ANOTHER FINANCIAL HIT - Van Life Tierra del Fuego, Argentina (Fin del Mundo)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- We have driven our van all the way to Tierra del Fuego here in Argentina, hooray, but we make a bummer discovery and it doesn't come without a hefty price tag, as the price of van life traveling Patagonia mounts up. In this instance, we don't have any other option than to spend the money. Fortunately, our bad news was offset by a happy surprise with other travelers...
Thank you for all the kind support!

That is my brother and sis in law!! They are awesome, for sure!
There is Pacha and Nica! Two of the sweetest dogs ever.
They are awesome!!
Keep going ❤
@@antforce6233 i actually flew spare car parts to Mike and Geneva two years ago when they were in Brazil!
Wow, you kids certainly packed a lot in during those 1,000 miles 😱 I have to say Snow, you and Curt have the most incredible attitudes when bad things happen. Your positive outlook is awesome! How neat to finally catch up with fellow vanlifers. Not having video or photos to share confirms what an amazing time you were having. Looking forward to Saturday's video drop, hopefully it will have stopped snowing here by then. Here's to all your tires staying in peak driving condition until you reach the next continent 🤞Safe travels, 🤗🇨🇦
Watching the animals( not sure the name) frolicking in the water. And I was laughing at the one who pushed the other one in the water. Lolol just like kids.... thank you for the great video ❤
Us too!! It was hilarious! They are called guanacos
Wow! Lots of miles in a week. Yup need good tires. So good to see you back on the road and happy, happy 🤗 Lots of love sent your way and Angels all around you and your fur babies and home on wheels..🙏💖 from 🌶️🌵N.M.
That was a really super film of the frolicking animals, thank you so much.🏴🇬🇧
Had a chuckle myself🤣
Better to be safe on the road💚
Thousand isn't that bad for four tires these days. Gotta get that spare! Love you guys, thanks for the video
Snow you have the twinkle back in your Yes! You are recovering Well! Thanks for all the adventures you share with us all.
I was just going to comment the same thing and I saw your post! I totally agree!
Glad you guys are safer with new tires! There is no price tag on safety. That doesn’t mean paying isn’t painful! Pretty cool how quickly the scenery changed.
Snow, on a side note a friends husband just had a heart attack and two stints. I told them about you and how strong you have been in making the changes necessary for good health. Just wanted to say I hold you up as an example of the right way to look at this and going forward. You are an excellent example. They would like to travel when he recovers so I directed them to your channel.
Oh No! I sure hope he recovers well... it is a tough road... physically, but also mentally! Please let him know he is not alone!!
$1000 for 4 tires? That's not too bad. I'm going to replace my van's 4 tires this year and I'm planning on it costing nearly $1200 for Michelins. So glad that you spotted that bad tire in a place where it could be replaced... that was a blessing for sure!
👍🙏🤩💝I’m so happy Snow is looking strong, healthy & glowing. 🙏 Curt’s foot seems to be better, he’s smiling & seems happier too. Sorry you guys had the expensive hit with the tires. The couple you guys met seemed so nice. 🤩
I always love seeing the animals. Your editing and music is always awesome. Wishing you guys safe travels.🙏💝
Hello friends. Nice that you're in summer weather. Snowing here in Colorado...can't wait for spring!!
It's always a blessing to catch the tire issue b4 it blows and takes out part of the rig.
Yes it is? So thankful I glanced down and saw the chunk!
We took a hit too, and had to replace the engine and catalytic converter, and the year before that we had to replace both winter and summer tires. Car stuff is unreal! You are safer now, and with all the mileage you put on that van I am not surprised. I love the kitties when they are on the walks, Vanna's tail so swishy and happy!
Ouch! It always seems to all happen at one time!
Love the “ No todo el que vaga está perdido” (Not all that wanders is lost).
I love your travels and life as it is. And I’m learning about S. America in a whole new way. Delightful! 🙏🏻
Sorry to hear about your tire situation. We are full time RVers and have a Class A gas motorhome. It seems like everything is going along fine and then we have several things that need repaired. My husband is very handy and we rarely have to take it into service department. Snow, you look like you are doing better, stay well. Safe travels!!😊❤️
It definitely seems to all hit at once 🤣
I'm a day late but this was the first thing that popped up on my videos. Love every second. Thank you so much.
I love how you mention and we all hear about Argentina's crazy, runaway inflation & everything is much cheaper than in California. You are so good at capturing the landscape & lay of the land. I went via boat to Ushuaia & stopped at the Falklands where the land was barren like that but with lots of bays & inlets. I never thought about why there were tons of trees in Ushuaia.
It's good to put the camera down every once in a while to enjoy the moment.
I'm in love with their corner sink.
They've got really good use of space in their rig for sure!
Good Morning Curt and Snow. I wish for the rest of your days and weeks to be better. Be safe y’all and the kitties.
Thank you 😊
Vanna walking in that wind was great! Sorry about the tires.
Very nice on the walk Snow!! That’s awesome ❤️
Beautiful love the dash cam. I've always dreamed of traveling in a van maybe one day as us Spanish folks say "Si Dios quere " If God wants it..."
That was a lot of money for tires & fuel. Nice to spend time with fellow over landers from USA. Stay safe & good health to you both.😊❤
Those new tires and $3 gallon is a steal Curt .. cant complain after saving tens of thousands$ on surgery.🙂
Hari Om
Home maintenance cannot be escaped! Am glad you managed to find something with which you were prepared to compromise and can drive all 'fresh' again... and what a great meet up to have at the end of the world. Am getting excited for this next episode... YAM xx
Yes, you are right!
Love your videos. Have a great one💃💃💃🐾🐾🐾🐾
Thank you! You too!
I just bought 6 new Michelin's to replace the factory Continental's that only had 39k on them. Plenty of tread but lack of alignment after build-out caused uneven wear and cupping.
The Michelin's have a much stronger sidewall. Lily sits better and rides better now. Tires about $1800. Mounting, alignment, taxes and fees, about $300. Safety and the best for my girl, priceless.
This type of architecture in Rio Grande is to save energy since heat dissipation is better controlled because only the walls that have contact with the outside have thermal insulation.
Makes sense! 😁
That is great you met the other traveling couple. They were kind and shared so much. You guys did a lot of driving too. I know you were not ready to get tires, but I am glad that you were able to get them to stay focused on your journey. Thank you for sharing.
Would be curious on how many miles are on your van. Your videos are awesome. Thank you so much for sharing your journey.
As a body & mechanical shop owner that has sold tires, the difference in 215/85 to a 215/80 isn’t the big deal that you may think it is in most cases it’s 100% fine, especially if you’re changing both sides of the duals. Many vehicles come with different sized front tires from the back tires from the factory, it’s not a big deal, you may have a slightly different speed showing on your speedometer but that can be figured out fairly easily and adjusted for with your GPS. So this really isn’t something you need to worry about, $1000 isn’t a crazy amount for 4 new tires w/ a proper weight rating for the van which is actually more to be worried about. Hopefully you kept the best tire out of the 4 replaced ones for a decent spare tire to mount on a new or used wheel when you do find one. Happy and Safe Travels, keeping you both in our prayers!
😊😊😊😊
another great adventure by two passionate nature lovers ..huggs from Canada
Thank you so much 😊
Good morning! I’ve been to Ushuaia! Was a port on the so American cruise I took. That was quite a wonderful trip! You kids have fun!
Glad to see you were able to get tires when you needed to and now that’s behind you. Also, sure was great to be able to meet up with friends and at the end of the world to boot! Wonders never cease! Blessings to you!
My spouse and I would put a block of ice in our cooler and it would last a week camping in the National parks in Ca❤️
I'm so sorry about your tire situation in the US we have issues also finding certain products, after COVID things are not the same. Vanna was giving you quite a workout Snow lol. Thank you for the upload keeping you, Curt and your fur babies in my prayers for safe travels. ♥️♥️
So glad to see you finally got new tires all the way around! Even if they weren't the best fit, it's still better than what you had. Many more miles ahead! Luv U Guys
Wow! Look at those motorcycles with the trailers.
Snow , I was thinking you look good and did a lot of walking🎉🎊🎉🎊🙋♀️
Yay, for new tires. We got some, in Oct., before we drove to Tampa for a cruise. Made me feel much safer.
❤❤❤❤
😁😁😁 how was the cruise??
@@SnowAndCurt great! We're going again in March.
@Snow & Curt it was good! It rained in Grand Cayman, so we didn't get off the ship. But I got to swim BY MYSELF in the adults only pool. MY HEAVEN!
Very interesting! Thanks 👍. Love the music too!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great meeting people from the states and seeing their home on wheels. Glad you got new tires and looking forward to Saturdays video. Be safe!!
It's always nice to make new friends on the road!
When you said the cats were checked in my mind went to customs having to give the cats a pat down to make sure they were not smuggling in cat nip lol 😅 3:07
Ha!!! G would totally be a smuggler 😻🤣😻🤣
What an adventure...
Love it. Thank you for sharing... Snow, I hope your feeling good. 🙋♀️✌️
Good luck guys, I am following you since you were in Central America. To your comfort, if any, I just got 4 new tires for my car and I paid 1.1k dollars in Costco. Have a great trip at the end of the world (or the begining of it, it depends on the point of view).
$1000 for those tires is nothing compared to, what you would have had to pay in some small town in Alaska or the Yukon, you forget this is not a big town, they probably were shipped from Buenos Aires and that costs a lot of money in shipping alone. Argentina produced most things, but like everything nowadays most tires are made in China unfortunately.
Another great video! Thank you both for sharing your adventures with us! 🩷
Hey, I just paid 1000 with my Honda dealer for 4 new tires. I guess things are pricey everywhere.
I love the nature scenes of the guanacos running free. WHAT A TREAT! But above all noticed your travel friends, Geneva and Mike, have a bumber sticker in their kitchen pantry of the Belize Zoo. When Curt pulled open the pantry door, I saw it. Belize is my childhood country so it was nice to see it.
Great RV build
I bet after that slide off into the mud and getting free from it, your van really needed that deep clean. I'm also thinking that the big chunk of tire missing came from that effort. Things happen and I'm really sorry it was such a terrible expense, but now you have a clean and safe home again and I'm glad they were able to get four matching tires for you. That was super nice that you got to have a meetup with that couple. Their rig setup was pretty cool. I can't wait till the long summer days of daylight till 10:30 - 11:00 return to Montana. I get so spoiled to the light and the heat. We had a blizzard yesterday and to be followed by subzero temps again for three days. So watching your video was a beautiful reminder . Funny thing is you have wind and so do we! And congratulations on the walking distance and speed!!!🏆
A beautiful expensive video. I am happy you got to spend time with another couple traveling like you.
Better to be safe! I know my spouse would agree. Toy did ggod👍🙏i’m glad you have each other
At least you are able to get tires of some kind, so you have that to be grateful for....SAFE TRAVELS
Snow, you do amazing! You might want to consider having a small, foldable wheel chair for a some of the required walk ups.... It could strap on the front or back.... Or at least a portable oxygen option. Tanks are difficult and heavy. And portable oxygen generator units are expensive but very helpful in making it from point a to b without being so weary. Take care! Glad you found tires.
Thanks for the tips!
Your ride will be good and I bet they are happy for the business. I’m sorry someone stole your tire and you new since it was under your van
Wooo, a $1,500 hit in one day. Grace of God that you actually have it. I'm grateful to have finally signed up as a Patreon supporter, but if I had some cash right now, I'd be sending it. How nice to meet friendly folks along the road, and those gunacos? at the end are sooo precious. What a life. ... perseverance furthers - to the end of the worrrrrld :) 😺💜
You are too kind! We will manage the budget.... Thankfully, we were already planning on tires around May. 😊
I bet you really enjoyed that van wash and clean inside and out! I know I sure do and my little car is due a clean.
Feels brand new😁😁
Don't buy tires in Argentina please. The high prices aren't the result of inflation per se but mainly because there's scarcity caused by import restrictions. The prices are up to 4 times more than in Chile and other neighbouring countries.
Until you travel, you don't think of limitations on items. You had an interesting trip from boarder to boarder. You 2 were so fortunate to meet up with the other couple. Can't wait till next video.
I miss those late day, nearly night sunsets! :)
Make sure ALL front tires are the same size. Least issue with front mismatched is that larger will wear quicker than the smaller unless only width is different
Hey! Watching flat on my back with horrendous sciatica craziness!
Brian had that for 2 Weeks. On the road to recovery. Hope you're feeling better soon.
I have had that. Sorry.
Yeah have been suffering the same recently too, I feel for you ❤️
Oh no!!! Hope you get better soon.... Back/nerve pain is the worst!
I hope you're back up on your feet again soon. Nothing worst then nerve pain! 🤗🇨🇦
I ain't mad at ya' though we come here to watch your lives, it's good for you all to have moments where you're living in the moment without worrying about camera work.
Yep!! 😊😊😊
Kurt you need to chill on the burnouts bud!!! I know driving things with power like the van just makes it hard to not be bad sometimes, just try to keep it under control. Looking good Snow!!! Stay healthy dear…❤
I'm sending good vibes your way! The impact to your budget, I pray, will be made up very soon. Love your content and attitude. Much love?
You're the best!
You don't have to share everything! You deserve some time with new friends!!
Sometimes we do like to put the camera down 😊
Hello wonderful couple. I love your trips thank you for leaving a caption and we can choose the language 🇧🇷
Love the video guys and you both look really good especially you Snow. Stay safe good travels.
May be you to change to most popular types size that are easy to find and have a safe journey
Vanna showing G who's the real bad ass Kitty braving that wind alone lol
That sounds like the luck we used to have. “When it rains, it pours,” and you have had a couple of torrential downpours! I sure hope it slows down for you. I will pray for you. Know many of us will do the same. My friends, stay safe. Laters😊
Blessings!! You give us hope!
Don’t feel bad about the price of the tires…I ordered new tires for my truck and they will cost over 1200 dollars here in the states!!
So glad you managed to figure out the tire situation. I don't think k the price was much higher then here in Michigan. We had to put four 15 inch tires on our rig and paid about the same you paid. You two are looking so good and Snow that 1.8 miles is something to be proud of!
Inflation affects the price for Argentines who use the local currency, the price in dollars does not change, therefore it would not be more expensive for them.
$1000.00 for four tires seems very cheap to me. Glad you're safer now.
You may have to buy 4 tires close to the size of the original ones.
That's what we did!
The cynic in me thinks they only TOLD you they didn’t have your tire so you’d HAVE to buy a complete set. You know, taking advantage of the language barrier and all. I hope that’s not true, but that’s how my brain works. But I’m invested in your journey and happy to see you are safe!
It is very likely that it has not had, the idiots that govern Argentina have restricted imports, not only of tires but also of raw materials, which is why the tire factories in Argentina had to stop production for several days.
Glad you found some compadres!
Meeting fellowship nomadrs is, I assume, a great thing to talk to another human being. I know you have Curt and he seems like an excellent road tripping guy. He also is looking after you. Snow, I hope you are regaining your heart health. You appear to be doing well.
I love how your Kitty Cats are leashed so they can go for a walk to. I am training our kitty's to be leash trained as well.
We are planning out Mexican adventure in the next couple of months. I am soooo exc8trd.
We have learned so much from Curt and you and I hope to see you in the road. Great contact. Snow, do take care and don't overdo it. Rest when your body says reset. You are the strongest, most patient I know having gone through every scenario
Sooo far. Hope it's going to be absolutely.
Until tomorrow. Love you guys and you're in my prayers. Safe traveling to you both. PST the kitty's for me and give Curt a good squeeze from my husband and I and that goes double for you!
See you tomorrow,!
They got you gringos good! Jeeze,I hope you keep 1 for spare.
In Paraguay tires would have been a Lot cheaper. 😬
We had to put new tires on both our vehicles to the tune of $800 and $1000 here in the US.
Over too soon! I think you just need to live-stream…. 😂😂. Watching with great interest from Tacoma, Washington. ❤
That doesn't make sense, they make tires down in South America, why are they so expensive there??? At lest you got them replaced before a serious incident on the road though.
But with new tires you safe and that make me happy 😊
After all your travel in the dualie, I'd consider you guys pretty much subject matter experts. IF you had to do it again, would you go with 6 tires over 4 again? A pros and cons on dualies be a good video idea
We love the stability of the dually with some of the roads we travel. The tolls are more money. But, to us it's worth it.
The cost of diesel here in Victoria Australia is $2.07 Australian per litre, This works out at around $7.90 AUD per gallon. I think that would be close to $5.50 USD.
I love you guys so much, its fun taking adventures with you, however, can you make your video between 30-45 minutes because I like to watch while on the treadmill lol anyway just a wish.. can't wait till the next video!
allo guys thank you so mutsh for the oportunety too see all ove thats emazing love seu
as someone from europe it's weird to see how hard it is for you do get parts for your car. mercedes-sprinter are such a comon van over here, i think nearly every contractor has one
Good morning all. 7:06 here
Morning 🌞
I noticed you have a Vitrifrigo fridge. Are you happy with it? Thinking about using it in our van build. Hoping for a freezer that can keep ice cream hard.
Thank you! We are happy to have you along for the ride 🚐
Around here deisel is around $5.00 a gallon or more and regular gas is $3.77 a gallon
The young couple L.E.A.W. (leave everything and wonder) the very 1st of the young couples to make it to Ushusia and they ended up getting put in a camp there for their own Safety in 2020 because they couldn't get back to Italy they're vehicle a truck camper is still stranded there because they had a baby and Luca Recently had a series of strokes at the age of 30 something and They have not been able and probably won't be for some time to get back and get their vehicle it is stored on some land! As Fan of other how nice would be being that yall are there maybe you could check on it for them when you head back 🥰
Look for their LEAW sticker on the board when you finally make it to Ushuaia
I think it would be very wonderful if you could all talk to them 😊
Oh no... We didn't know that their truck was still here 😔😔 and... Our vids are a couple weeks behind (to give us edit time)... So, we just left ushuaia. We would have for sure reached out to them and checked on their rig.
Awwwwwwwwwwwww their doggie is so cute!!!
Yes!!! And so friendly
You have to figure in you got a Mercedes that has a lot of cost options added no matter what.. I have a four-wheel drive kind of like super mud vehicle and my tires were like $1,800 and of course I have a spare on the back and they have to match.. you need to order a spare tire..😮 how dare somebody steal your spare tire from underneath your van that's ridiculous but it happens everywhere
It is always 4:20! As long as you don't use the front drive your good, but you want them to match before you use the front. I believe if you refer to the manuel it will state this. Sucks I know.
Happy birthday fellow traveler
😊😊😊😊😊😊 thank you!
BTW. You did the right thing with the tires. That’s nothing to fool around with. I paid $1300 for new tires for my Jeep and that’s was buy 3 get one free. Now I traded ion a new Jeep. So I feel like I just tossed the money But really best thing you did was the new tires.
Incredible journey. Have you been lucky enough to replace your spare tire?
You’d probably pay $1000 in the US for 4 good tires. So not too out of line. I only buy really good tires myself. Glad you didn’t have a blowout on some desolate road!
