@@humane143imperfection6 If you wanted a single screen version of the Zephyrus Duo SE then literally look no further than the Strix Scar (15" or 17" depending on your preference). Most content creators and gamers buying this should have a separate HD Webcam. I thought I'd be worried about it but it's not even a problem at all. I'm a web developer so I code a lot and having the terminal or debugging interface on the second screen is so nice to have. Also since the second screen has pen support you can draw/take notes/draw on whiteboards during work meetings with a pen (I've got a Wacom Bamboo Ink and Surface Pen. Both work great!) I also play games mainly League of Legends and Apex Legends. Overwolf has apps for both games. I mainly use Blitz for League of Legends. You need another camera to not compromise between display and camera angles, quality comes after that. Some might want a 4k machine to be able to say hi without having to fiddle around with yet another device, though.
Performance and creative uses for it are interesting. But oof, that price bracket and it’s not a 17” model? Kinda hard to recommend over just buying a cheaper laptop with similar specs and a proper second monitor lol.
There's isn't a laptop at Leat in that price range with ryzen 9/3080 rtx /32gb ram/ a FHD with 300 hz monitor or 4 k with 120 hz refresh rate . If you want a 300 refresh on a laptop you either have to pay much for lower spec like core I 7 and 3060 or lower ram like 16 gb
10:14 if you want to take care of your health you should always put the laptop on a stand (so that it's at the proper eye level) and use separate mouse and keyboard. The integrated "mouse" and keyboard should be used only on the go but not for long working or gaming period
Nice review. I'm digging mine and actually like that it doesn't have a camera. The two wonky things about the KB I'm not digging is the numbers on the F-keys aren't illuminated (only the icons) and my arrow keys don't work properly; instead of moving a single character, it jumps to the beginning or end, top or bottom in one giant leap. Other than that this thing is so ono.
There's a zenbook pro duo with a 3070??? Edit: that does indeed exist! The 4k oled and smaller bezels would've been nice but the fact its intel makes me happy with my Duo SE (purely for battery life reasons, none of that multicore stuff)
i ordered the 3070 version. Microsoft had it for $300 off. So at that price I felt it was worthwhile. I can't wait!!! Were your testing compared to other laptops with in dedicated GPU mode or Optimus? That makes a big difference
Adoroma allowed me to order one weeks ago. Then they contacted me and said it was on backorder. I needed a laptop for an upcoming trip so I settled for the new Asus rog strix scar 15 with qhd display, ryzen 5900, rtx 3080, 32 gb of ram and 1 tb storage. Went ahead and upgraded it to 64 gb ram another 1 tb ssd and added a loupdeck CT to compensate for everything I was missing out of with not being able to get the zephyrus duo. This was laptop I wanted for months, guess it wasn't mean to be. I can't wait to see what the next few years hold for this model from asus.
got this laptop last week and i cannot even play a youtube video sometimes on the internal laptop if i have both the displays on! I have a 5k monitor connected VIA HDMI, i cannot even play GTA5 on low settings, similar issues with video playback and especially if I connect a Bluetooth headset, its done! HELLLPPPP!!! 🙌🙌
Two things I don't like about this machine is the lack of webcam and the performance of the large screen. I think it could have a smaller "chin" to look at the screens as if they were just only one huge screen. Like the design of Zenbook Pro Duo. And I think they should in build the webcam to the secondary screen and make it a bit more movable. It would be PERFECT!!! I would definitely buy one and expand it's memory to 8tb-s or 16 tb-s. The next models will be even better quality design and I hope they will make a 17 inch design....A perfect machine ❤️
Very cool looking laptop and features. I personally bought the Asus Rog Zephyrus G15 with a 3070, but part of me almost wishes I got this instead. I am going to be doing a lot of video editing next spring. Having said that though I don't think the price tag makes a second screen worth it.
I’ve been using an upgraded 2011 Mack book pro for a while now and the battery when unplugged never passed more then 5 minutes so on the battery tests I thought 1:30 was 1 minute and 30 seconds not hours!
Seems a hefty premium for that extra display, $2900, and we end up with a cramped keyboard and a poor trackpad (left-handers!!!), which are deal-breakers for me, keyboard and trackpad comfort is essential. I am probably not a person to review this as I would never use a second display, I prefer to concentrate on one app at a time. Seems a gimmick for many but I am sure some would buy as it is different, but I am not sure they will be more productive. Too expensive, too gimmicky and really a niche product.
Mouse pad is fine, i find it better than middle pads, if you put your hands on you lap, that is where the pad is, could be bigger but when clicking and draging it autosilds once you get to the edge. , power cord could be better spot. cinebench 14200. Not taking mine back
One important part has been left out: the RTX3080, is it the 8 or 16GB version? Because you were talking about productivity etc and 8 vs 16GB of VRam makes a hell of a difference, especially for 3D rendering. 😉
Looks like a beast. I have the asus duo screen i9 which is also a best but with a second flat screen and not tilted. My way around this was to buy a laptop stand and slant it at quite a vertical angle, which works really well. Obviously if it's on your lap, this would be harder but works for me :)
I’d say not having a webcam now that we are in post covid is annoying. I’m hoping they throw in a camera module in the future but I don’t think it’s a deal breaker given what other laptop is giving you a dual screen of 4K 120hz
In my experience with ASUS... Just buy anything that is not ASUS. Even worse if you are thinking on getting this generic model. Every 2 weeks asus releases new model of it. No real warranty, no nothing. Just buy anything that is not Asus and it will Last longer and work better.
Actually, the trackpad is not that bad if you do coding on your machine and occasionally using a cursor. The trackpad position even better than the regular one. To switch to the mouse from typing you just need to slightly move your wrist from the wrist-rest, when with a traditional laptop you need to move a whole arm just to reach a trackpad or mouse.
I got mine a few days ago. Asus did a clever thing were the packaging for the power brick doubles as a laptop stand (instruction on how to do this is on the box) So now as I'm typing this. the two screens are in perfect orientation !
There are plenty in Switzerland. I sadly got throttling issues (400mhz throttling in multiscreen with video playback and light gaming) and had to return it. Not sure if Asus has full checked the performance for AMD Chips in the Duo. It may be the reason for VR to lag as well, although the specs are more than enough.
I have been spending the last 4 days looking up laptops for some gaming and video editing (from my gopro not gaming) after looking up a bunch of different laptops it came between razer 15 and this one. Because of the heating issue and some other reasons I decided to go with this laptop an now I canyvwqit for it to come in

2 to 3 years before omen also launched a laptop named omen 15x 2s with a double screen but the secondry screen was smaller than the main screen, same like zephyrus duo.

Love to see how cheap laptop are with US price, the same laptop here in france cost around 5500$
no doubt this is Awesome machine, but your footage is outclass, excellent lighting outstanding production keep it up bro...
May I ask what camera did you use to capture this? Looks stunning.
Bought it from the Microsoft store about a month ago and it's worth every penny.
Watching this review even though I can't afford it. Satisfaction guaranteed lol
got this laptop last week and i cannot even play a youtube video sometimes on the internal laptop if i have both the displays on!
I'd love for a taller aspect ratio, so there's less bezel in between the two screens, but thats just me
Now this is a Laptop!!! Pure fire with that second screen
I’ve been using an upgraded 2011 Mack book pro for a while now and the battery when unplugged never passed more then 5 minutes so on the battery tests I thought 1:30 was 1 minute and 30 seconds not hours!
18:30 I think that's a problem with the utilization of Nvidia's Ampere architecture at lower resolutions
Could you get the Aorus 15P @1th gen with 130W 3080 in the studio
Can you close the second screen if you don’t want it up or is it always up?
Available for purchase 2023
Mine is coming next week, I can't wait. I found it in the range of price BTW. Thank you for the review
Where did you get it from and how long did you have to wait?
Seems a hefty premium for that extra display, $2900, and we end up with a cramped keyboard and a poor trackpad (left-handers!!!), which are deal-breakers for me, keyboard and trackpad comfort is essential.
I am probably not a person to review this as I would never use a second display, I prefer to concentrate on one app at a time. Seems a gimmick for many but I am sure some would buy as it is different, but I am not sure they will be more productive. Too expensive, too gimmicky and really a niche product.
I wasn’t interested in this laptop but this guy made one real nice video that I just enjoyed watching. Very nice.
Mouse pad is fine, i find it better than middle pads, if you put your hands on you lap, that is where the pad is, could be bigger but when clicking and draging it autosilds once you get to the edge. , power cord could be better spot. cinebench 14200. Not taking mine back
This is the best review of the Asus Zephyrus I've seen. Thank you for this video
No camera is great for security, no longer will I have to worry about someone watching me! It's not a drawback it's another Big Feature!
Yeah cause its not like you can cover your webcam or anything like that hey! Great point.
@@eballan319 exactly, It's not easy covering up a webcam. no webcam is the next best thing!
Great creative design, but IMO nothing beats the look of Razer laptops. Other manufacturers should catch on.
Is that the ikea chair? How are you liking it?
One important part has been left out: the RTX3080, is it the 8 or 16GB version?
Because you were talking about productivity etc and 8 vs 16GB of VRam makes a hell of a difference, especially for 3D rendering. 😉
16 of course :)
Looks like a beast. I have the asus duo screen i9 which is also a best but with a second flat screen and not tilted. My way around this was to buy a laptop stand and slant it at quite a vertical angle, which works really well. Obviously if it's on your lap, this would be harder but works for me :)
Looking for top of the line gaming laptop. Don't need a second screen just top tier gaming for a few years any suggestions?
I’d say not having a webcam now that we are in post covid is annoying. I’m hoping they throw in a camera module in the future but I don’t think it’s a deal breaker given what other laptop is giving you a dual screen of 4K 120hz
I think if it were bezeless at the bottom it would make the 2nd screen that much more useful.
Missing webcam wouldn't be that much of an issue for me, BUT we're in this stupid Covid situation.....sooo.....
In my experience with ASUS... Just buy anything that is not ASUS. Even worse if you are thinking on getting this generic model. Every 2 weeks asus releases new model of it. No real warranty, no nothing. Just buy anything that is not Asus and it will Last longer and work better.
I actually like the keyboard placement. I almost never use trackpads and reaching over them is awkward ergonomically.
What about video editing though? Surely the ROG DUO Intel i9 with the 2070 is better?
I m watching this review on my Asus Duo se 15 3070 version and i love it
Sir, you have a very pleasant voice, and intriguing presentation Mr. Professor! :D God Bless.
Where can i find that wallpaper 🥺
No feedback on the speakers/audio?!
They sound really good. I had to eliminate that portion due to how long the video was lol
@@eber.antony I appreciate the response!
We need more Ryzen and 3080 laptop combos! Razer needs to get on board.
as cool as it is in the long run i think it will be bad for your neck always looking down at the 2nd screen when you wouldn't have to normally
What watch do you have?
seems to be the fossil collider hybrid smartwatch
That is the finest laptop I've ever seen, a laptop stand would be perfect
I got mine a few days ago. Asus did a clever thing were the packaging for the power brick doubles as a laptop stand (instruction on how to do this is on the box) So now as I'm typing this. the two screens are in perfect orientation !
@@DSt3alth NICE !!
But you can't use that on your lap xD
I would imagine all these features make it extremely expensive
There are plenty in Switzerland. I sadly got throttling issues (400mhz throttling in multiscreen with video playback and light gaming) and had to return it. Not sure if Asus has full checked the performance for AMD Chips in the Duo. It may be the reason for VR to lag as well, although the specs are more than enough.
Although I can totally ditch the webcam but 15” screen isn’t enough.
i badly need links to your pokemon wallpapers!
I have been spending the last 4 days looking up laptops for some gaming and video editing (from my gopro not gaming) after looking up a bunch of different laptops it came between razer 15 and this one. Because of the heating issue and some other reasons I decided to go with this laptop an now I canyvwqit for it to come in
Heyy Eber!
Good video man .. but I have a question, I've seen some reviews on the lenovo legion 5 pro and was wondering when will your review come out? if there will be.
2 to 3 years before omen also launched a laptop named omen 15x 2s with a double screen but the secondry screen was smaller than the main screen, same like zephyrus duo.
Wait... So this laptop is out, it's just sold out from everywhere. That's really good, but I swear I've been keeping tabs on this thing since January and I could not find a release date for the life of me. Still, if it is out, then that's some good news.
It looks to be pretty niche, and with the price and availability of components i wouldnt be surprised if they intentionally only made a few to test the market :D
I strongly believe that there were literally 10 units in the whole of the UK, as my one was faulty and they now have to wait for more to be imported
If they have say anything about this one during the CES, I would have waited. I just got my ZenBook DUO for a few months.
This suck
Wait, no webcam?
Thanks for the view of this un-obtanium vapor. No seriously E you did a great review. I like the machine just too bad i am not holding my breath for getting one. Keep up the good work there guys.
I thought this thing has thunderbolt 3 support, yet places I see it, then some I don’t so what do I believe?
Please someone get back to me!!
Soldered ram, no Webcam, minimal ports for $4000? No thanks
is there a life span for the second screen? like does it burn out or anything like that?
