Recorded in New York City in 1950. 'Density 21.5' on May 11 at Rachmaninoff Society; 'Ionisation' on May 21 at Greenwich House Music School; 'Octandre' and 'Intégrales' on June 21 at The Mannes College of Music. The EMS album (401) containing the above selections was first released on October 1st, 1950.
ThIs is not the original music. It has the same picture but these are different performances. The original performance of this music was supervised by Edgard Varese himself. He was in the studio when those other recording were made. These versions are OK. But the other record was better. This version of Ionisation does not compare to the other one supervised by Vareses!!! That version made the hair on my arms stand up. From some reason after listening to the original recording for 20 years, these versions just do not compare. Those who have heard the original recordings of these songs supervised by Varese know what I mean. His supervision of the recordings gave them an intensity that these lack.
it would be great to hear them...i'm assuming they are not on youtube? or if so do you know of any links? i would be very much interested in hearing them.
@@chuckthebull Yes I did find those recordings. Type in Octandre Frederic Waldman NY Wind Ensemble. They're all in Mono but you will hear how intense it is compared to the later recordings.
Zappa: ... wanted to be Avant guard. Then a cult of lost drank the whine . In reality: The king has no clothes! The king has no clothes! This is not the same! this is emotional coordination of thought. Not intent to sound like it and then try to sell you...
...your index finger may'of had a relationship with Frank....& You didn't find out'about it...?..like the boyfriends of some of group'ees he slept with...?... I'd break-up with that index'finger...?..your comment was great...
I am sure Frank Zappas brain was upside down and backwards in his skull. I do like a dozen of his albums. Zoot Allures is my favorite album. Frank said he hated Zoot Allures and only did it to fulfil a record contract. He owed the company 1 more album. Yes I like a dozen of Zappas albums, but there are many more that I can't even listen to. Before his death Frank was asked how he would like to be remembered. He said he didn't care. Some of Edgard's music is okay. Some of it, I can't stand.
I can hear, feel, and see why the young FZ fell in love with this sound. Great stuff!
Frank Zappa brought me here and thank you . love this

I suddenly realized that Connections by James Burke used "Integrales" in its first episode, when all hell broke loose in NYC during the 1965 blackout.

Wondering what genius decides to put ads in the middle of a piece instead of the end or beginning???!!!
uBlock Origin puts a stop to that. I use it as a Chrome extension and never see ads on YT.
Or pay for ads free ?
Check out Bruno maderna, another one of zappa mentors...great stuff...killer driving to it....
