Really saddens me we lost Harry Home steam railfans of Canada and North America and the world over owe this man a big heart felt thank you for Preserving Steam and Canadian Steam and Canadian National 6060 she will always be his locomotive and i hope she will be around for more years to come and to inspire future generations like it did to Harry to keep her and other steam locomotives like her for the next generations to come. This is indeed one of the best films dedicated to him and the 6060.
Jeff Black loved Harry since he was two. Harry was his mentor and part of his family. He was three when he filmed the documentary with Harry and the CBC. He has followed Harry and the 6060 ever since and happy to raise a glass of scotch to Harry and the 6060
I had the honour of riding on 6060 back when I was a child in the 70’s! It was a short tour from Toronto to Niagara. It’s still one of my favourite memories! The opening of this documentary with the little kid was just like me! We lived right by a track that lead to a junction in Malton. I would always sit on the other side of the ditch, and watch the trains go by... 😌
I have had the pleasure of meeting Harry many years ago and has been a big part of our rail life. We were there in Jasper for the amazing retirement party. Was really something. My family and I were volunteers for many years at Alberta Railway Museum. I have also had the great pleasure of riding in the cab many times.
Nice video, done by Shaw Cable, for a network TV presentation. Although I never talked to Mr. Home (because of not being a diehard former), I rode behind the 6060 on many trips out of Montreal, and later out of Toronto, in the 70s and 80s, then a couple of times out of Stettler, when I photographed her before Consolidation AP 41 arrived, to lead the Alberta Prairie excursion trips. Most of the time, I surmised that Mr. Home was at the throttle of his beloved machine. Regretfully, in another video, I should have included a couple of photos I took, of the late, great man in bib overalls, oiling his machine.
Of course, that should be “foamer”, blame the spellcheck. For those who don’t know about foamers; let me describe it as “Andy”, in another video, whom I saw gathering grease from a 6060 piston while she was stopped, and smearing the grease over his face.
This Is Great Watching Harry Home & The CN #6060 😊😊😊 🚂🚂🚂 This Is a Very Special Steam With The Grand Parade Of The Glory Machines Canada Steam Expo 86 😊😊😊 🚂🚂🚂
I was on the 6060 in 1976 when I was 5 yrs old in Peterborough, Ontario...fond memories.
Rest in Peace Harry Home

I was Lucky enough to go on two 6060 excursions in 77 and 78 from Mtl to Ottawa. So awesome
I'm happy to hear that 6060 is currently going under a rebuild
May He Rest In Peace
RIP Harry
Thank you very much for uploading this! I remember watching this a long time ago!

24:27 The Greatest Welcome you could ever appreciate when arriving at a convention
thank you iv been looking all over for this for a long time
This is a great story, honest to pin point accuracy regarding love of steam locomotives. Diesels are a disappointment.
H God!!! If somebody could re-master both parts...how cool would that be?
0:19 Harry hears a chuffing nosie. So he runs towards and watch a Canadian National U-1-F 4-8-2 Mountain Locomotive #6060 roll by with her train.
okay Captain Obvious.
that one whistle kind of sounds like Steve's whistle
I thought this was deleted off UA-cam.
cn needs to allow steam again.
