity when he started playing.
I think that’s an incredibly unfair assessment
In ultimate Brodie was a top 3 player.
But his knee injuries have ended his playing days.
Since when did having a child mean you can't do your job anymore???
@@Kryptic513 Right but when ur making hundreds of millions of dollars like nfl players it’s a lot easier to make that decision.
Brodie- what are the things you want to do right now? I heard the phrase a lot, but didn't get what your other priorities are right now. Thanka
sounded like he said "time with his wife and consideration of starting a family"
Maybe Brodie can apply to be the newest Good Good member. Oh wait..
Adios!!! If disc golf is just a “project” you shouldn’t be here. Uli is old and broke down. On to the Isaac Robinson Show!!
Who would watch that though? Isaac is wet cardboard.
Wow, lot's of hater comments on Brodie. If you don't like him, then why are you even bothering watching any of his content? gtfo You do you Brodie and Uli! Fk the noise, do what you love.
I’m not gonna watch the video, just here to say bye and who cares
Same 👌
Brodie being on Amazing Race is bigger than his disc golf career. Brodie being a UA-cam trick shot master is bigger than his discgolf career. Brodie cracking open $5,000 cases of cards to find a $25,000 card is bigger than not cashing.
what sports brodie gonna try to infiltrate next for two years? typical brodie pattern, just quit all together get paul back involved w foundation instead
I was thinking the same thing. Thats how he got all the exposure was off of Paul's name from the beginning, if I remember correctly.
@@jasonweaselwoods3131 How Brodie got exposure??? Brodie had like 2 million UA-cam followers before he ever picked up a disc. He had his trick shot videos, as well as he is a scratch golfer with his golf videos. Brodie brought more eyes to the sport than any other disc golfer out there.
I believe he could have gotten the sport bigger if he had not had the beef with McBeth. That was Paul’s project.
@@jasonweaselwoods3131 believe it or not, Paul is not popular in the context of sports, the same way disc golf is not popular
AUUUGA! AUUUGA!
“… The ancient Greeks considered discus throw as a test of an individual’s physical abilities and trained extensively to excel in the sport. The training involved rigorous exercise routines, specialized diets, and techniques to perfect their throwing skills. The sport not only served as a means of physical competition but also held cultural and symbolic significance, representing the pursuit of excellence and the celebration of human achievement. …”
I wish I cared. 🤷♂️
A lot of broken, whining, jealous haters in these comments lololol
Brodie is a card collector now .he likes talking about disc golf and disc golf needs that but his playing days are washed
TLDR Brodie is job hunting so he can afford diapers and a babysitter in the future.
