it's a pet peeve of mine if you're going to be a presenter, especially of information, and you get thing wrongs . and the fact that they didn't catch their mistake during their editing, or didn't bother correcting it, shows a lack of due diligence

I think you'll find these speeds to be reported in bits, not bytes. Bits is data rate, Bytes is data amount. A Byte = 8 Bits. They are both metrics for data volume, but are used for different functions.

Data transmission is obviously limited by the speed of light. The shorter the distance between the two connections the quicker it is. Satellite is too great a distance and therefore slower. But ideal for rural or regional services where getting a single land line to an isolated user is impractical.
