I used to do her makeup for photo shoots and a time or two for runway shows for Oscar de la Renta when she was married to Russell. Their home was covered in photos and paintings of her. She commissioned an artist to paint her daughter's room in scenarios from Disney princess stories. So it was Kimora as Snow White. Kimora as Cinderella. And so on. Covering the entire wall. She was always nice to me, even at times when Russell was rude she'd speak up and tell him to stop it.

Why in the world she married Russell is beyond me. He’s a pompous ass and very rude. Saw him in an elevator when they lived across the WTC in New York. He made a face and was angry regular folks were in the elevator too. He apparently took the wrong elevator which led to his penthouse. So he kicked boxes he held out the elevator like a child.

That's the only way to make it in the industry. She had papers before she met Russell [who's self-made$], but when he teamed up with her modeling their line along with the kids on the runway, both of them cashed in big. *Between her [a mulit-millionaire] and her multi-millionaire ex-husband, her kids don't need or want for anything. YES that is the dark secret of the fashion world. ( Fashion is not the reason why they want them so young)
They are all groomed for this. The reason they are with millionaires, rock stars, athletes , Prince Andres is because THOSE MEN are at those parties.
Fashion season Winter/ Spring collection Rest of the year ho'ing and i dont mean Santa Claus
if you listen to hear carefully she laids out what goes on; because i think she does understand how dark that world really is.
She just listen to her mom ; to stay away from it. Modeling agencies know the PARENTS cannot chaperone; and if you are from Paris; you live in NYC at 13.
if you are from NYC you are moved to Paris at 13. ✈ Its rare you stay in your hometown.

I was never really struck by her, but I guess that’s because I live in Seattle, where 1/10 of blacks have identifiable API bloodlines, 1/4 are biracial B-W, and 1 in 3 are 20% Native American or more. The Afro-Hispanic/Afro-Latino community isn’t as prominent as it is in the South, NY, Chicago, or Cali, but it’s growing fast.
The black population in Seattle is full of diversity…so-called “exotics.”
Btw, all blacks are exotic by definition.

Kimora was throwing cap. “They were jealous because they didn’t ‘understand’ what I did.”
Nah, they understood perfectly what she did, and that’s why they were jealous. They wanted to do what she was doing and to have what she had.
I know she wanted to sound humble, but she knew it was every high school girl’s dream to be a big-time model, and here she was, living that dream, and they had to look at her every day knowing it.
I’ll bet half the girls in that school tried to go to local modeling agencies when they saw that she was modeling and got rejected! I’m sure that really angered them.
    Too short
    Not photogenic
    Too commercial
    Not commercial enough
    Not the right weight
    Pretty but not striking
    Too common (type)
    Not unique enough
    Bad skin
    Bad hair
    Bad posture
    Not telegenic
    Bow legged/slew-footed
I’ve worked in the industry, so I know what I’m talking about. I watched a lot of people get their feelings hurt trying to get into fashion and commercial.

@@jdfodio : You took my hyperbole too literally. It’s not literally EVERY teen boy’s dream to be a rock star, rap star, actor, or athlete, but how many of them would turn down those professions if they thought they had a realistic shot?
It’s not literally EVERY girl’s dream to be a model, but how many of them would decline an opportunity if given? Even the girls who don’t dream of being models would go for it. There are top models right now who hadn’t given a thought to modeling before they were scouted, but they didn’t turn down the opportunity, did they?
How many young girls would turn down the opportunity to be models?
      Keep it a buck!
Most people would not work 9-5 if they had the opportunity to do other things. Maybe they would still go to college but they wouldn’t turn down those dream opportunities. Every year, you have delivery drivers, baristas, etc., who are granted NFL tryouts, and they take those opportunities.
I studied theater in college, modeled and did a few luxury brand commercials (sunglasses, teeth whitener, etc.).
Many of my former classmates and roommates are in L.A. and NY pursuing their entertainment and fashion goals. Some of them have starred in movies and on network television shows (hint: I live in Seattle).
The Passion of the Christ - Jim Caviezel
The Next Karate Kid - Hillary Swank
      Scandal - Darby Stanchfield
      ER - Sandra Oh
      Crash - Brendan Frazier
I also had an interest in science and tech, so I pursued graduate studies.
I like the entertainment industry but I also like other things. If Steven Spielberg offers me the role of a lifetime, I’m there without hesitation! I’m sure I’m not alone. That’s my point. Acting and modeling were my dreams, but it wasn’t my passion or my ultimate goal. I really fell into it.
At barely 5’11, I didn’t really have the height to be a top male model, so my work was limited. I did okay locally as a print model, but I wasn’t getting runway work.
